    • Are you open to refurbs/used?

      No

    • How would you prioritize form factor (ultrabook, 2-in-1, etc.), build quality, performance, and battery life?

      Not too heavy or bulky

    • Do you have a preferred screen size? If indifferent, put N/A.

      At least 14"

      Backlit would be nice

Budget friendly with the availability to have open tabs with not a lot of slow down. Honestly just need it for p0rn.

Want to buy a laptop for my dad. Based in Ireland in case that's relevant. Would be very appreciative of any help. I have filled out the questionnaire below.

    Posted: 01 Jul 2021 03:33 AM PDT

    LAPTOP QUESTIONNAIRE

    • Total budget (in local currency) and country of purchase. Please do not use USD unless purchasing in the US:

    less than 400 euro

    • Are you open to refurbs/used?

    No

    • How would you prioritize form factor (ultrabook, 2-in-1, etc.), build quality, performance, and battery life?

Would like long battery life, just able to run basic chrome browser and microsoft office applications like word, excel and power point. Would like a fast boot up time.

    • How important is weight and thinness to you?

Not too heavy, as he may want to take it to his work for use. but still a large enough screen so not a 14"" i think.(he's in his late 60's)

    • Do you have a preferred screen size? If indifferent, put N/A.

Bigger than 14" so its easier to read what's on the screen.

    • Are you doing any CAD/video editing/photo editing/gaming? List which programs/games you desire to run.

    No

    • If you're gaming, do you have certain games you want to play? At what settings and FPS do you want?

    Not gaming

    • Any specific requirements such as good keyboard, reliable build quality, touch-screen, finger-print reader, optical drive or good input devices (keyboard/touchpad)?

    I don't think so.

    • Leave any finishing thoughts here that you may feel are necessary and beneficial to the discussion.

He'll mainly use it to research topics (so chrome would be important) and to write up papers on those topics (so using microsoft word). I would like it too booth up fast so it is convenient for him and processor fast enough that he can navigate the internet and use microsoft office without it being slow. But I don't need a really powerful laptop as it won't be used for gaming or anything else really.

Thank you very much for any suggestions.

[PLEASE HELP ME OUT] - Should I buy this XPS 15 7590 for $900?

    Posted: 01 Jul 2021 01:51 AM PDT

I've gotten a chance to buy a brand new Dell XPS 15 7590 for $900. These are the exact specs:

    https://www.cnet.com/products/dell-xps-15-7590-15-6-core-i7-9750h-16-gb-ram-512-gb-ssd/

I don't know much about computers, but from what I've read the XPS 15 is pretty good. It's typically around $1500 afaik, but the 7590 is like 2 years old now, right? I'm pretty clueless, which is why I need your help, questions:

    >Should I buy this thing, is it worth $900? (Main question)

    >Previously I've been looking at Lenovo Ideapad 5, how would that compare to XPS 15 7590?

PS. My requirements/desires for the computer are:

    -Handles Office work very well

    -Can do some light gaming.

    -Good battery life

    -Good build quality and durability

    Thanks in advance!

    Gaming Laptop Around £1500

    Posted: 01 Jul 2021 04:37 AM PDT

    • Total budget (in local currency) and country of purchase. around £1500 GBP
    • Are you open to refurbs/used? no
    • How would you prioritize form factor (ultrabook, 2-in-1, etc.), build quality, performance, and battery life? Priority, first to last - build quality, quiet running, performance, battery life, form factor.
    • How important is weight and thinness to you? not important at all
    • Do you have a preferred screen size? If indifferent, put N/A. 15 inch+
    • Are you doing any CAD/video editing/photo editing/gaming? List which programs/games you desire to run. Mainly gaming. No specific games but examples would be Cyberpunk, Flight Simulator.
    • If you're gaming, do you have certain games you want to play? At what settings and FPS do you want? 60 FPS minimum at High/Ultra
    • Any specific requirements such as good keyboard, reliable build quality, touch-screen, finger-print reader, optical drive or good input devices (keyboard/touchpad)? Yes good keyboard and reliable quality. As non-gamer looking as possible. Prefer non-RGB keyboard or at least to be able to turn RGB off completely. Definitely no different coloured/marked WASD keys - one of my pet hates.
    • Leave any finishing thoughts here that you may feel are necessary and beneficial to the discussion. Laptops I have considered so far with brief comments:

Dell G15 (11800H/3060) - Plastic build but seems sturdy. Dell don't have great reputation for thermals. Differently marked WASD keys is a big turn off for me though.

Asus ROG Strix G15 - far too gamer looking so dismissed this one quickly. A bit out of my price range anyway.

Lenovo Legion 5 (5800H/3070) - looked good but the build quality looks really dodgy. Judging by videos the hinge design is really bad and another user review stated the lid was very flimsy.

Lenovo Legion 5 Pro (5800H/3070) - was the front runner but no availability. Not sure how much better the build quality is than the non pro. A bit more gamer looking than the non pro as well. Also reviews say fans get noisy quickly - how does this compare with non-pro?

Best Laptop for gaming in the 600-700$ range

    Posted: 30 Jun 2021 07:47 PM PDT

Broke ass motherfucker here. I've been PC gaming on my terrible laptop that I got for around 200 dollars a couple of years ago, and basically all it can handle is minecraft, n64 emulation, and a few indie games. But thankfully I'm finally in the position to upgrade, within a certain price range of course. However, before I place the order for a new laptop, I want to get yous guys' opinion. What do you think would be the best laptop for gaming in that price range?

For a bit of context, I'm currently looking at the Acer Aspire E 15, and it seems to fit my needs relatively well, but I've seen posts on other subreddits saying that its intel core i5 processor is suboptimal for gaming. I'm also not looking to play any games that are too intensive, for instance, I currently own but am unable to run Fallout: New Vegas (yes my computer is that bad), and I would love to be able to play some CS:GO again (used to live with a buddy who let me play it on his PC, haven't for a few years though, not sure if anyone still plays it lol). I'm not looking for anything compact either, as I prefer to have larger screens and number pads, and storage isn't an issue for me (so please god no apple products).

I'm not sure if you guys are open for general tech questions like this, but if you have any advice for me please leave it in the comments. I need to make sure I'm buying the right thing.

Should I go for a RYZEN 3 5300u laptop or I3 1115G4 Laptop? If I'm getting both in same Price?

    Posted: 01 Jul 2021 04:31 AM PDT

So basically I'm going to use this laptop for programming and some other normal things like movies and word, excel and all.

I'm not going to do any heavy duty work like android Development and M.L.

I just need a laptop for my 4yrs of college and learning programming and Web Development and some small side freelance work.

So I'm getting a nice laptop under my budget range:-

The specifications of both laptop are:-

    1. 8gb ram DDR4 (going to add extra 8gb later)
    2. 512gb PCIe NVMe M.2 SSD
    3. FHD anti glare display (1920 x 1080)

The only difference between these laptop is the processor:-

    Laptop 1:-

    1. AMD Ryzen™ 3 5300U
    2. cache = 6mb total
    3. Cores/threads= 4cores/8 threads

    Laptop 2:-

    1. intel i3 111G4 11th gen
    2. Cache:- 6mb total
    3. Cores/threads = 2cores/4 threads

What laptop should I go with?

      No.

Battery Life = Performance > Build Quality

Yes, it needs to be light so it can be portable.
    • Do you have a preferred screen size? If indifferent, put N/A.

Need Recommendations For Gaming Laptop (up to $3000 USD)

    Posted: 01 Jul 2021 04:18 AM PDT

    • Total budget (in local currency) and country of purchase. Please do not use USD unless purchasing in the US:
I'll consider anything up to around $3000 USD,
    • Are you open to refurbs/used?
I guess so, but I feel like something new is probably a better fit.
    • How would you prioritize form factor (ultrabook, 2-in-1, etc.), build quality, performance, and battery life?
Performance and build quality are king for me. It'd be nice to have something portable with decent battery life if I wanted to take it with me when I travel, but the majority of the time it'll be on my desk at home.
    • How important is weight and thinness to you?
Nice to have, but not a big priority.
    • Do you have a preferred screen size? If indifferent, put N/A.
I think 15.6" is my sweet spot, but again I'm open to anything since it's going to primarily be at my desk at home.
    • Are you doing any CAD/video editing/photo editing/gaming? List which programs/games you desire to run.
Just gaming, aside from the usual things like web browsing.
    • If you're gaming, do you have certain games you want to play? At what settings and FPS do you want?
I don't necessarily have specific games in mind. I enjoy action/adventure, shooters, and puzzle type games mostly, with some indie stuff sprinkled in. Basically, I'd love to be able to run triple A games at high/ultra settings with a good framerate for at least a couple years.
    • Any specific requirements such as good keyboard, reliable build quality, touch-screen, finger-print reader, optical drive or good input devices (keyboard/touchpad)?
Solid build quality and enough I/O to facilitate a nice desktop workstation (wired mouse and keyboard, external monitor, etc.) would be nice.
    • Leave any finishing thoughts here that you may feel are necessary and beneficial to the discussion.
I know it's a big ask, but I'm basically looking for something that should be at least mildly competitive with the new gen consoles for at least a couple years. In other words, something that plays triple A's smoothly without compromising too much visually.

Is is worth looking to budget laptops now?

    Posted: 30 Jun 2021 02:01 PM PDT

I start university in September, which is when I also get my maintenance loan. I was previously interested in the old Lenovo Legion 5 before the new ones were released and now the specific model I wanted is not available any more and the newer versions are too expensive (>£800). So I was wondering if it is worth to look for laptops now so I can better plan out my budget but risk the model not be available, or just wait and if so are there any upcoming laptops I should look forward to. Thanks

Worth noting that I am study computer science so it would need to good for programming and I play league of legends, GBA, DS and 3DS emulators. However, I would love to be able to play PS3 and Switch, if possible, games too as my current laptop cannot handle them. Here's a link to a form I previously posted: Laptop for Computer Science university student, UK : SuggestALaptop (reddit.com)

My old laptop has given up the ghost. Help me find a replacement?

    Posted: 01 Jul 2021 03:50 AM PDT

    LAPTOP QUESTIONNAIRE

    • Total budget (in local currency) and country of purchase. Please do not use USD unless purchasing in the US:
      £900-£1800 Buying in the UK.
    • Are you open to refurbs/used?
      Yes
    • How would you prioritize form factor (ultrabook, 2-in-1, etc.), build quality, performance, and battery life?
Build quality (my previous laptop has lasted ten years Alienware M11X R3), performance, battery (being able to run it for a few hours of Board Game Arena without too much heat and fan noise on battery would be nice) and finally form factor.
    • How important is weight and thinness to you?
Important. My old laptop is about 2kg, and this feels heavy and dense to me. I'd prefer something lighter. My girlfriend has an M1 for work, so something between the two.
    • Do you have a preferred screen size? If indifferent, put N/A.
Max 15.6" is what I'd like. I've been used to M11X after all. 16:10 would be a real bonus, but I'm not sure why. I'd be interested to know what the battery implications of a QHD panel are.
    • Are you doing any CAD/video editing/photo editing/gaming? List which programs/games you desire to run.
I used to do Cinema 4D work as a hobby, and it is something I'd like to get back into. I also did graphic work and animation in After Effects as part of my degree. Something that facilitates that, as well as playing gaming titles I've missed, would be ideal.
    • If you're gaming, do you have certain games you want to play? At what settings and FPS do you want?
I would like to catch up on some games that I've missed, like the two Ori games, Hades, any other games like that and Cities Skylines/Total War: Warhammer 2 look good. I'm not too worried about detail settings, the higher the better, my old machine hardly runs anything without sounding like a hairdryer. If it can keep playing newer indie games, that would be great.
    • Any specific requirements such as good keyboard, reliable build quality, touch-screen, finger-print reader, optical drive or good input devices (keyboard/touchpad)?
A webcam would be nice, and a finger print scanner, dedicated graphics. I feel like AMD is what I should be looking for, but for my use case that might not be the ideal.
    • Leave any finishing thoughts here that you may feel are necessary and beneficial to the discussion.
I'm aware that no laptop will last the same amount of time as my old one hung on for. There's a lot of quality control issues there are in all brands of laptop. This concerns me, and I've been researching laptops for years to try and find something that works for me. At the same time, I appreciate that anything will be an upgrade. I'd also appreciate information about peripherals. If I'm gaming, should I get an external monitor with a higher refresh rate and 1440p? What about a dock for it? Many thanks for your help.

    Gaming laptop for £600-£700?

    Posted: 01 Jul 2021 03:36 AM PDT

    LAPTOP QUESTIONNAIRE

    • **Total budget (in local currency) and country of purchase. Please do not use USD unless purchasing in the US:**£600-£700 (£800 if I have to).
    • **Are you open to refurbs/used?**Preferably not as I want my laptop to last.
    • **How would you prioritize form factor (ultrabook, 2-in-1, etc.), build quality, performance, and battery life?**Just a standard laptop... for build quality I presume everything in this price-range will be plastic, but like I mentioned earlier, possibly a good build that will last some time. For performance, I will be playing a few medium-high end games, I'll be fine playing games at at least medium graphics 1080p 60fps. For battery life, I'm not too worried about it when heavy gaming as I'm likely going to have a charger nearby/on the laptop, BUT I will be using this laptop daily for homeschooling, so for light use I'm expecting relatively high battery life.
    • **How important is weight and thinness to you?**As long as it's comfortable enough to carry by and and in bag, this isn't much of a worry BUT I'm looking for a more simplistic looking 'gaming' laptop, as laptops like the Nitro 5 seem to stick out as "gamey" too much for me.
    • **Do you have a preferred screen size? If indifferent, put N/A.**15.6 is fine for me.
    • **Are you doing any CAD/video editing/photo editing/gaming? List which programs/games you desire to run.**I won't be video or photo editing, but I'm looking for a capable enough laptop to run some more demanding games like GTA V, Payday 2 or Apex Legends.
    • **If you're gaming, do you have certain games you want to play? At what settings and FPS do you want?**Games like GTA V are likely the beefiest games I'm going to play. I'm fine with medium/high settings, 1080p 60fps.
    • **Any specific requirements such as good keyboard, reliable build quality, touch-screen, finger-print reader, optical drive or good input devices (keyboard/touchpad)?**Keyboard - something that is comfortable enough for long use such as gaming or homework. Also, with a keypad. Reliable build quality - hopefully something good for the price, as I'm looking for a laptop that will last. Touch-screen/fingerprint reader - not concerned. Optical drive - hopefully something that can read DVD's and older games on CD's. Things like Blu-Ray aren't a concern to me. Touchpad - preferably a touchpad with buttons as I find that more comfortable and less tedious to use. Also, something comfortable enough for long homework use.
    • **Leave any finishing thoughts here that you may feel are necessary and beneficial to the discussion.**I'm hopefully looking for a laptop that is upgrade able, as it's likely that a new laptop will come with 8GB RAM or 256GB storage (which might be a bit little for me). Also, preferable a laptop with an SSD, or at least be upgrade able. Perhaps at least 500GB storage out of the box will do, though I might upgrade up to 1TB. For other specs, GTX 1650 4GB seems like enough for the game I will be playing, and I assume it's likely that it will come with a 9th or 10th gen i5 CPU, which will also be fine. A LAPTOP IN THE UK. Also, Acer laptops attract me as they have good builds, are trusted and seem to last a while.

    Any other questions? Will answer.

    Thanks in advance!

    Huawei Matebook D14 2021 dilemma

    Posted: 01 Jul 2021 03:11 AM PDT

Looking to buy a Matebook D14 2021. I've decided that I'm going to pick the 16GB RAM + +-1TB SSD version, although I haven't yet decided whether I should go team Blue or team Red - their respective offerings are an i5-1135g7 with Iris Xe and R5-4600H with its respective Vega something or other integrated graphics.

To put it straight: I do NOT want a laptop with dedicated graphics. No need for the additional "performance", especially since it's gonna affect my battery and current iGPUs basically match NVIDIA's MX series in terms of usability.

What is the Matebook going to be used for?: Internet, multimedia, school work, general telegram chatting, a bit of Discord, and maybe a game of Counter-Strike every now and then. Also, I think this is pretty important: it's going to run Linux, probably Void or Arch as its main OS (and I'm planning on dual-booting, or heck, even triple-booting if it's possible to load up macOS on this bad boy).

So far, I'm leaning towards the i5-1135g7 variant. However, I believe getting a few more opinions before purchasing should be a good idea.

    Thanks in advance, fellow geeks.

Need a Laptop to Replace my Macbook Pro!

    Posted: 01 Jul 2021 01:42 AM PDT

Total budget (in local currency) and country of purchase. Please do not use USD unless purchasing in the US:

Around $3000 Singapore Dollars so around $2200USD. Country of purchase Singapore.

    Are you open to refurbs/used?

Not really. Ideal would be new.

How would you prioritize form factor (ultrabook, 2-in-1, etc.), build quality, performance, and battery life?

Performance, battery, build quality, form factor

How important is weight and thinness to you?

As long as it's not too heavy like 3kg. Coming from a MBP I would rather it be thin.

Do you have a preferred screen size? If indifferent, put N/A.

15 inches. My 13in MBP was too small and the 17in laptops are way too big.

Are you doing any CAD/video editing/photo editing/gaming? List which programs/games you desire to run.

I will be editing photos and videos and light gaming. Eg. Photoshop, Lightroom, Capture One Pro, Premiere Pro... For games I play strategy games like HOI4, Warhammer 2, Civ 5/6. Only graphics intensive game I play is probably Warhammer 2 Total War.

If you're gaming, do you have certain games you want to play? At what settings and FPS do you want?

Warhammer 2. Doesn't have to be the top settings. As long as it looks fine.

Any specific requirements such as good keyboard, reliable build quality, touch-screen, finger-print reader, optical drive or good input devices (keyboard/touchpad)?

GOOD INPUT DEVICES AND SCREEN. Coming from a MacBook pro these are the top priority. Reliable build quality is a plus point that is nice to have.

I will be going overseas to study so this laptop would have to be able to do everything I need to have it do.

Leave any finishing thoughts here that you may feel are necessary and beneficial to the discussion.

Right now based on my (limited) research I'm thinking of getting the new Dell XPS 15, with the RTX 3050Ti and I7 8 core chip with 16Gb of ram. The great screen, input devices, build quality, and decent performance seems perfect for me. The only thing is the price is on the high side.

Let me know if there's any other options available on the market that suits my needs, thank you!!

Any alternative for HP ProBook x360 435 G8?

    Posted: 01 Jul 2021 01:22 AM PDT

    Hi everyone,

I'm looking for a laptop for software development only. My hard requirements are:

    • compact, up to 14"
    • touchscreen
    • 32GB RAM (or extendable to 32GB)
    • up to 1500-1700 euro (EU/Poland/Germany)

I also assume that Ryzen Cezanne or Intel 11th Gen CPUs offer best performance but I'm not sure how much it's different from previous generations. Fingerprint scanner would be a plus. I can wait for up to 3 weeks.

Anyway, I found that the only laptop that satisfies my requirements is HP ProBook x360 435 G8 (for example model 32N18EA with 5800U for ~1250€). I'm kind of a noob in laptops (working on desktop or company-provided laptop), so my questions are:

    1. Is it really the only model? Did I miss any alternatives?
    2. Seems like that particular model has kind of a bad display? Does it matter?
    3. I see more expensive laptops (over 2000€) - Lenovo ThinkPad X1 Yoga, MSI Summit E13 Flip Evo, DELL XPS 13. Why HP is so cheap compared to them, am I missing something?
    4. Is it better to buy top model (32GB/1TB SDD) or buy lower one (8GB/256GB SSD) and upgrade by myself?

I'm looking for something for a combination of work (outlook/word/pdf and usually dozens of browser tabs) but with a decent enough GPU for some gaming and VR stuff. Possibly something that would stand up to a bit of overnight crypto mining, but not essential. Ideally something which will last me a few years of pretty heavy use (12-14hrs a day).

Was looking at the following but open to alternatives:

    https://www.amazon.co.uk/dp/B08T9YFKCD?smid=A3P5ROKL5A1OLE&th=1

    https://www.laptopsdirect.co.uk/lenovo-legion-5-amd-ryzen-7-5800h-16gb-512gb-ssd-15.6-inch-fhd-geforce-rtx-82ju002yuk/version.asp#!#specs

Edit: just seen I can get the Legion from Costco for £50 less

    https://www.costco.co.uk/Computers/Laptops-MacBooks/Lenovo-Legion-5-AMD-Ryzen-7-16GB-RAM-512GB-SSD-NVIDIA-GeForce-RTX-3070-156-Inch-Gaming-Laptop-82JU002YUK/p/356241

plus I get 2% cashback, so another £25 off.... That might make my decision...

    LAPTOP QUESTIONNAIRE

    • Total budget (in local currency) and country of purchase. Please do not use USD unless purchasing in the US:~£1,500
    • Are you open to refurbs/used?Ideally not
    • How would you prioritize form factor (ultrabook, 2-in-1, etc.), build quality, performance, and battery life?Laptop will mainly sit on a desk, occasionally used to travel, so form factor not that important.
    • How important is weight and thinness to you?Not particularly.
    • Do you have a preferred screen size? If indifferent, put N/A.N/A will spend most of it's time attached to a 32" monitor
    • Are you doing any CAD/video editing/photo editing/gaming? List which programs/games you desire to run.Ideally able to run AAA games and VR
    • If you're gaming, do you have certain games you want to play? At what settings and FPS do you want?Nope
    • Any specific requirements such as good keyboard, reliable build quality, touch-screen, finger-print reader, optical drive or good input devices (keyboard/touchpad)?I'll use external webcam, keyboard, mouse, etc so not really
    • Leave any finishing thoughts here that you may feel are necessary and beneficial to the discussion.Needs to have plenty of Ram (16gb+), decent size SSD (or option to add extra SSD)

    Any help would be appreciated.

    Laptop for Architecture study

    Posted: 01 Jul 2021 01:08 AM PDT

Hi guys, I'm looking for a new laptop for architecture study. So far I came to the conclusion that 32GB RAM and 8GB VRAM will work best for me and my budget ~2700€. So far I'm interested in these: MSI Creator 15 (RTX 3070). Acer ConceptD 7 E, really like the idea to be able to sketch on it. Gigabyte Aero 15 RTX 3070, but have heard about wifi issues. ASUS ROG Zephyrus RTX 3070 (may upgrade to 32GB). Lenovo Legion 7 / 7i. Lenovo Legion 5 Pro. Not very interested in refurbs. All very good hardware but benchmark performance varies. What's best for 2D/3D work and rendering? I'm from Germany.

<800€/950$ Laptop, possibly used, to do some CAD work on, light programming and gaming

    Posted: 01 Jul 2021 01:03 AM PDT

Hello, I'd like to change my current laptop (ACER A715-71G) for something possibly lighter, easier to maintain and quieter, as the fans are driving me crazy.

Current one has an i7-7700HQ, GTX1050, 15" Display. Is there something equivalent for a price <800€/950$? I don't care if this price is only to be found with an used one, as long as I can find laptops in good conditions.

    What I'll do with it:

    • Light gaming (CSGO, maybe some minecraft, nothing AAA-tier.. current one can run skyrim but it gets mega hot)
    • 3D Cad work
    • Some programming in C, python, matlab
    • Web browsing, some office work, some streaming, usual thingies

It doesn't have to be super-duper modern, could also be 14" instead of 15" I guess, but I'd love something that is quiet (i.e. not sounding like a drone under load), has a decent weight (<2.5kg) and with good Linux compatibility, so I don't have to pray to get a BIOS that is permissive enough to dual-boot.

Swappable RAM and HDD/SSD much appreciated. Decent battery duration as well, but I mostly use it when plugged in, except the occasional trip in which I could stay 3-4 hours without electricity (in which case I wouldn't use it for heavy stuff, e.g. gaming in the train :))

    Thanks for all suggestions!

Durable and battery strong multitasking laptop wanted! :)

    LAPTOP QUESTIONNAIRE

    • Total budget (in local currency) and country of purchase. Please do not use USD unless purchasing in the US:
      1000€ max, Germany

    • Are you open to refurbs/used?
      yes

    • How would you prioritize form factor (ultrabook, 2-in-1, etc.), build quality, performance, and battery life?
battery life is very important to me; performance in terms of multitasking and some scientific data analysis, but not a gamer; ultrabook would be nice, but open-minded

    • How important is weight and thinness to you?
      quite important

    • Do you have a preferred screen size? If indifferent, put N/A.
      14" or 15"

    • Are you doing any CAD/video editing/photo editing/gaming? List which programs/games you desire to run.
not a gamer, simple games like it takes two or overcooked; want to do some music production potentially

    • Any specific requirements such as good keyboard, reliable build quality, touch-screen, finger-print reader, optical drive or good input devices (keyboard/touchpad)?
good, back-lit keyboard, display suitable to work outside in sun; USB & HDMI possible; reliable in battery life

    • Leave any finishing thoughts here that you may feel are necessary and beneficial to the discussion.
I will need it mainly for a lot of multitasking and some music production in my free time; long and reliable battery and mobility is important to me, would like to not need to buy a new laptop after 2 years because the battery loses so much power within such a short time and is not changeable.
My laptop should be able to handle Spotify, a browser with some more tabs open, word, excel, slack, a PDF reader and R Studio/Spyder running some data analysis at the same time; windows preferred but may be open for mac

Looking forward to your suggestions, thanks! :)

[For linux and programming] I'm looking at an all-AMD laptop with a budget around 1200 €

    Posted: 01 Jul 2021 12:34 AM PDT

    Hello,

I'm currently in the market for a Ryzen-based laptop for programming. I've narrowed it down to Nouveau Inspiron 14 2-in-1 and Dell G5 AMD 15 Gaming Laptop . My biggest conflict is, the the 2-in-1 seems far more practical for everyday use. However, with a much better and powerful GPU, I can future proof the gaming laptop and can potentially use the GPU for intensive tasks.

Do you have an input or alternative suggestions for me ?

    Reason for all-AMD:

    • I prefer Ryzen seems it to be the top dog in CPU space at moment.
    • I'm also trying to Nvidia due driver issues in Linux (which AMD doesn't have due to officially supported open-source drivers)

Not a huge issue, though as thin as possible within price range
    • Do you have a preferred screen size? If indifferent, put N/A.
      ~14"
    • Are you doing any CAD/video editing/photo editing/gaming? List which programs/games you desire to run.
Unity, Blender, Photoshop/GIMP, low/mid range gaming
    • If you're gaming, do you have certain games you want to play? At what settings and FPS do you want?
Hollow Knight, Minecraft, CS:GO medium ~60fps
    • Any specific requirements such as good keyboard, reliable build quality, touch-screen, finger-print reader, optical drive or good input devices (keyboard/touchpad)?

    Gaming Laptop needed

    Posted: 30 Jun 2021 11:57 PM PDT

So yesterday I asked for suggestions for gaming laptop upto 1000$(70000 INR)

Really I'm hoping the price upto 900$(60000 INR) during sales on Amazon or Flipkart during festivals around November

I got suggestions as Lenovo legion 5i 15 and Lenovo legion 5 15. But I think they won't come down.

I searched myself a bit and found HP Pavilion ryzen 7 and Asus TUF ryzen 7 their specs are mostly same.

I think their price will come down

I want to play and record games

    I would like more suggestions
