    So I bought a $169 Moto G Play

    Posted: 19 Sep 2021 07:47 AM PDT

I needed a phone like ASAP while my device was stuck in FedEx Ida limbo, so I grabbed the cheapest thing Best Buy had.

It's...really not bad. It's slim and feels solid. It's easy to hold and has a solid protective shell so I don't feel the need to put it in a case. But more importantly it makes me realize what we've been missing with flagships for all this time.

It has a physical fingerprint reader, on the back, where your hand naturally rests. It's just right there, right where your finger is anyways. And it's lightning fast. It unlocks the phone immediately. Those in-screen ones always seem to take a few seconds, and they're awkward to use.

Micro SD card slot, so I just popped in my old card and instantly had all the same photos and music I had before. Headphone jack.

But the biggest thing...this battery lasts THREE DAYS, easily. I charged this thing Friday morning and on Sunday AM I'm still at 35%. There is just zero battery anxiety with this thing, and the lack of fast charging is completley not an issue. Why do we put up with phones we have to charge before dinner every night?

Don't get me wrong, the camera is bad in anything but bright light...but in bright light it's not awful. The screen has poor viewing angle so I have to pick it up to see it if it's on my desk. Snapdragon 4xx is slow opening apps.

None of this is enough to make me fault this little thing. At this price point, I'm amazed. If I had intended on keeping it longer I would have gotten the Power with it's Snap 630, which would have eliminated the annoying lag but still had the fingerprint reader and 3-day battery life.

[ Long Term Review] Realme Buds Q - A Trash Quality Earphone

    Posted: 19 Sep 2021 10:57 AM PDT

TL;DR: As title says, no more to add.

    Full Review:

I'm by no means an audiophile and to be honest, I ain't looking for some super duper high Quality Earphones at ₹1600 (~$20) too. What I was expecting from the overwhelming good reviews on many site that it will be good enough to last for 1 years at least.

I bought the earphone in January think same, but this was by far the worst purchase i made in my life. No review mentioned in the deep trouble this Earphones comes with.

Since the purchase made in Jan 2021, I have replaced the earphones 2 times already (For Free) by visiting a service center where I had to spend 1hr to reach.

For the first replacement (In Feb/March), So the slave earbud rebelled and got freedom against the master earbud. The reason for this was earphones were completely drained out of battery. After Charging them full, I tried and i found I was no longer was able to hear from 1 earphone entirely and spent 2+ days troubleshooting by trying various fixes posted online. Since no fixes worked, i had to replace them. During my visit, the service center was packed full, so I had to wait for 40mins for my turn after which they took it for their own testing and made me wait for ~20 mins. After that, they collected the box, cable & earphones and gave me an new sealed pack earphones. (BTW, there were 2+ more ppl with this earphone for same/different reason over there)

For the 2nd Replacement(Aug), the earphones ran into issue around early June but due to COVID & etc, I decided to get it replaced in later. So I couldn't even use the product for ~2 Months. This time, the problem started cropping up once again after I earphones drained out of battery. The problem was different though none the less. This time earphone stopped charging entirely. it would show charging indicator for 2-3 mins but it wouldn't just charge and indicator would turn green. tried multiple times on other cords, cleaning the connectors & etc. Once it worked and charged for good time and the indicator showed green. I disconnected and found that it only charged upto 50%, but it worked. I tried charging it again after that and spent 1-2 days on fixing it but it charged never again. So I visited the store once again. Spent ~30 mins in Queue and was informed that I would receive a call in a week(Which they did on time) to collect the replacement earphones. This time only new earphones were given when i went to collect them.

The earphones have been working so far rn, but atm, I am too sacred to use it much. I have made habit to keep them always on charge too cause I really dont want to go the hassle of replacing it again. What makes me angry though is that once warranty expires(in next 4 months), and such issue crop ups, I will not be even able to get them replaced for free thus turning it to pure waste. Even during my 2nd replacement there were 2-3 lads with exact earphones but with different problems,

I think such untested and bad quality product should never be released in the marked by any brand, which drop dead just after battery is drained.

The race to be volatile with the market doesn't means that Realme should produce dog shit quality product that is going to be utter waste of consumer money. I have been really disappointed by the company and purchase. This tale should also serve as caution for those looking to buy Wireless buds which every other company has joined the bandwagon to sell.
