    Background and alpha transparency

    Posted: 04 Nov 2021 02:44 PM PDT

    Is there any way to support alpha transparency of a PNG file used as background ? I have a character that have a glowing aura around it with a high transparency. When I set the background with this image the aura appears as completely opaque. Is there any way to support this without adding it a background to the original image manually ? Thank you

    Convenient management of multiple monitors for communicators

    Posted: 04 Nov 2021 05:41 AM PDT

    Hey, is it possible to do with built-in options (or external tools) something like this:

    * there are multiple physical monitors

    * there are multiple workspaces

    * the main monitor is the only one switching between workspaces

    * the secondary monitor does not change workspaces

    My point is that I need to stay in touch with the team. On the second monitor I have Slack, thunderbird and some other tools. On the main monitor I have my applications that I work on. When switching between them, I would like to leave the second screen unchanged.

    In Gnome on Linux this worked without a problem, and on macOS as well. This time I need Windows, and other than throwing it on the VM to occupy one screen, I'm out of ideas.

    I've searched Reddit, Google, Stackoverflow, and many other sites, but I haven't been able to get this exact behavior.

    Extracting dynamic .heic files

    Posted: 04 Nov 2021 07:20 AM PDT

    So with Windows 11's slideshow feature it would be cool to use dynamic wallpapers that are available for MacOS.

    I downloaded a dynamic wallpaper that was delivered in a .heic file but it's only showing me one photo while there should be around 4 or 5 images here. Is there any way to extract the individual images so I can use them on Windows?

    Best way to save/restore sets of opened apps/files?

    Posted: 04 Nov 2021 05:56 AM PDT

    Note I don't want this to happen automatically after every Restart.
    I want to be able to Save a state, and then Restore it whenever I want.
    (No need for full state of Windows, like in Hibernate. Just which apps/files are open)

    Nice-to-haves:
    - Also save position/configuration of app windows (including across multiple desktops);
    - Be able to Save multiple sets of opened apps/files

    Can this be done natively in Windows? If not, any app that can do it?

    ---

    Full explanation:

    Most of the time I have a dozen apps open, which works fine. But sometimes I need to work on a particularly processor-heavy app, which requires me to close all other apps, and then reopen/reposition them all once I'm done...

    Would be great to be able to just pick among a series of "workspaces", each consisting of a certain set of windows/files. Of course I'd need to be warned if I have any unsaved work in the current "workspace" before closing it and opening the next one.

    Title. Is it possible to make it so that any exe that isn't signed can't be run? Windows S/SE is not an option. I need this on Home and Pro.

    How to do a fresh install of Windows 11 on any PC by bypassing CPU + Legacy BIOS + RAM + Secure Boot + TPM checks!

    Posted: 04 Nov 2021 08:25 AM PDT

    I installed Win11 on an unsupported system and received secuirty updates. So it's not true, that unsupported systems won't get critical updates?

    Posted: 04 Nov 2021 06:29 AM PDT

    So as everyone knows, Microsoft announced not to release security updates for Win11 installations on unsupported systems.

    Has this already proven to be wrong? I received updates right after installation and wondered if Microsoft simply in that case.

    Does anyone know more about that?
