After years of waiting. I finally built my own new PC Posted: 28 Apr 2021 03:09 AM PDT After years of waiting for this moment, I finally built my own PC and it was an awesome (and a terrifying xd) experience. Thank you all for the help. I learned so much from you guys (r/buildapc and r/pcmasterrace) and by watching many YouTube videos lol. and was able to build it without messing up. I'll link photos of the build below. https://imgur.com/gallery/2iO8pc0 The set up is complete now https://imgur.com/gallery/cBoBSpS Full specs and prices on the comments Edit: Thank you all for the kind words and awards, i really don't know what to say. such an awesome community. Posted: 28 Apr 2021 08:31 AM PDT So once upon a time a friend of mine to whom I sold my old RX590 for 100$ in these trying times.. repaid the favour by telling me about the situation in the crypto-mining space.. People are legitimately trading better, newer cards for 5700XTs since the 5700XT mines faster and more efficiently.. I was skeptic at first but I hit one of the people up and he immediately told me the whole story about why he wants to trade and why's my card better for mining and stuff.. So we made a deal, I went across half of Czechia and my dude pulls up with a car, opens the trunk and it's goddamn full of 6700XTs and 3060Tis.. Like at least 20 boxes.. And he just goes "Well pick which one you want" so I grabbed a Sapphire Pulse 6700XT and handed him my 5700XT, he gave me the purchase contract with 2 years of warranty left and I went home with my free upgrade.. Which works like a charm btw. tl;dr: check online marketplaces in your areas if you have a 5700XT, they're wanted hard right now and can be traded for better cards with no add. payments. Posted: 28 Apr 2021 09:48 AM PDT I took me a year of getting these rare, expensive and amazing parts. I spent hours and hour researching, comparing and deciding. Now I finally put together my dream build and it runs amazing! It is everything i thought it would be and more. From the aesthetics to the performance "sweet spot", i was able to hit all my marks. I should be happy now and just play games/edit videos and do whatever I want with my new build. But for some reason I just feel empty now. I overclocked my GPU, CPU and Ram. I edited my fan curves to get the perfect cooling with the least acoustics. I wish there was still more to do im terms of building but there really isn't. Is there something wrong with me or am I too caught up in the process? Does anyone else enjoy the process so much that it eclipses playing actual games? My build: CPU: AMD Ryzen 9 5900x GPU: Nvidia GeForce RTX 3090 FE Motherboard: Asus X570 Dark Hero Memory: 4 x 16GB Trident Z Royal Gold 3600Mhz CL16 Storage: 2x 2TB Samsung 980 Pro M.2 NVMe SSD PSU: 850W Seasonic Focus 80 Plus Gold Cooler: Kraken Z73 360mm AIO Case: Corsair 5000D Airflow Black Fans: 10x Coolermaster Master Fan MF 120 Prismatic [link] [comments] |
My new PC build is making me ill and can't figure out why :( Posted: 28 Apr 2021 02:37 AM PDT Hi guys, As a gamer and video editor I decided to take the plunge and build my own PC. I got a 3080, 3900x etc and the performance is unbelievable. But every time I use it for 2 or more hours I am ill the next day. I feel dizzy, a headache/migraine, difficulty concentrating, tiredness and fatigue. It seems to be much worse if I game intensively. The best way of describing it is like I've just eaten 20 dominos pizzas and 4 bottles of Dr Pepper. I thought it must be my new monitor, so I played around with the contrast and brightness but nothing improved it. So I bought a new monitor with anti-blue light features but that hasn't helped either. I would think it is screens in general but I'm fine if I just sit and work on my macbook all day. Maybe the fans are making an ultra high-pitched noise? (I don't know I'm getting crazy with suggestions now). Has anyone ever had this issue? The fact working on my macbook is fine doesn't make me think I just need my eyes tested. [link] [comments] |
Is the Ryzen 5 2600, the GTX 1660, and 16 gigabytes of RAM good enough for 1080p 60fps streaming? Posted: 27 Apr 2021 05:19 PM PDT Could these specs work for 1080p 30fps streaming? If not, what should I upgrade to? This will be my first build, and my budget is a bit tight. [link] [comments] |
Best monitors at a 300 dollar budget? Posted: 28 Apr 2021 03:03 PM PDT I'm doing some research of my own but i'm not as skilled at this as i'm sure most people in this sub are. i'm gonna upgrade my monitor, budget is about 300 bucks (but can be a little flexible) thanks for any help! Will 750w PSU be sufficient to power 3090 + 5900x ? Posted: 28 Apr 2021 04:10 PM PDT Pc part picker says it's power will be 576w for my entire system (fans, LED's, everything). So I think I'm ok? I was watching linus review of the 3090 (https://youtu.be/YjcxrfEVhc8) and at 4:49 in, he mentions that his test bench with 850w psu wasn't enough during stress testing? He said the 3080 FE would routinely break 375w (it's spec is 350w). Even if my 3090 were to go 25w over spec, it would still leave me with 100w of headroom? Also, linus test bench was an OCd 10900k.i believe that uses more power than 5900x. Just has me a little concerned. I managed to land a 3090 and already have corsair SF750 psu. [link] [comments] |
RAM problem: 2 sticks or 4? And why? Posted: 28 Apr 2021 06:42 AM PDT Had an argument before and I'm kinda out of ideas. Should one install only 2 sticks of RAM or 4 at all times and why? Is there only half the bandwidth available when using 2 sticks? Does it even matter if the load is shared between 2 or 4 sticks? [link] [comments] |
Is it better to blow, or to suck from keyboards? Posted: 28 Apr 2021 03:17 PM PDT So basically I've been placed in charge of cleaning the office PCs and peripherals this weekend, when we do a spring cleaning event. Some of these keyboards haven't been touched in ages (eg. at desks where the employee retired/left), and of course, the ones in use will have sediment between keys as well. Rather than hop from desk to desk with armfuls of compressed air cans, I was thinking about taking the keyboards out back and blowing them all out with an air hose and a little 3gal pancake compressor. Last thing I want to do is replace 20 keyboards ranging from $10 to $100 each, so I need a second opinion on the cleaning before I accidentally break something! [link] [comments] |
Front panel connector missing? Posted: 28 Apr 2021 03:06 PM PDT I just bought an ASUS B550F motherboard to go in a NZXT H510I, I connected everything to the motherboard except I'm a bit confused on one part. In the case it came with one connector labeled HD Audio and one called F panel. I read the Manuel's and it wasn't obvious where to put those on the motherboard to me so I just looked at the pins and took a guess by putting the HD audio one on the slot labeled AAFP and the F_Panel one on the part in section on the bottom right where the pins would fit on the HDD, LED, Reset pins but to the right there are more front panel pins that I don't have any connector for and it's labeled PWR, LED. I'm waiting on my PSU to get delivered today before I can't test it but I feel like that's wrong and I'm missing something? Any ideas? My previous build I had multiple + - for the led and audio stuff but not this time. Edit- I found a breakout cable they provide that had + - tucked under the box so I plugged that into the f panel connector and then had smaller connectors for HDD, PWR SW, and led +- so I guess that solves that. I'll add a solution if it all works for anyone else that sees this. [link] [comments] |
What should I put under my PC? Posted: 28 Apr 2021 12:05 PM PDT Hi everyone, I just built a new PC [except for a new graphics card >:( ]. And my new build includes an RGB power supply. This power supply aims down so that the fan blows air out of the computer, makes sense. I'm wondering what should I put my PC on so that it can possibly show the colors from the power supply. I usually keep my PC on the ground under my desk. But I like to put in ontop of something just in case of minor flooding or something. I apologize if what im asking isn't clear, not sure exactly how to word it. Hopefully I got my question across, feel free to ask for more explanation if you need. Thanks for your help / suggestions :) [link] [comments] |
Posted: 28 Apr 2021 11:54 AM PDT Me and my friend are building our first PC and we now have to screw in the motherboard. But when we looked for the screws it seemed that it did not come with the case. Any ideas? [link] [comments] |
[RANT] I give up. I'll just wait for the 4XXX series cards. Maybe next year will be better. Posted: 28 Apr 2021 04:44 PM PDT So, I have literally been trying to buy a 3080 Founder's Edition since November. I'm sure it's a combination of Best Buy's janky website, my crappy location (I'm in a flyover state), and plain old bad luck, but I can't keep doing this. I've set up 8 different stock drop bots on my discord, and I set up fairgame on my computer to try to buy ANY 3080 from amazon, so I could trade it + cash for an FE. I've been waking up in the middle of the night when stock drops on amazon to try an snag a card. I don't know what else I could possibly do at this point to turn my luck around, so I'm just going to take the hint and walk away. Summer's coming up, so at least I'll be able to go do stuff outside since I won't be able to game since my 2070 died. I just can't bring myself to pay scalper prices when that money could be better spent on my wife and son. $1800 over MSRP is just insane to me. Anyone else just going to wait for the next gen rather than letting the bots kick you while you're down? [link] [comments] |
Building my first gaming pc! any tips? Posted: 28 Apr 2021 04:42 PM PDT About to put together a build! The heart of the build is the ROG STRIX B450-F Gaming II. This motherboard is great since they're compatible with the 5000 series CPU's with a BIOS update. Great if I decide to upgrade when there's more stock on those CPU's.. and this motherboard is great for a budget build with no compromise on performance. Here are my specs Motherboard - ROG STRIX B450-F Gaming II VGA - TUF-RTX3060TI-O8G-GAMING CPU - AMD Ryzen 3900X Case - Lianli Case Memory - DELTA RGB 3200 8GBx2 SSD - Seagate Firecuda 510 1TB PSU - ROG-STRIX-650G AIO - ROG STRIX LC 360 PC Part Picker List https://pcpartpicker.com/list/q3DjMv Is there anything else I should take a look at or consider before putting it all together? Best mid range CPU for gaming regardless of stock? Posted: 28 Apr 2021 04:41 PM PDT Currently I have a GTX 1070 and an i5 6600k. I was trying to get a GPU first (3060 ti or 3070) but that's obviously not going too well lol. So for now I want to upgrade my CPU because its bottlenecking some games. What's the best bang for the buck mid range CPU when factoring in a budget MB as well? [link] [comments] |

What M.2 drive works with my MOBO? Posted: 28 Apr 2021 04:32 PM PDT I'm looking to add a M.2 drive to my build but I'm not sure which ones are compatible with my B450 Tomahawk max. I know I'm looking for at least 1tb but I've been looking and there are a lot of factors that I don't know about. Such as form factor, interface, and NVME. Any info helps. [link] [comments] |
Posted: 28 Apr 2021 04:31 PM PDT Hi All, I'm new to gaming and would love to build a custom PC but with the part shortage, I might just look to buy a pre-built for now. Are there any recommendations on a pre-built that's upgradable in the future? My budget is around $1,300 Thanks! [link] [comments] |
Do I remove the yellow tape on the pins on a WiFi card I just got? Posted: 28 Apr 2021 04:31 PM PDT I just bought a WiFi card specifically the Intel AX210 and there is some kind of tape on the cards pins and I was wondering if I remove it. The manual doesn't mention it at all so I am wondering what to do. [link] [comments] |

New AMD build keeps BSODing, need some help Posted: 28 Apr 2021 04:30 PM PDT I recently built it and I started getting BSODs after 2 days, I wiped the ssd and installed fresh windows onto it, got it working perfectly for a week and the BSODs came back. I have been using the XMP profile making my ram run at advertised speeds. I also ran memtest and the test completed successfully without finding any errors with the ram. CPU: R7 3700x Mobo: Gigabyte B550 Aorus Elite rev 1 Ram: Crucial Ballistix 16gb ddr4 3600 c16 (BL2K8G36C16U4W) GPU: Nvidia GTX 670 Storage: samsung ssd 580 evo Some stop codes I'm getting are
I've tried resetting windows, running all of the cmd commands I could find (sfc, chkdsk, etc.) I've checked my ram on the Mobo's QVL and It is not there but the same exact model with a black heatsink is there. I might buy a different ram that is specifically listed on the QVL to see if that fixes this problem but if anyone has any experience or tips with this, id love to try it out before I go out and buy more ram. Also, I checked the dump files from windows and most of the time the issue was caused by "ntoskrnl.exe" Thanks for any help! [link] [comments] |
Best Liquid Cooler for my rig - MasterLiquid ML280 Mirror or Arctic Freezer II 280? (10700k) Posted: 28 Apr 2021 04:25 PM PDT I'm looking to upgrade from a Hyper 212 air cooler to liquid cooling for my rig, and was wondering if there would be a noticeable difference in temps between the two mentioned coolers for my 10700k build that I'm looking to overclock. The reason I'm considering the MasterLiquid despite its high MSRP is that it comes out to a solid $75 after coupons and rebates on Newegg at the moment, but I've heard such good things about the Arctic Freezer that it might be worth the $40 premium. But I'm kinda torn, so that's why I'm here. Thanks! [link] [comments] |
