An extremely tech-stupid couple needs help! Internal and external hard drive issues??

An extremely tech-stupid couple needs help! Internal and external hard drive issues??

Any help at all is greatly appreciated!! Thanks in advance!

My boyfriend bought a **** desktop about a year ago with the intention of it being our gaming computer. And so far it's been flawless, no issues whatsoever. We also bought a small external hard drive around the same time, just to ensure that we would have enough space for his games, as well as my few games that I download on there as well.

So as of recent, my boyfriend got a new game and went to download and it said (memory full/storage full..) and on top of that my Sims 4 *which was ALREADY downloaded and installed** started telling me (Memory/Storage full).

So to two techtards who don't know shit about computers, I start uninstalling my Sims 3&4 so that at least my bf can download his games since the desktop was really meant for him to play... My bf uninstalled over a dozen of his little cheap games that he didn't care about, and then finally we freed enough space to install what he wanted to install.

But..what's the real issue here?? NONE of the external hard drive storage had been used and EVEN on the internal hard drive at the time of the issue, there truly should have been plenty of storage space to install the game in the first place, regardless of extra external hard drive.

**Inserted CURRENT computer status info just in case you techy's need to see the info? ...What's up with the external hard drive? Is it working? Does the computer know to use the extra external storage? Is there a real issue with our computer desktop? Or are we just stupider than I thought we were?

Thanks so much for any insight you can give! <3

    Hardware Advice

Hi guys, I am def not a tech guy. I am a 3D artist but unfortunately, my skills to build a machine are null. I was wondering if you guys could help me / advise me on how to improve my hardware setting for the machine I am actually using at the moment. Usually I am using After effects, C4D with Redshift and Otoy and Xparticles. I would like also to get into Unreal Engine. I don't have an specific budget but i can spend money on this as it is my main tool of work. Thanks a lot in advance guys!
