16gb or 32gb: how much RAM do you need to play well in 2021? Posted: 02 Oct 2021 02:56 AM PDT |
Posted: 02 Oct 2021 07:41 AM PDT Yesterday I got an evga rtx 3060 ti ftw from step up. My frame rates have been terrible getting only around 10 fps in the csgo main menu. I can't even launch rainbow six siege. Its says my gpu usage is at 100 percent but only using 1/8 video memory. My specs are ryzen 5 3600, 16 gb drr4 ram 3600 speed, 1 tb ssd, and b550 tomahawk. if anyone has any idea what the issue could be please let me know. Thanks [link] [comments] |
Posted: 02 Oct 2021 12:53 AM PDT If I'm looking to make a huge difference in terms of image quality and I'm on a budget, which one should I upgrade to from my current 1080p 60Hz monitor? Edit: 1440p 60Hz in the title [link] [comments] |
Do *ANY* ergo mice exist that have a fast sensor? Posted: 02 Oct 2021 09:08 AM PDT I am in love with logitechs hero/lightspeed sensor, driving the G903 for years but I have huge, lanky hands and am really looking for more of an mx master type of chassis(that mouse is damn-near perfectly shaped, imo) Just way more comfortable. TLDR: do any GOOD ergo mice exist with a sensor exceeding 10K+ DPI? [link] [comments] |

My Grandma wants me to build her a computer so she can open up word files in under 5 minutes Posted: 02 Oct 2021 02:44 PM PDT Her computer was running on whatever came before windows 7, and it's choking on windows 10 right now. She does not play games or anything so I'm thinking this build shouldn't be too expensive. I want her to get a solid state drive so things load quickly for her. Ideally this build should be less than 600 dollars, if it can handle basic web browsing and solitaire I think she's gonna be happy! [link] [comments] |
Posted: 02 Oct 2021 12:56 AM PDT I am considering between HyperX cloud flight or steel series arctis 7. I wear spectacles and headset has always cause my head to hurt as it presses down on to my spectacles at the ear area so I have been using earbuds to play games/watch shows. My friends have been recommending me to get headsets for better experience and from my research initially, HyperX cloud flight and steel series arctis 7 felt like it is worth getting. However, after researching further, I found that some people say that audiophile headphones are more worth getting. So I am a little confused. My budget range is about 180usd, and I would like to get some of your opinions on this. Thank you in advance :)) [link] [comments] |
Melted power cable at the connector Posted: 02 Oct 2021 01:45 PM PDT Hi, I just built a PC recently but I saw that my power cable has melted at the connector. My major specs: Gigabyte B550i 5950X Corsair SF750 EVGA RTX 3080Ti Arctic Liquid Freezer ii 280 The power cable was a little bent and stretched, so that might contribute to it? Does anyone have any recommendations for how to diagnose this? [link] [comments] |

Need to know if gpu is compatible Posted: 02 Oct 2021 01:07 PM PDT Can you put a gt 1030 in a dell optiplex 5050 or 7040 [link] [comments] |
Posted: 02 Oct 2021 12:44 PM PDT Hello guys. I've been searching for some tips on buying a gpu on release day, but the only posts i saw were like "how small is the chance for that to happen?". I wanted to ask you for any tips. Since i've never seen any option to "preorder" it from nvidia's website, is there any chance to preorder it from somewhere else than a retail shop (any manufacturer's site is what i mean)? If you have any other tips, I'll appreciate 'em. [link] [comments] |
EVGA PSUs, from G3 to G6, full-modular cables compatible? Posted: 02 Oct 2021 02:51 PM PDT I'm upgrading my PSU from EVGA Supernova G3 550w to a Supernova G6 850w. Just looking for confirmation that the modular cables are compatible. (And save myself having to rewire my PC.) EVGA's site looks to say yes, they use compatible pinouts between these PSUs: https://www.evga.com/support/faq/FAQdetails.aspx?faqid=59698 Anyone have any experience or can confirm I can use the G3 cables that are already installed? Is there a known EVGA rep on Reddit? [link] [comments] |
Games stuttering out of nowhere Posted: 02 Oct 2021 02:46 PM PDT Specs: R5 5600x, MSI Mag B550 Tomahawk, 16gb 2x8 3600 ram, and gtx 1050ti (I plan on upgrading when the market prices go down). I just built this pc four months ago for light gaming until i can get a new gpu. Everything was fine until this morning i got on 2k22 and my fps would drop from 144 to like 35 or 45 and go back and from 60 to 15 when in an online game. The game has been running smoothly up until this point. Gta and Splitgate have the same issue. They all ran good until today and idk why. My cpu tempts in game rarely go over 65 and my gpu rarely goes over 55 so i know its not overheating. I also tried dropping the graphics on all 3 games to lowest and it does the same thing. All games are on a Samsung 970 evo m.2. Can anyone help fix this? [link] [comments] |
Hot-Swapping HDDs? do I need special hardware for it? Posted: 02 Oct 2021 02:31 PM PDT I'm building a PC with a bunch of 2013-haswell parts, to be my all-purpose/plex server. What I am unclear about, is if I need some kind of special hardware/connection to do this? or can I just plug/unplug into sata/sata-power connectors? if the later, I would simply opt to 3D-print some docks of my own design. Let me know what is important about setting up the PC to do this please! Thanks! [link] [comments] |
Posted: 02 Oct 2021 02:04 PM PDT This is my first time building a pc from scratch. All the parts are at home except the mobo and the SSD. The mobo will be shipped on Monday. I selected the RAM and M.2 SSD from the mobo's QVL list. I would like to hear any comments, thoughts about this build. Hopefully, there's no any compatibility issue.
Also, I have a question: In the QVL list, this model of ram seems to be approved for only 1 and 2 memory socket support, not 4. What happens if get the same pair of ram and install it when I want to upgrade the total amount of memory to 128 GB? Do I have to find a 4x32 set from the QVL list, and get rid of my current RAM stick? [link] [comments] |
buying a monitor with 1 dead pixel, opinions, please Posted: 02 Oct 2021 10:04 AM PDT What do you think about buying a monitor with 1 dead pixel? I can buy a BenQ EX2780Q which is 27 inch, 1440p, and 144hz but there's 1 broken pixel for 165 euro instead of 270 euro. Would it be worth it do you think? thanks [link] [comments] |
All of the games i play stutters.. Posted: 02 Oct 2021 03:27 AM PDT So all of them stutters even after meeting well above the requirements. They run at 30+ fps but it stutters a lot.The frame times are all over the place.I think this is what causing the issue..I should mention that all of my drivers are up to date.I monitored the temperature while gaming. The cpu reaches around 75-80 degree celcious and the Gpu 70-74.I even monitored cpu gpu bottleneck but the utilization of both is fine.I even tried installing rivatuner to cap my fps but still no result.I am completely empty guys.Anyone wish to help will be hearty appreciated.. pc config intel core i5 7200U 8Gb ddr4 2133 mhz ram 256gb samsung nvme SSD nvidia mx 150 GPU [link] [comments] |

I bought a Gigabyte B460 DS3H V2 Mobo, what to I need to get for wifi connection? Posted: 02 Oct 2021 01:07 PM PDT So, I bought this mobo. Me not realizing it did have built in wifi to my knowledge, I can't get an Ethernet cable to the PC, since my router is in an entirely different room on the other side of the house. Do I need to get a wifi card? If so which one? Or does the mobo have built in wifi and I'm just being stupid. [link] [comments] |
Posted: 02 Oct 2021 12:48 PM PDT So if i am building Minecraft server (or any game server) what should I prioritize? Do i need as much cpu power, as much ram, fast storage, GPU power or what is most important? Also is it better to build a PC or a pi cluster? Pi cluster seems really cool, especially how i can upscale it like if more friends want to join in i just add few raspberries and it's done. But i will have to look into it bit more. Any info that would at least point me into right direction will be appreciated Btw it would start with just 2-5 players and i might upgrade later if that helps a bit with suggests Also can use clusters like have 10 raspberries, 3 for website and 7 for server or something like this that they would be devided like this? Thx [link] [comments] |
Is there anyway to default an apps window? Posted: 02 Oct 2021 12:30 PM PDT I don't really know how to describe this issue but for example for some reason my blizzard entertainment app will launch in the top left corner of my screen at a smaller window size instead of the middle of my screen, is there anyway to default this? 1660, 1660 ti, 2060.. all have the same plastic (not metal) backplate? Posted: 02 Oct 2021 12:30 PM PDT Hello here. Do all versions of 1660, 1660 s, 1660 ti, 2060 have the same plastic (not metal) backplate? Thanks! [link] [comments] |
Advice needed for CPU Heatsink Posted: 02 Oct 2021 12:28 PM PDT Hello, I recently upgraded the CPU in my PC a couple of months ago. I am running an AMD Ryzen 9 3900x with the stock heatsink. I have noticed that quite often while a game is running and I have Chrome open, usually with a twitch stream on my second monitor, the temperature is usually around 80-85oC. Though sometimes, seemingly for no apparent reason, the temperature will rise to 90oC and cause Chrome to freeze up. A bit more recently I also upgraded the RAM on my PC and it did not appear to be very dusty, but I still cleaned it out a bit with a can of compressed air. My thought is that the stock CPU heatsink that came with the Ryzen 9 3900x is mostly to blame. If anyone has a similar experience with this CPU and heatsink please let me know. So my question here is, what is the recommended heatsink to use with my CPU? In addition, what would be the best of the best CPU cooler that I could use? Depending on the cost difference I would not be opposed to just getting the absolute best option. From doing a little bit of digging the best options I could find myself are the Cooler Master MasterAir MA620M and the Noctua NH-D15 coolers. Are these considered overkill, or is this just what I would need? Is there any downside to going a bit overkill? I really appreciate any advice anyone can provide. [link] [comments] |
