Xiaomi Xiaomi Camera censoring German postal voting documents

Xiaomi Camera censoring German postal voting documents

I am using a Mi 9T Pro with MIUI Global 12.5.2, trying to take a picture of a (closed) letter containing my ballot for the forthcoming German general election. However, soon after picture is taken, it is automatically replaced by a completely green picture. The miniature preview picture is visible until you try to open it in the gallery.

I repeated the picture taking process a dozen times, first taking a picture of the letter laying on top of the guidance notes on a table. Then pointing the phone slightly to the right, taking a picture just of the table with just a bit of the letter in view.

All pictures of the desk are fine, all pictures of the letter + guidance notes get replaced by green placeholders. The preview pictures always look perfectly fine until you click on them and only see a green 'censored' version. Taking the exact same picture with the third party camera 'ProShot' worked as expected.

Does anyone know what is going on? There are no error messages or warnings not to take pictures of 'illegal' documents. Under German law taking pictures of the actual ballot would indeed be illegal but a closed letter and guidance notes sure don't qualify... and anyways, why would a Xiaomi camera software go about and censor any non-Chinese documents?

    Disappointed with xiaomi.eu

    Posted: 02 Sep 2021 05:52 PM PDT

Its my first time to flash and use xiaomi.eu (Stable) on my Mi 9T Pro and all I can say is I'm dissapointed. UI is laggy and stutters. Specially in playing a video, the bubbles UI become very laggy and slow. YouTube Vanced UI also starts to lag when playing a video. Everything starts to lag. This isn't the case for other custom ROMs I've used before. The only reason I'm still using it now is because I have 50GB of personal files and re-transferring them again takes too long and the current PE Plus build is bug ridden. So, yes xiaomi.eu for me is "No ads, laggy UI".

People who bought Poco X3 Pro do you have any regrets or complains?

    Posted: 02 Sep 2021 03:25 PM PDT

Im worried about software issues, and most of all blurry shaken pictures with those washed white images.

Also, does Xiaomi has some app to scan documents? (not QR stuff, paper documents)

Im only looking for IPS LCD models due to eye strain, and Poco X3 Pro seems to be the best one

    Thanks in advance!

What DAC does the Redmi Note 10 Pro (Max) have?

    Posted: 02 Sep 2021 08:04 PM PDT

As per the title. Couldn't find any information online. Perhaps someone knows.

Or if anyone knows if the headphone output is good, or if it's better to use a Xiaomi USB-C to 3.5 adaptor which I hear has a decent DAC.

    Thanks.

Is flashing a custom ROM worth anymore?

    Posted: 02 Sep 2021 05:57 AM PDT

I would really like to try xiaomi.eu on mi 10T, but it needs open boot loader, which can be detected, and then all app's don't work.

Yes I know you can use magisk and have an eternal battle with safety net while some apps still refuse to work (Mcdonalds is a good example).

I just got my phone a few days ago, so sorry if this is a stupid question. So I have the panels app downloaded and when I clear my apps, the panels disappears as well. I need to reopen the app to enable the panel. Is there anyway that I can have the panel there even when I clear my apps?

Xiaomi Redmi Note9 Pro's camera glass broken

    Posted: 02 Sep 2021 01:25 PM PDT

Hi there. Just looking for some suggestions.
First thing, I'm in Italy, so maybe some things may change from region to region.
So, basically today my day was ruined when I saw that the glass on my xiaomi's camera had a crack and little pieces of glasses were already falling out. In a few minutes it became a little hole. I have owned this phone since last november, so it's still covered by warranty. Did this happen to other people too?
I was thinking about going to a local store where they offer many possibilities to change pieces, to save some money and some time (I have a job so I really need my phone).
So the first question is: how much time does repairing the glass takes, if I went with warranty? When would the glass will be repaired, are there any good phone cases that protect the camera too? (I was thinking about buying a Spigen case)
The camera itself doesn't seem broken, it still takes pictures, but I noticed that the focus has some problems...I really hope it didn't completely broken.
I find it strange mainly because it didn't fall on a hard floor (like rocks or anything), neither I did smashed it onto a table or something like that. But I read pretty much everywhere that these kind of glasses are fragile and break easily.
Also, I fear that glasses may ruin the whole phone. That's why I'd like to change that ASAP.
Thanks to anyone that will reply and thank you for your time.
    Photo of the crack.

    Poco F3 or X3 Pro?

    Posted: 02 Sep 2021 07:13 PM PDT

I know the F3 is a no brainer because of processor and screen, however I'm conflicted on the battery life. I dont plan on using custom roms, and I see a lot of people complaining about how they only get 3-4 hours of SOT on their poco f3 and other heat problems, is this true? Does it only last 3-4 hours with light gaming and casual usage? Or does it actually last longer? . If this is true, I'd rather get the x3 pro if it is more stable in battery life. Any advice?

    Airdots 3 failing

    Posted: 02 Sep 2021 06:31 PM PDT

Just got the new xiaomi airdots 3 and when i connect to my notebook, the sound is fine but when i connect to my redmi note 10, the sound keeps cutting constantly. Do anyone had the same problem?

Just found out that when i disable the wi-fi connection it stops, when i turn on again it cuts. Normally the bluetooth would interfere with the wi-fi , not the opposite. Suggestions?

No sound from Redmi Airdots S on PC

    Posted: 02 Sep 2021 12:14 PM PDT

Just bought these earbuds and they work with my Android, but when I connect with my Windows 10 PC, there's no sound. In the bluetooth settings, PC says "Redmi Airdots S, Connected voice, music" but I hear no sound. I tried updating the drivers for all bluetooth items under "Bluetooth" in Device Manager as well as tried to update sound drivers. All of them were already using the latest drivers.

Found a way to fix dark-mode problems!!! (Without ROOT)

    Posted: 02 Sep 2021 11:10 AM PDT

hey guys, i just bought a poco x3 pro 5 days ago and this is my first xiaomi phone.

i had this annoying problem in my favorite game: https://www.reddit.com/r/DBZDokkanBattle/comments/pe4q54/any_miui_users_here_i_have_an_annoying_problem_in/

forced dark mode was making my in game text invisible and the game was not listed under "individual apps" section... i was using my phone in light mode for the last 2 days and hated every moment of it.

i searched a lot and couldn't find an easy fix without root. there was an app called darq and supposedly it works with shizuku but i couldn't make it work either. all i found was other peoples' complaints from months ago without any fixes. so, xiaomi just doesn't care i guess?

here's the fix, just enable usb debugging and type this command:

    "adb shell setprop debug.hwui.force_dark false"

    that's all...

if you switch between light and dark mode or reboot your device you have to repeat this.

this will disable forcing dark mode on all the apps.

i really hate that this is possible but xiaomi just doesn't let us choose this option via user interface...

Poco X3: function that stabilizes screen?

    Posted: 02 Sep 2021 10:31 AM PDT

    Hey everyone

My Poco X3 used to have a option on my quick settings menu that would stabilize my screen, but it seems that it was removed in a past update.

When I mean stabilize the screen, I don't mean "while recording". What it did was stabilize the whole screen while using any app. It was very useful, for example, when taking the bus, as I could read stuff on my phone without feeling sick.

Does anyone know what this was called? Or how could I get it back? Thank you!

YouTube Premium Background Play not working.

    Posted: 02 Sep 2021 02:09 PM PDT

    Hello everyone!

I have a Xiaomi Redmi Note 10 pro with the latest version of MIUI and I am unable to use Youtube's background play function (Yes, I am a premium user)

I've tried several solutions, reinstalling the app, rebooting the phone multiple times and I ran out of ideas.

The background play function only works if my Google Keyboard app is open while typing (like now) but if I click away from the keyboard the video disappears but I can still hear the video sound.

    Please help! Thank you.

Redmi phones with Android 9 sending very low res images in a custom developed app

    Posted: 02 Sep 2021 01:27 AM PDT

Hello everyone, I had a custom app developed which sends data(Images and some metadata points) to a server. We tested it on every device we could get our hands on and are facing an issue specifically with mi phones(not pocophones) with android 9. While sending images, these phones are sending very low resolution images to the server with size ranging from 20KB to 60KB. While all the other phones are sending good quality images. It seems that somehow images are converted to 320x240 resolution before sending. Does anyone here know how to fix this or has faced similar problems? Any help would be highly appreciated.

    Thank you.

Could you downgrade MIUI 12 to MIUI 11 without data loss via ROM flash?

    Posted: 02 Sep 2021 11:27 AM PDT

MIUI 12 sadly brought a massive issue regarding WiFi connection for Mi9t pro 12.5.1 miui version. Issue described here: (https://www.reddit.com/r/Xiaomi/comments/onk3c9/mi_9t_pro_miui_1251_daily_wifi_issues_randomly)

It's not fixable and I want to know if anyone has done the downgrade to MIUI 11 and can you do it without data loss (dirty flash)

    I would love to know...
