    My laptop restarts when I am not around , if I am working nothing happens but if I leave it for more than 20 minutes when I come to work again the screen will be black and when I move the mouse I find myself on the lock screen and when I enter everything will be closed

    I need to get a laptop for 3d modeling and someone recommended the Dell inspiron 30000 (the reason I brought up specs is since it has multiple versions)

    • 14 inch FHD with 1080p
    • 8GB or memory / 265GB memory
    • quad core AMD ryzen 5 3500U prossesor

    Are these enough for more basic 3d modeling or should I look for something else more powerful.

    HP Probook 4340s

    Hello,

    I was recently gifted an old HP Probook 4340s. It's my first laptop, so I need to seek help before doing anything stupid. It has an age-old Pentium 2020M and 4gb's of RAM. I know putting 8gb's of ram is definitely possible but could I do a CPU swap for like, let's say a i7-3632QM? Or is there any other good CPU swap option you would recommend? Could there be like a option to fit some dedicated gpu inside?

    Looking for a laptop for computer engineering in college

    Recently I have been torn between waiting to purchase the new M1x/m2 macbooks, just buying an m1 macbbok, or something else altogether. Not sure if posts like these are meant to go on this sub but advice would be appreciated. Ive got a budget of around $2200. I do a little bit of gaming here and there but I've got my switch and a desktop I built. really looking for productivity.

    How would you prioritize form factor (ultrabook, 2-in-1, etc.), build quality, performance, and battery life?

    Don't really mind the form factor, an 8 hour battery is a must.

    How important is weight and thinness to you?

    Not important at all.

    Do you have a preferred screen size? If indifferent, put N/A.

    Are you doing any CAD/video editing/photo editing/gaming? List which programs/games you desire to run.

    No not really, its purely school work.

    If you're gaming, do you have certain games you want to play? At what settings and FPS do you want?

    I'm not gaming.

    Any specific requirements such as good keyboard, reliable build quality, touch-screen, finger-print reader, optical drive or good input devices (keyboard/touchpad)?

    I'll be using a wireless mouse, touch screen would be nice but I wouldn't mind too much if it wasn't there. They keyboard can't be too loud, ill be in a quiet and small classroom.

    The budget can go upto 3300 if really needed.

    I'm not able to take any pictures right now, but i got my laptop a few years ago. I opened the screen too hard and accidentally ripped it off it's hinges, now the screen is just hanging on by a single wire. Is there anyway it can be repaired, or is it a hopeless case?

    Best build quality laptops

    Every year I ask if any company comes close to macbooks' build quality. Every year I get a mix of "no" and "wtf are you talking about, apple is overpriced trash" from folks who have never owned one.

    Here's the 2021 edition: Does anything out there even attempt to be as well designed and built as a macbook? Please no apple haters respond unless you have actually owned an apple laptop and found something better.

    This year I am actually interested in buying one! But even though I have asked every year for the past four or so, every year it turns out all windows laptops are a gamble when it comes to build quality.

    I don't care about price at all. I will pay double the "apple tax" if a laptop out there exists with similar build quality and an nvidia GPU. I want something that doesn't feel like it was designed by 8th graders during detention - and TBH I am at this point a little pissed that nothing out there seems to exist.

    This may be unrelated to this subreddit but I didnt know who else to ask. I'm using the akg type c earbuds on my legion 5 (2020) but the problem is that either the playback works (as in I can hear sound through my headphones) or the recording works (microphone) but they dont work at the same time (if I plug and unplug it, it switches (as in the recording stops and playback starts and vice versa) I can also do the same thing from the sound control panel by disabling one of them which causes the other to work. PLEADE ANYONE TELL ME HOW TO FIX THIS

    inquiry about a specific laptop

    Hi there laptop people! I've recently saved up enough money to buy myself a new laptop. I've been using a terrible one for about 5 years that I got for 200 dollars at best buy, and I'm long overdue for an upgrade. Mostly what I'm looking for is a laptop that can handle word processing and editing software (which is probably a given) and some decent video games. Not the most recent AAA games, but stuff like Fallout: New Vegas and Counter Strike: Global Offensive.

    I did a little shopping around, and right now the one that looks the best for my price range is this listing on amazon right here for the HP Pavilion 15-ec1008ca but I wanted to check with you guys before I buy to make sure I'm not making a massive mistake.

    I'll post the specs right here copied from the amazon listing

    CPU: AMD Ryzen 5 4600H (3.0 GHz base clock, up to 4.0 GHz max boost clock, 3 MB L2 cache, 6 cores)

    GPU: AMD Radeon Graphics

    RAM: 8 GB

    I'm a major newbie to tech stuff, so if there's any advice you have for me it would be greatly appreciated. If you have another recommendation I do want to mention I'm not looking for anything too far above 650 dollars.

    Does this small laptop sound familiar? Trying to find it again.

    as the title says; it's a bit of a longshot, i know. i got this laptop secondhand in 2012/2013 and passed it on about two years later. the screen size was around 10-12 inches, and it was all white plastic. the OS was ubuntu i believe, with the interface being a dark blue (not sure how much this affects things. there was a native tetris-like game as well).

    on the lid it had a swirled/vine/filigree design (white on white, was very intriguing) and a grey suede sleeve it was in when not in use with a white swirl design on the bottom half of it. the cable did not fit in the bag, and was quite chunky/bulky. i don't recall any branding, though there may have been a backlit logo on the lid when it was open (not showing when closed).

    does any of this sound familiar/ring a bell? i've tried looking for it, but i know nothing about computers in general and don't know where to begin searching, really.

    I think there is a bug nest inside my notebook screen frame

    Sometimes i see very little bugs on the screen, passing by then vanish. First i thought theyre jumping out somewhere but realized that they just go inside the frame. How do i get rid of them ?

    Speaker sounded muffled, updated driver, now zero speaker sound

    My speakers sounded extremely quiet and muffled and I couldn't hear anything past under 40. My troubleshoot told me to update the driver and I did. Now after I can't even hear anything, only if I use headphone. How do I fix this?
