I have both the Poco X3 and Redmi 9A. Both has 5,000mAh battery, they last all day (and then some) on moderate use, and both phones are just a tad thicker than a wooden pencil.

I don't care if your shit is optimized (looking at you, Apple). 5,000mAh is is 5,000mAh. If your stuff is optimized, then good, you get more mileage out of that battery.

It's nice not having to carry a powerbank or a charger with you. It's nice not having a lump behind your phone, just to extend its runtime. It's nice not having to micromanage your phone, just to make it last all day. It's nice to just be able to unplug and use it as you wish. You're not a slave to your battery/charger.

Seriously, like the title says. There's no more excuse for a smaller battery. I'm thankful for Xiaomi for cramming big batteries on their phones. That's one of the reasons I stick with them.

Anyone sticking with Xiaomi because of the great custom ROM and modding support community?

    Posted: 30 Aug 2021 08:00 PM PDT

I just can't imagine owning another Samsung or Huawei phone, even if I really wanted to. I had to let go of my Huawei Mate 30 Pro because it will eventually lose software support soon.

Planned obsolescence, manufacturers intentionally slowing their devices via software update. If you don't have control over your device, then there is nothing you can do. I paid full price on my phone, so I have the right to modify and tweak it whatever the hell I want. Custom ROMs make a lot of difference in features, performance, stability, battery life, and most importantly, longevity.

My old Redmi Note 4 is still alive because of custom ROMs. LineageOS or Pixel Experience with Franco Kernel offers me more than 9 hours of SoT.

Possible to disable IR Blaster (Redmi Note 10 S)

    Posted: 30 Aug 2021 06:32 PM PDT

So, we bought a fan recently and it's the kind with a remote control that works via IR. The thing is…. when my Redmi Note 10 S is on, the fan turns on and off by itself. I thought the fan was faulty, but then they suggested IR being an issue.. I turned off my phone and sure enough.. the fan worked fine.

All of our other remotes are bluetooth (or Apple TV remotes, which I guess is bluetooth as well still). Maybe I'm crazy / it's coincidence, but just to test, is it possible to DISABLE the IR blaster?

    Thanks in advance :)

Problems with inbuilt File app. Cannot attach files in Gmail or open file in any document viewer through the Files app.

    Posted: 30 Aug 2021 10:07 PM PDT

Can't even attach an image here through gallery or files app

Don't know if it is the Google files app problem or the inbuilt one.

Opening with es explorer works fine. But I can't use that to upload attachments to Gmail or attach images here. Apps always use the inbuilt method to transfer.

It's like my QCY T1 earphone has a life of its own. Sometimes it constantly hiccups and gets unsynchronized. Sometimes it works perfectly. Can anyone help, please?

    Posted: 30 Aug 2021 09:47 PM PDT

I don't actually know if this is the place to post this. I have a MI 9 LITE phone, and a QCY T1 Bluetooth earphone that sometimes constantly goes out of sync with each other, and hiccups. But sometimes under the same conditions works perfectly. It happens mostly when I go for walks, and more importantly when I don't put my phone in an armband. Like, if i put my MI 9 lite in my armband it rarely even hiccups. But if I leave it in my shorts pocket or something, most of the time down the road it starts hiccuping, going out of sync, the works. When I'm at home it works perfectly, I cant leave it on the table and walk around, leave on my pockets-- no problem. What the hell is going on?

Poco X3 Pro reboots for no reason

    Posted: 30 Aug 2021 01:12 PM PDT

My Poco X3 Pro sometimes reboots for no reason and when it reboots it doesn't show the Poco screen and the miui screen, it shows just the miui screen and then I need to enter password. And I have one more problem that happens sometimes: the phone uses itself and I can't do anything and I need to hold the power button to force reboot. How can I fix these both issues?

Is the built in screen recorder really that bad?

    Posted: 30 Aug 2021 07:11 AM PDT

I'm using a Xiaomi Mi 9T Pro. So far the phone has been very good for gaming, hell, even the split window runs 2 games smoothly. But I noticed that the screen recorder is really bad. Despite closing all the other apps I'm using, the audio would always be behind. Am I the only one experiencing this? Or should I just look for a better screen recorder?

huawei user here, does xiaomi have planned obsolescence like iphone and samsung?

    Posted: 30 Aug 2021 10:52 AM PDT

I have the p30 pro flagship phone from huawei. It was the last phone before usa banned them in terms of google software. I use it to do gig work and it's great, every software update never slowed my phone down. But now I want a second phone to multi app and I just want a phone that does have google software that does not purposely slow down over time like iphone or samsung. Does xiaomi do this? And if they do, does anyone know which phones besides huawei does not?

I am thinking of the poco x3 mid tier phone, it's 200 something dollars and looks fast. I don't need another flagship phone because I already have one.

Please help. Poco m3 shows camera error, some apps keep stopping.

    Posted: 30 Aug 2021 06:12 PM PDT

Hello. I'm encountering a camera error on poco m3 whenever I try to open the stock camera app. The error says "Can't connect to camera. Try restarting the device." I also keep getting alerts that Android System Webview, Chrome, and Feedback has stopped. I want to restart my device to see if it fixes the problem but I'm afraid that I'll brick my phone if I do, seeing as it is a common issue for this phone. Any advice on what to do?

Mi Smart LED Bulbs Essential - Issue with Google Home and SmartThings

    Posted: 30 Aug 2021 05:20 PM PDT

    Hello everyone,

I have a bunch of Xiaomi and Yeelight bulbs at home, configured in Xiaomi Home (which I don't really like). The Yeelight bulbs behave correctly when operated through Google Home and SmartThings, but the Xiaomi ones become blue or green instead of dimming. Only Xiaomi Home seems to operate them correctly.

I've tried removing them and adding again, to no avail.

There are no firmware updates or anything that could solve it.

    Anyone has some troubleshooting tips?

    Thank you!

Internal storage not showing in TWRP on Mi 11 Ultra

    Posted: 30 Aug 2021 01:17 PM PDT

I'm trying to update to a newer version of the eu ROM but when I load into TWRP, none of my internal storage files appear in the installer like I've seen in videos, and my phone won't show up in the file explorer on my computer unless I specifically mount it. I've been unable to locate the rom I downloaded online to install. Does anyone know what could be going wrong?

    Snapchat vocal message problem ...

    Posted: 30 Aug 2021 11:51 AM PDT

A bug that is Xiaomi-only, apparently.

When I send a vocal message on snapchat, the audio quality is really terrible : it sounds compressed to death, with an awkward robotic twist. And it's not a microphone issue since on any other app, the vocal messages I send are totally fine — and on snapchat, even the videos I record (you know, the purple snaps) have a great audio quality.

I have no idea how to fix this. Someone on a French forum suggested tapping on the microphone icon to dictate text, then recording an audio message in order to fix it. But it doesn't do anything.

Has anyone encountered the same problem / been able to fix it ? It's been almost two years, and I'm pissed.
