VLAN help with Unifi and pfSense throught a TP-Link switch Posted: 29 Aug 2021 10:53 AM PDT This is so stupid simple and I cannot for the life of me get this VLAN setup to work. I'm sure I'm missing this one little detail. I have watched Lawrence Systems videos on this topic and still can not get it to work. I'm thinking it's gotta be my switch configuration. All I want is a Guest network on the UniFi APs that VLAN's to pfSense and routes out to the internet, but cannot access the rest of the network. I do not need a captive portal. The network is as follows: I have screenshots to share here: I have setup the VLAN in pfSense as 192.168.50.0/24 and assigned it a DHCP pool that appears to work. It is piggybacking on the LAN interface with the rest of the network. I have firewall rules in place to prevent VLAN2 from talking to LAN computers. On the switch, I left all ports untagged, assuming that UniFi would put a tag on the packet, it would end up in pfSense, and pfSense would see that tag and handle it accordingly. I think my mistake is here. I can create the Guest wifi on UniFi and it provisions all of the APs just fine. But the devices that join that WiFi never get an IP address, so they are not talking to the pfSense device. Any advice is welcome. I have no idea what I'm doing wrong. [link] [comments] |
Convenience Store - how to accept credit card transactions when internet goes down? Posted: 29 Aug 2021 01:35 PM PDT Hello, My family owns a convenience store. It happens rarely but the internet goes does for several hours and it forces us to turn away customers because we cannot accept credit card transactions. Today the credit card terminal (the device that accepts card) is connected to internet using ethernet cable. I can get the register (which is on Windows) back online by connecting it wirelessly to my phone hotspot. However I cannot do that to the credit card terminal because it is connected using an ethernet cable. I did attempt to buy range extender with ethernet output. I would connect the range extender to my phone hotspot and then plug the ethernet out cable to credit card terminal. However, no luck since the transactions do not go thru for whatever reason still. Link to the extender: https://www.bestbuy.com/site/linksys-ac750-boost-range-extender-white/4580700.p?skuId=4580700 What is the best and cheapest way to get internet connection to the terminal so we can accept credit card transactions when the wired internet goes down? What options do I have other than paying $50 for a back up connection? Thank you [link] [comments] |
Cisco SX350X-24F - Can't set OOB static IP Posted: 29 Aug 2021 03:32 PM PDT Really weird issue Got a brand new Cisco SX350X-24F, updated the firmware to the latest and plugged in the OOB port, which was set to DHCP It works fine on DHCP, but as soon as I set the OOB port to static, it just stops working entirely. If I then console back in and set it to DHCP, it works fine Has anyone run into this? [link] [comments] |
Brocade VDX 6740 netinstall - Post-install documentation telling me to run commands that don't exist Posted: 29 Aug 2021 12:33 PM PDT I recently picked up a Brocade VDX 6740 switch for cheap because it was fully licensed and 10Gbit. I pulled a backup of the bootargs from BootROM and I have a complete NOS config backup. In short, through silliness, I ran a couple commands that wiped out something called the SEEPROM. At least, that's the theory. Anyway, I've done the netinstall process and I can get it to boot NOS, but there is no fan spin. It takes absurdly long for NOS to become functional, so I have a limited time before it auto-shutdowns for temperature. Post-install process says this: Problem is, that directory Hopefully someone out there has some backwoods secret documentation saved. [link] [comments] |
