Dropped laptop - display chassis bent outwards slightly + faint backlight bleed Posted: 31 Jul 2021 08:57 PM PDT I fell asleep with my laptop on (Asus Zephyrus G14), and I must have rolled over, because in the morning it was on its side on the floor. My floor is carpet, so luckily there's no cracks or visible damage. However, the display chassis seems to have bent outwards (in the direction of a curved computer monitor), which is causing faint backlight bleed in two spots along the bottom of the screen. I believe the problem has to do with the hinge(s) being bent from the fall, which is causing the screen to flex. However, since nothing has actually broken, I can't see what would actually be wrong with the hinge, and I have no idea how to fix it myself or if it can be fixed. I tried setting some books on top of it to flatten it, but that didn't work (I'm sorry if I shouldn't have done that). Is it possible to repair the hinge/chassis? If it's possible, how much would it cost to repair? [link] [comments] |
