When I'm typing out individual keys and I'm trying to hit the space bar, around 10% of the time it'll think I meant the home button. It gets really annoying and I don't think I've ever had this issue on any other phone I've owned (8pro is my first OP). With swype it doesn't seem to like swyping short words like "you" or "me". It thinks I'm trying to just type the first letter and that's it. Is there a way to change that? Do I need to re-calibrate the touch screen somehow? Or is this just a oneplus problem? Posted: 03 Jun 2021 11:12 AM PDT I just thought about buying a OnePlus smartwatch to replace my Huawei Watch GT because it lacks certain functionalities. Namely apps and customizations. When I saw some images on the OnePlus watch' menu, apps and watchfaces they basically looks just the same. You scroll down from both and get the exact same quick tab menu on both, the app screen has the same scrolling animation and even the watchfaces dialog looks very similar and have the exact same limitations, namely apps, customizations and the missing double tap to wake. Also the "OnePlus Health" app looks awfully similar to the Huawei "Health" app. Same number of tiles in the Health tab with the same information. Then the Fitness tab which is called "Training" on Huawei has the same functions with just a little design difference. I can't confirm this as OnePlus is not mentioning anything about their software on the Product page but I guess it is just a fork of either LiteOS (https://github.com/LiteOS/LiteOS) or the "better" version HarmonyOS which relies on LiteOS. So I guess when it actually is the same there should be apps and stuff coming as Huawei just released their own SDK for it. I mean using that OS is a nice choice for battery life I guess but really just using a 1:0.99 version of their software and not even mentioning that is a bit cheap.. The display is amazing, performance is smooth, and battery life is above average. Camera is solid so far, though I have issues with it crushing details in the shadows and excessive amounts of noise in dark areas. Posted: 03 Jun 2021 07:16 PM PDT I'll be in the market for a new phone in a couple of months and I'm looking at the 9 but for Im seeing that the CN version on eBay "brand new" (I'm assuming it's new or else I'm sure the seller wouldn't be on eBay anymore) with 256GB 12GB of RAM is cheaper than buying a brand new 9 128GB 8GB from Oneplus' site. According to the listings the CN version supports almost all the 4G bands for T-Mobile and one 5G suggesting that it would work on the network. Why is it so much cheaper? [link] [comments]  |
| Oneplus 5T - Over 3 plus years and still going strong Posted: 03 Jun 2021 08:24 AM PDT Isn't the Oneplus 5T one of the best phones ever made? I upgraded from a Moto G5 back in January 2018 and I have used it extensively. I've used it for work, for my commutes, for tethering internet to my computer, for watching videos, for social media and probably a few other things. Since, I've got this phone, I have realized that my time spent on my computer has drastically reduced and I'm using my phone to do a lot of stuff which I would have otherwise used a computer to do so (think amazon shopping, hotel and flight bookings). I installed Accubattery today and it's showing the battery health to be 82%. I probably would have charged my phone an average of 1.5 times everyday for over a 1000 days now. That is around 1500 charge cycles and I'm still getting a SOT of over 5-6 hours. I'm really amazed! I've watched reviews of so many phones online and never felt it was worth ditching this phone for something else. The only drawback that I'm currently facing is the absence of software and security upgrades. I did install the Lineage OS 18.1 a few days back but it's not how the stock ROM used to be. There still are a few bugs, particularly related to calling and data. Nevertheless, this is the best phone I have ever owned and a great value too compared to the overpriced smartphones in the market today. Just wanted to get this off in the public domain. I'm now booting every time I try to start the phone into the recovery. Boot reason shown is "init_user0_failed" Has anyone else this problem or did I do something wrong? I have no way to back up my data on the phone, I don't have enough storage on my PC to do it, and the oneplus switch app said I need to get rid of 11 gb of data (which again I cannot do so) I have 100gb google drive storage which I just now bought for 2 quid, as I thought the backup option in the settings app would have just sent it to the drive, but it has only backed up essentially nothing? a few device settings and some call history... why? How can I back the full phone data up before tomorrow? pictures, videos, etc, I have colournotes i need too. There is no option for a backup in the oneplus switch app at all. I cannot use the switch app when I get the new phone as the advisor said that the courier will be dropping off and taking my old 6t with them on the spot. So I can't have the courier wait for the transfer apparently, or even send the phone off myself. What options do I have for backup? i really don't want to lose all the stuff on my phone. I'm no stranger to rooting, but most of my experience is with Sammy's devices. I migrated to OnePlus because Sammy won't unlock the bootloader any longer, and that's a deal breaker for me. That said, I'm at a loss here. I know I need to patch the boot image via Magisk, but since I'm using a T-mo variant (BE2028), finding a stock image is impossible in the wild. Can I use the standard North America image as a fallback to patch, or am I just boned for rooting this device? I've dabbled in trying to unpack the .ops from the recent ota, but Python and I aren't great friends, and I'm having no luck at all unpacking the file. Mods, sorry if this isn't a cool topic. Downgrading to 10 doesn't work either, I've downloaded the downgrade package, put it in root, removed the .jar extension and when I try to downgrade, it gives me 'system update installation failed'. After the update, I'm feeling a bit laggy while using it. The cameras are not improved at all. The notification panel shadow is there, the haptics is less responsive now.  While using the blue tooth earbuds ( edifier x3), I see some trouble though it connects perfectly but sound low sometimes and sometimes it's louder. This is my 2nd OP phone, Oneplus 6 was good but Oneplus cheated with us and stopped giving us regular updates.
