Decent photo editing app to remove background on android?

    Posted: 28 Aug 2021 10:37 PM PDT

I'm looking for a good photo editing app that can remove the background on android similar to Pixelcut on iPhone (preferably exactly like Pixelcut). I have tried a few and the only one I found that can remove the background is overall a decent app in my opinion but when it removes the background on images it tends to have a slight bit leftover on the edges as well as some blur on the edges.

My business partner is extra picky about the photos and so he wants them to be "perfect" even though I don't think they really need to be, but it would be best if I could find an app with similar capabilities.

Once Pixelcut comes out for android I'm sure this won't be much of an issue but it's still not released yet so all I can do is search for a good alternative or wait for my friend to take the pictures and slowly edit them, which I think I can do much faster than he can but he is the one with the iPhone and I can't seem to meet his standards with my phone. Any suggestions are appreciated.

    Really good keyboard app?

    Posted: 29 Aug 2021 10:32 AM PDT

I'm wondering if there is anything I can use or if I'm just stuck with dealing with the big keyboard apps with their specific issues, and that's the only thing. I know the most popular options, but those seem to have their own issues, which I'll lay out here.

    1. Gboard doesn't let me customize the placement above the bottom of the phone, plus the placement of the symbols is annoying to access some specific symbols I tend to use commonly (I.e. /, `, and ^)

    2. SwiftKey is what I've been using, but it seems to be gout down hill fast. Previously my only issue with it was suggestions weren't too good, and holding backspace just erases entire words, which I got used to both. But now the clipboard button isn't able to be centered the same as it used to, and for some reason they added a big "To Do" button when copying anything now, which is completely useless to me, but it seems to be unable to be disabled. This also gets rid of the fact that previously, you could tap in the middle of the suggestions bar to paste what's on the clipboard. Now since both are centered, you have to hit the right area, which means looking down. Not only that but the theming isn't as good as I would like, though I'm also able to tolerate that. Also I hate how the clipboard auto deletes stuff after an hour.

    3. Samsung Keyboard is probably the worst I've had to deal with, for some reason on this note 10 it likes to drop inputs for whatever reason, and I have no clue as to why it does that. Not to mention there's still some hard-to-access symbols, such as ~, \, and ^

Are there any keyboard apps with an apostrophe shortcut like the one in the picture?

    Posted: 29 Aug 2021 10:21 AM PDT

Hello all. Recently switched from samsung galaxy to Motorola. What really irks me is that neither Gboard nor Swiftkey have an apostrophe shortcut (it has a non changable automatic slash/comma button). Are there any alternatives to Gboard that have this feature?. I've tried a lot of keyboard apps to no avail.

Question: Are games allowed to have in-app-purchases for gambling of digital-coins (not real money)?

    Posted: 29 Aug 2021 05:43 AM PDT

I hope it's the best subreddit to ask this question.

I've found a game that has a slot machine in it, and you can purchase tokens (very expensive too) to start the slot machine. Then you have a relatively very low chance to get anything out of it (to help you with the game).

Is it by the rules of the Play Store?

I've found the next link, but according to my understanding they talk only about rules of gambling of real money:

    https://support.google.com/googleplay/android-developer/answer/9877032

Is there at least an age restriction about it?

Dual SIM - Automatic Switch for Data connection?

    Posted: 29 Aug 2021 11:33 AM PDT

I have an Android mobile phone (Samsung A51) with dual SIM functionality

So SIM 1 is from a country A and SIM 2 is from the neighbor country B

Both cards don't support data roaming.

Now if u activate the data connection on SIM 1 and cross the border, you just lose the data / Internet connection.

Is there a way, an app or a setting to make the phone switch the data connection automatically from SIM 1 to SIM 2 when crossing the border? Or simply use the SIM Card for the data connection that is not in Roaming mode?

I looked around and didn't find a solution – can anyone help?

It will be much appreciated :)

Photo viewing app that can deal with Pixel's weird way of saving photos as separate folders

    Posted: 29 Aug 2021 10:58 AM PDT

So I uploaded all my photos to Google drive from my phone and am trying to look through them in a photo viewer app. So far, I have only tried to upload them to Google Photos and the stock photo viewer app on Windows 10. However it appears that my phone saved every photo as a separate folder? As a result, trying to upload these photos to preloaded photo viewing apps is less than ideal.

For instance, when I try to upload the photos from Drive to Google Photos, I would have to go into each individual photo folder to upload one of those "bursts." Does anyone know of a photo app for Windows or something where I can upload a folder with hundreds of folders (that have 1 or 2 photos in each of those folders).

I don't know if I explained it well but I can't believe I'm the first person to run into this issue...

What apps have a proper tablet UI?

    Posted: 28 Aug 2021 12:40 PM PDT

Let's just combine every third party Reddit client as most of them do have it.

    • Telegram has a two panel layout
    • Jira
    • Samsung Internet
    • Google Play Store is pretty acceptable. It replaced the bottom navigation view with a side panel
    • Google Photos has a similar implementation
    • Google Maps has a shorter search bar that looks similar to Apple Maps tablet UI
    • Apple Music has an adaptive grid layout and a mini expanded now playing screen

Looking for an app to set up rules for Bluetooth activation

    Posted: 29 Aug 2021 09:18 AM PDT

    Hi everyone,

Looking for an app that will turn off Bluetooth when my wifi is not connected to my home network, unless the Bluetooth is already connected to something.

So basically: 1. I'm at home connected to my wifi 2. Bluetooth is on but not connected 3. I leave home and lose my home network 4. Bluetooth turns off

    Or 1. .... 2. Bluetooth is connected 3. .... 4. Bluetooth stays on

Any apps out there that will let me set up rules like this?

    Thanks!

Looking for a multi-touch drawing app for Android.

    Posted: 29 Aug 2021 08:36 AM PDT

My son likes to draw on the tablet but he's too young to be super careful with it and usually has another finger somewhere on the screen. This messes up most drawing apps, so I'm wondering if there's a multi-touch input drawing app so having two or more fingers on the screen wouldn't ruin things.

Using FolderSync Pro to Automatically Delete Files and Folders

    Posted: 28 Aug 2021 11:50 AM PDT

I recently said in another thread that I'd maybe talk about how I delete temporary and downloaded files.

I'm not affiliated in any way with FolderSync or the company who make it.

To delete APK files I download from GitHub, (so I don't have to do it manually)...

    1. Create an empty folder
    2. In FolderSync create a folder pair
    3. Set the empty folder as "remote"
    4. Set the Downloads folder as "local"
    5. Sync type is "to local"
    6. Sync deletions is on
    7. Filters are set to include file types I want to delete when this runs

...and that's it. It can be triggered on a schedule, manually within the app or via gesture thanks to the "Sync All" shortcut, (although that does trigger all sync events configured to respond).

It works with SD Cards, USB sticks/drives and root too if you want/need it to.

It's not a "secure delete" that some might want, but if you're just looking for a way to automatically, (and on demand), clear your device of temporary files and folders and those you no longer need that you've downloaded you might want to look into using Folder Sync Pro to do so.

    If you decide to try...

Make sure that you have correctly configured the filtering options before you press the sync button or allow a scheduled sync to happen. It may not be easy to recover important files deleted by mistake.
