What is a good laptop under 1000$ for small gaming and office work? Posted: 29 Nov 2021 04:19 PM PST As in title. I have about 1000$ to spend on brand new laptop, but have no idea how do AMD or Intel integrated graphics work. I am honestly looking just to play some League of Legends from time to time and thats most likely it. I've been considering HP Envy x360 with Ryzen 7, new VivoBook with Oled screen and some others (HP yoga??). Is any of those decent enough to play League on at least a 100fps and also without being 100kg brick like those gaming laptops? Or maybe you could recommend me something better than those aforementioned ones? Thanks for any advices :) [link] [comments]

Would a hard shell cover for the acer swift 3 fit an acer swift x? Posted: 29 Nov 2021 05:42 PM PST Just bought the acer swift x 14 inch and wanted to buy a hard cover for it. However, can only find them for the acer swift 3. Will it fit? Or will I have to settle for a laptop sleeve? [link] [comments]
Posted: 29 Nov 2021 05:21 PM PST Hey everyone So I managed to get myself the above Asus laptop yesterday and after some discount codes and cash back etc managed to pay around £1,700. I have had a look at the reviews and most state it is a great device for both work and play. Whilst researching laptops I saw a lot of concerns over the different types of 3080 and the potential power supply issues causing a bottleneck albeit no necessarily in relation to this device. Does anybody have any practical views on things? Is all as good as it seems? Even better has anybody got this model and can they vouch for it? I tend to travel a lot for work so my useage is likely to be 6-8 hours of work which is general light usage and 4 hours or so a few nights a week gaming. Title wise it varies and I would like to have a significant amount of longevity for the price. Finally, I have read about the upgrade ability of this as being low due to the fixed RAM; however I have also seen there are 2 M2 slots, would adding another M2 cause a problem? For the avoidance of doubt, this is the model: https://ao.com/product/ga503qshn103t-asus-laptop-grey-89120-251.aspx [link] [comments]
Help, fps drops after 3-4 minutes of playing Posted: 29 Nov 2021 01:17 PM PST Hello, I have a laptop with rtx 2070 super max q intel i7-10750H 16 GB DDR4-2933 SDRAM 144hz windows 10 I have had the laptop for almost 2 years and untill now i have been playing on constant 144fps at medium-high settings without a problem. However about a week ago i have started having this problem where after i start any game after 3-4 minutes of constant 144 fps (goes upto 200-220 if i don't cap it) it drops to 45-70fps and never goes above about 70 again. If i restart the game sometimes it fixes and sometimes it doesnt. i have to restart my laptop to fix it but it drops back again after 3-4 minutes. I tried reinstalling the game and even hard reset my laptop. I thought it was my drivers at first because when i looked at task manager i saw that the hdd disk was working and the ssd was at 0%. however i dont think that is the problem anymore because it doesnt go above 10%. Please if anyone knows how to fix this tell me [link] [comments]
14" Gaming laptop with bulletproof reliability Posted: 29 Nov 2021 01:04 PM PST So I'm looking for a gaming laptop in the 14" form factor. I'm a pretty avid gamer (particularly fond of the just cause series and some vr titles like half life alyx)I'm also a computer science major and I like to play around with computer vision a lot and I do gamedev sometimes too so a solid GPU and cpu are a must. I have no inclination to go above 1080p unless I have to. However my biggest requirement is that it must be RELIABLE AF. My current laptop is a Dell G3 gaming from 2018 and the cheap plastic chassis has warped from extended use and is basically falling apart. So a full metal chassis, reliability, and decent thermals are priorities I need this thing to last at least 4 years. Battery life is definitely a nice to have and I would prefer at least 6 hrs of battery life under light load ex. VS code, MS word, chrome, etc. To summarize my priorities: 1 reliability and durability2 14"3 Preferably vr ready with at least an rtx3060 or better4 decent batt lifeBudget: ~$2000 [link] [comments]
Posted: 29 Nov 2021 04:42 PM PST I own a metabox laptop that I bought secobd hand and it came with a program installed that allowed you to change the speed of the fans and change the colour of the connected keyboard (there was several other features but these were the most notable) but my hardrive corrupted and I lost the program. Any information leading to the reinstallation of this program or something similar would be greatly appreciated. [link] [comments]
Computer for streaming and work Posted: 29 Nov 2021 03:42 PM PST Which one would be better for webcam, streaming, and work. I like the touchscreen but the better quality computer matters more. The think pad is on sale for $1,000 from $2,500 and the yoga is $1,200 but only from $1,400 [link] [comments]
Help…Noob Dad needs reassurance! Posted: 29 Nov 2021 03:29 PM PST So I did some research (clearly realising now not enough) on here and Internet and got the Legion 7i for my kid for x-mas. He's a sweet kid, never asks for much (unlike his sister) and I wanted to get him something he would appreciate, he is a real gamer. Take a look at the specs below… worried now, do I need more ram is 16gb ok for this or have I fucked up. Also reading some comments, Lenovo supposed to ship it in 2-3 weeks… is that horseshit?! Legion 7i 16 Processor - 11th Generation Intel® Core™ i9-11980HK Processor (8 Cores / 16 Threads, 2.60 GHz, up to 5.00 GHz with Turbo Boost, 24 MB Cache) Operating System - Windows 11 Home 64 Operating System Language - Windows 11 Home 64 English Microsoft Productivity Software - Microsoft Office Trial Memory - 16 GB (2 x 8 GB) SO-DIMM DDR4 3200MHz First Solid State Drive - 1 TB M.2 2280 SSD Display - 16.0" WQXGA (2560x1600) IPS Anti-Glare 500nits Non-Touch 165Hz Narrow Bezel 100% sRGB HDR400 Graphic Card - NVIDIA® GeForce RTX™ 3080 16GB GDDR6 [link] [comments]

Should I be weary of the customized HP laptops? The HP15T-Dy200 for example? Posted: 29 Nov 2021 02:38 PM PST My mom has been looking for a laptop. She stumbled upon the customize laptop section of HP. She found one with great specs but it isn't one of their series brand laptops the pavilion or such. It is the HP-15T-DY200. It has 16 GB ram, 11th gen i7, 256 GBSS, and touch screen for $550. It is usually 799.99. She might be able to get another 30 off via employee discount. She doesn't necessarily need the specs but if she can get that at the same price of a similar computer with less specs she should. However I am concerned there is something up or the customs might not be great. Not many reviews and just the process makes me uneasy. Anyone have any advice? Thanks for the help. Worth upgrading?(Extra SSD&RAM) Posted: 29 Nov 2021 01:25 PM PST Hello all! I come here for some advice. I have 4 year old laptop, HP 15, core i3-6006u (late 2016), with 8GB RAM 2133MHz and a HDD. Id like to ask for opinions if it's worth upgrading?? I have mixed feelings as I think I can give it some extra lifetime, considering how expensive is the laptop market right now (I'd love a Ryzen 5-5500u, with at least 16GB RAM and SSD). I don't want to settle with a 4500U, because I don't wanna make the same "mistake" I made when I bought my HP, being cheap I kind of ignored it was 1 year old processor and I feel it's one year that I lost, aside of the fact I didn't know much about computers as now 😅 The other thing I was considering is a mini pc+upgrading the laptop, but that's another story haha. I thank you for your ideas! [link] [comments]
