Simple alarm based on battery percent charge and not time. Android Apps

Simple alarm based on battery percent charge and not time.

    Posted: 14 Jul 2021 04:04 AM PDT

I'm looking for an alarm app or widget that plays the alarm when battery charging reaches a certain percent (say 75%). Don't want it to stop the charging or monitor battery usage or any other function really. Just trigger an alarm but instead of setting a time of day I set a battery percentage.

A friend suggested Accubattery but after using it for a couple of weeks, it actually consumes a lot if battery because it must be open in the background all time to gather and monitor battery usage.

Doesn't have to be free, paid app is fine.

    Thank you.

[Dev] [Update] - Plenary - RSS feed reader & a podcast player

    Posted: 14 Jul 2021 05:33 AM PDT

    Hey r/androidapps,

It's been over a year since the first time we launched Plenary here. We got a great reception and feedback. Following the great feedback that we got, we released a number of new features including a built in Podcast player and we again got great feedback.

We kept getting feedback and feature requests and Plenary has evolved into a truly beautiful experience both feature and UX wise. We wanted to share some of the cool features and improvements that we have pushed since we last presented Plenary to you. Before looking at all the cool new stuff, let's quickly summarise what Plenary is.

    Plenary is

    • An RSS feed reader app with which has novel ways to add feeds
    • A Podcast player with ability to save them offline
    • Offline articles downloader (similar to read it later apps)

Here are some of the new features that we have released over the last few updates:

    • Widgets (Premium): You can now create four different types of beautiful widgets. There are also rich configuration options for each widget you create. You can choose one or many feeds for each widget based on content of the feeds and your preference.
    • Podcast experience improvement: Podcast player now has settings to control playback speed and trim silence.
    • Web view support in Article previews: You can now choose between web view and native text view when viewing any article preview. You can choose between the two based on article content and your preference.
    • Multiple language support: Plenary is now available in 10 different languages. Though we started with auto translation, we are constantly receiving help from the community in translation to make it better. You can also contribute to translations (Just go to Profile -> Help up translate Plenary in the app or visit our project on oneskyapp.)

Apart from these, there were many small improvements like ability to disable animation, improved UI on feeds and plans screen, ability to delete categories and tags, Fixes for large OPML file imports and so on.

We'd greatly appreciate any feedback to make Plenary better. You can download Plenary from play store: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.spians.plenary

Google said it fixed the loophole to reach "Android" folder for file manager apps

    Posted: 14 Jul 2021 04:51 AM PDT

On Android 11 we can still somehow reach "Android" folder's real content using workaround on various file manager apps (such as "X-plore", "Mixplorer" and with some extra steps, "Total Commander") .

Well now sadly Google said that it fixed this loophole (link here, title:" Loophole to access Android/data on Android 11 ") :

The issue has been fixed and it will become be available in a future Android release.

I really wish they wouldn't block such a thing. It doesn't make sense that another device that's connected to mine can reach this folder, but I can't. Also file-manager apps should be equal to what you can reach via USB, let alone be able to reach all that the built-in "Files" (AKA "Documents" or "file picker") app can reach .

Any apps to download a url from the share button?

    Posted: 14 Jul 2021 09:20 AM PDT

Discord mobile sucks so images from bot embeds save the title instead (so i have a bunch of files named "Pinterest (pinterest.com)" etc. instead of the actual name) but the share button gives you an actual link. Is there an app to download this url so it's quicker than opening in browser and saving from there and tabbing back to discord. this is the share menu in question

all googling is giving me is stack overflow posts from Android devs writing apps and no actual apps to do this

Text To Speech on Android is just terrible

    Posted: 14 Jul 2021 10:18 AM PDT

I've tried dozens of apps, 4 different browsers, and multiple engines.

    The integrations are all awful.

You want TTS? Well just download this website or copy this article into an app and it will process into and audio file for you!

You don't want to download or copy? Well just use the built in Select To Speak or browser based tools that give you the worst voices and minimal to no navigation.

    Come on.

Is there not a single utility that can run on top, read what's on the screen with a decent voice, and allow navigation?

No, let's make the 970th app that lets you copy paste text into it and shoot out a .mp3. That's great! Maybe we can just a 1990s voice and burn it to a CD so I can listen to my article on my Walkman.

Please someone prove me wrong so I can stop whining.

New "Window Seat" app labels cities and more on the view from your airplane window (augmented-reality style). No ads. Free for the rest of 2021 (maybe longer). Works in airplane mode. Does not use data/wifi. [Detailed description and links below]

    Google play store link:

Window Seat lets you see geographical information from your airplane window. Looking down and seeing a small town? Window Seat will label it for you. Wondering what's beyond the horizon? Window Seat will show you that too. Window Seat labels cities, states, and country boundaries, and more.

Window Seat's database covers the whole planet, with 43000+ cities and sites, countries, territories, islands, states/provinces, rivers, lakes, major roads, mountains, and airports. Features will be drawn directly on the picture from your phone's camera. When you point the camera in a new direction, the labels and boundaries move and change with the picture.

Window Seat is completely self-contained, and runs even in airplane mode. You do not need data. You do not need wi-fi. All you need is your phone's GPS and compass.

How to import books from cloud drives appear onto the Shelf in Moon+ Reader?

    Posted: 14 Jul 2021 01:59 AM PDT

I was finally able to achieve the most sought after feature of cloud sync across android devices. So, now I can read downloaded public domain epub files, access highlights and notes across devices just like Kindle books.

BUT... to use this feature I can only access the files from a cloud drive every time I need to open them and I CANNOT IMPORT these files on to the Shelf or mark them as Favourites. That was a let down because I love to see the books I'm reading on Shelf.

Is there a way to import books from cloud drives also into the shelf?

Trying to find an app that will centralize company social media and internal newsletters.

    Posted: 14 Jul 2021 11:27 AM PDT

Hello everyone. As the title suggests, my company is trying to track down an existing app that can be used as a centralized location for employees to see videos and posts on our social media pages in addition to internal news.

Obviously this is a service that we'd be willing to purchase.

If anyone has a suggestion or advice on how to more narrow my search, I'd really appreciate it.

    Gboard - 'M' Key issue

    Posted: 14 Jul 2021 06:53 AM PDT

    Hi all,

I use gboard on my pixel 4a, but have an issue where half the time it won't recognise a press of the m key and thinks I'm pressing backspace.

Has anyone had similar issues? Its not a calibration issue as all other keys are fine.

I wish they'd let us move the backspace button off the main panel!

Is there an app that will turn off my phone at certain percentage? My phone is not rooted.

    Posted: 14 Jul 2021 12:23 PM PDT

Hello everyone, My phone a bit old at this point. So it will turn off randomly when the battery goes below 15%. I'd rather have it shutdown automatically when it reaches 20%. Can anyone suggest me an app that can do it? As mentioned in the title my phone is not rooted. Thank you!

Camera app that would allow me to pause/minimise/resume active video recording without terminating it.

I've been using Nonstop Cam for a while that does this, but it lacks additional functionality like quality settings, listening to music etc. Does someone know any alternative apps (if such exist)?

Voice recorder app with text annotations?

    Posted: 14 Jul 2021 05:32 AM PDT

It seems like a simple feature, but I've tried a lot of apps and still couldn't find a voice recorder app that would allow me to add text annotations/notes/comments/whatever to my recording. Basically, I need to add extra information to a recording after I recorded it, so anything would do really (an ability to add descriptions to recordings, or post-editing with the ability to record additional parts, etc), but ideally, I want to be able to add text notes and attach them to specific timestamps (similarly to the way SoundCloud comments work).

On a side note, I also really need to be able to categorize recordings (e.g. with folders or tags). Currently, I use Easy Voice Recorder which supports that, but unfortunately, it does not support annotations.

    Need help! 🙏

An alarm app where I can group alarms. Does it exist?

    Posted: 13 Jul 2021 08:15 PM PDT

Is there an alarm app where I can group alarms and turn them all on or off with a single click? E. G. Certain days of the week I have say a 5:30 wake up and have a few alarms that need to go off on/ after that time. Another day say I need to wake at 7am and so on. I would like to group 5:30 wake up alarms into one group and the 7am wake up into another making it easier for me to activate the alarms I needed with one click. Lifetime alarm clock is the only one I found with this feature but has limited number of groups and is limited in functionality.

Please tell me there are other apps out there. Any suggestions would be welcome. TIA.

    Botaity: Messenger Bot Builder

    Posted: 14 Jul 2021 09:50 AM PDT

I've been working on a chat bot builder for Facebook Messenger (alternative to ManyChat and BotSociety), but as a mobile app.

It allows you to set an endless levels of nested elements from buttons, quick replies, (list) images, etc..., in addition to your greeting message, persistent menus (bot menu), and enabling/disabling the bot for which pages.

It is built with Flutter. I hope to get feedback about it.

    Simple answering machine

    Posted: 14 Jul 2021 09:34 AM PDT

I cannot find an app that addresses my problem. I am unable to speak. I would like to have an app that when I answer my phone, it would play a pre-recorded message where I could tell the caller that I am unable to speak and they must use text messaging to converse with me. There are lots of apps available that act as voice mail. That is not what I want. As an example: I have a TTS app that I use for face to face conversations. If I could write an answer in that app and have it play to the caller when they call, it would solve my problem. I don't believe such a thing exists. Could I possibly find someone interested in developing it? As an example. I would like to answer my phone and have a message say "Hello. I am unable to speak. To talk to me you must use text messaging" Nearly all of my friends and family are aware of my condition, so I have no problem with them. The problem is with people calling from outside my contacts mostly.

App that can change the order of Text Selection Menu

    Posted: 14 Jul 2021 08:25 AM PDT

While reading a webpage, I usually add interesting words or phrases to my Anki for later use.

To do that I have to go through a few steps:

    1. Select the text,
    2. Waiting for its popup menu,
    3. then click on the ":" (to have more items)
    4. scroll up&down to find "Anki Card" (this will add a new note to my learning Deck)

The step 4 above is the most time consuming.

Is there any app that can help us doing this task more effectively?

Or is there any app that can help us change the order of items inside that ":'" menu? Like moving "Anki Card" to the top of the list?

    Thanks.

May you all be well and happy!
