Lab Guy Turned Techy Just Got His First IT Job. Posted: 03 Aug 2021 11:58 AM PDT I've been a chemistry guy for the last 15 years working as a lead Lab tech, but I decided it was time for a change and to hang up my lab coat. I was just offered a job as a desktop install/remote management tech at a major tech company in my city. I couldn't believe they offered it to me without a tech job on my resume. Sad part is, this entry level tech job is equivalent pay to my chem job. I do have experience, just not by job title. IT regularly taps me to help with IT issues as our site doesn't have an onsite tech. And I've been building computers and servers for years as a hobby. I think what helped was building a webserver and hosting a website from my home. Something tangible for them to see that I knew at least a few things. I got the opportunity to mention it during the interview and they asked a lot of questions about what I have running. Now that I'm in it, I'm ready to absorb and learn as much as I can. There's always more to learn and so much I don't know. Any tips or key concepts to learn quickly to hit the ground running? Thanks. [link] [comments] |
Read Big Sur AFPS drive in Windows Posted: 02 Aug 2021 04:42 PM PDT I typically use AFPS for Windows by Paragon Software. However, they only support up to Catalina. I have an AFPS drive with Big Sur that I need to retrieve data from on a Windows 10 machine. Anyone know of a software that can read Big Sure AFPS encrypted drives (i have the password). Thank you!
