Grab says my phone is rooted, but it's fresh out of the factory Posted: 12 Nov 2021 01:31 PM PST This was posted here before, but for some reason, reddit (or a mod) removed it as spam. Why is this a spam? Grab is the app for ride calling and food deliveries. I bought a new phone, an Oppo F5 since one of Grab's updates made my old phone unable to access it. And I need Grab for the times when I need to call in a ride. The problem is, Grab says my phone is rooted and I need to fix it before I can access their app. I have only turned on this phone on Monday and the only apps I've installed are MySejahtera (a Malaysian-government endorsed covid management app), Instagram and Whatsapp. All of them works fine, except for Grab. I looked on Grab's own FAQ and it said I need to install and run Root Checker app, which I did. It says "Sorry! Root access is not properly installed on this device." I looked further down that I also need SuperSU. So I downloaded it too and when I use it, it says "Not Rooted!" I looked on the net and a quora reply mentioned enabling developer option. So I did, but the option for root is not in the developer options. I also tapped both Root Checker and SuperSU after this and they still say the same thing. So what is it that I should do now? Thank you in advance. [link] [comments] |
Best Third party launcher recommendation. Posted: 12 Nov 2021 05:27 AM PST Hi, I'm using MIUI on my Redmi and I'm totally fed up with it. The whole phone lags when theres just two apps running in the background and the whole ui feels buggy and unresponsive. Can anybody recommend me good Third party launcher? I'm not interested in roms and stuff but I just need a simple and smooth launcher. Any Launcher is good but it need to look latest and I've seen Nova launcher but it looks like it came from Android 7. Thanks in advance. [link] [comments] |
Best note-taking apps for android tabs Posted: 12 Nov 2021 10:22 AM PST Hi. I have been using one note for some time in my Windows. I love the app, however, now I want to switch to my android tab, is there any note-taking app that has the feature of adding space? One Note (for android tab) and Samsung note don't have that feature. [link] [comments] |
Looking for privacy app that provides a guest mode/second profile upon unlocking Posted: 12 Nov 2021 01:36 PM PST Hi, I'm looking for an app that works like a normal lock screen but depending on what pattern or pin is used to unlock the phone, it opens either your normal profile or a guest profile where certain apps are disabled. News is going around where i am that cops are asking for your phone to be unlocked and handed over to check the gallery and messages. So i want an app that unlocks the phone seemingly normally but with (for example) the gallery not showing up or disabled. [link] [comments] |
Business Calendar 2 locations? Posted: 12 Nov 2021 10:40 AM PST So I started using Business Calendar 2 about a month ago and I love it, except for one little thing and that's the locations function. I can type in a business name into Google Calendar and it'll pull up the nearby businesses that match that name and 9 times out of 10 the one I'm looking for will be there. Business Calendar on the other hand will pull up a list of businesses but it won't find the exact one I'm looking for and may be showing matches for businesses that are a province over and not in my nearby city. My workaround so far has been to create the event in Google Calendar and select the location there but I'd prefer not to have to do that any longer. Anyone have any tips or tricks for getting this worked out? [link] [comments] |
Looking for an alarm/reminder app Posted: 12 Nov 2021 10:30 AM PST Apart from the expected features (recurring alarms/reminders, selectable alert sound, etc.) the only unusual feature I want is a notification panel showing how much time is left until the next few upcoming alarms/reminders. Thanks. [link] [comments] |

Dr Weather: App I developed in Flutter. Posted: 11 Nov 2021 09:48 PM PST This is a simple Android app I developed for Weather forecasting. It shows current weather, along with a short weather description, Max and min temperature, along with pressure. I have incorporated dynamic images wherein the images are in correspondence with the weather. For example: If the weather is rainy, it'll display a rainy image, etc. It also has the option to search for a city of your own choice. You can also view the ads by clicking on the globe icon in the middle at the top(I didn't want the ruin the experience with pop up video ads so the option). Can I get honest feedback? Music player with defined "paired songs" for shuffle? Posted: 12 Nov 2021 07:19 AM PST I don't know if this is something that exists, but I figured this community might be my best bet to find it. I'm trying to shift away from YouTube Music because it just feels lackluster after being forced to drop Google Play Music, and I'm looking for a music player that has a very niche feature I've always thought about, but never found. I have a number of albums that have pairs of songs that flow really well together - the end of one song becomes the beginning of the next pretty seamlessly, you would have a hard time finding the split between them. When I shuffle, I would love to be able to mark those two songs as a single unit that don't get broken apart, even when everything else is shuffled. So if Track A comes up on the shuffle list, Track B will be guaranteed to play after every time, or if Track B is coming up on the list it places Track A just before it. I wouldn't be surprised if this doesn't exist, since it's such a niche feature that wouldn't have a lot of use cases. But if it IS out there, I would love to hear about it. Thanks! Music Player App for Android - recommendations? Posted: 12 Nov 2021 10:56 AM PST Hi all, I'm looking for a music player app (not streaming) for Android to play music files directly from my phone, so was wondering which one is best out there? I found some posts from a year or two ago recommending Poweramp - is this still the consensus? Also, I don't mind shelling out a couple of bucks for the premium/upgraded version of the app if it's a one-time-payment, so something to take into consideration as well. Thanks in advance! Posted: 12 Nov 2021 09:55 AM PST I have an app idea that requires the ability to play audio over a device's loud speaker even when the device is muted/silenced. Is there a special permission that can be requested by and granted to an app to allow this exception? Or if a device is muted, nothing can be played out loud? (Of course the user would know about the app's intention to do this. The reason for doing so is precisely why the user would have installed this app in the first place.) Edit: I looked at this page https://developer.android.com/guide/topics/permissions/overview and this page https://developer.android.com/reference/android/Manifest.permission but not being a developer, I'm still unsure. Question: How to make Google Reminders more noticable? Posted: 12 Nov 2021 08:52 AM PST Hi! I use to create reminders on the google calendar at my PC, so that my phone will alert me at a certain date+time. That works fine, but sometimes I don't hear the notification because I'm in a different room as my phone or the environment is too loud. So I will only notice it when I wake up the phone, which might be too late. I tried selecting a longer and louder notification tone from the Calendar App. But it seems all the available sounds are very short (~2s). Something like in the timer app would be great. Those sounds are played in a loop until I turn them off. Is it possible to either:
Thanks for any help. [link] [comments] |
Looking for a Free Photo Editing App which allows me to adjust the lips of a smile Posted: 12 Nov 2021 08:38 AM PST I have installed and uninstalled many apps so far. There were a couple that allowed this, but were not free. I just need a photo editing app that will allow me to adjust the upper and lower lips of a persons face to help create a smile or a better smile. [link] [comments] |
Journaling App (Android, Windows) Posted: 12 Nov 2021 07:36 AM PST Hello there, as I am just starting out on trying to keep a written journal, I am searching for an app to do so digitally. I'm searching for something that works across both Android and Windows. A good search functionality would be great (tags for the entries are a given, I'd love to be able to @ tag people and places in the entries themselves) and obviously the data security should be accounted for. As a bonus, tracking sleep, sport and eating times in the same app would be great, too (I would appreciate different app suggestions for this, too, though). I don't mind a paid version, it's just that I am overwhelmed by the choices available so I hope this is the right place to ask for this. Thanks in advance [link] [comments] |
Is there an app where I can upload music from my pc that will sync wirelessly with my android phone? Posted: 11 Nov 2021 11:09 PM PST Okay, I know what you're all thinking — can't you just use YouTube? Well, I'd absolutely love to, but sadly YouTube isn't the best for listening to music. For example, on mobile, the shuffle feature is so underwhelming; it doesn't even shuffle all songs in a playlist. However, YouTube Music actually seems to have a functioning shuffle, but there's one problem with YouTube Music — most of the songs on YouTube are unavailable on YouTube Music, most likely due to copyright reasons. Due to all of this, I'd like to know if there's an application where I can listen to playlists that will sync between both my computer and my phone. Music of which I can upload. This way, I won't have to worry about the platform not having music I'd like to listen to. Also, it'd be an absolute plus if I can listen to the music I uploaded from my computer without any connection, such as wifi and data. [link] [comments] |
