Google Play Store Issues [Clear Cache / Storage Fails] Posted: 28 Apr 2021 03:22 PM PDT Hello there. Now it often stays stuck on pending when installing things, or even as simple as opening up my current set of apps to see if there's any updates available. [link] [comments] |
Worth replacing screen on Galaxy S8? Posted: 28 Apr 2021 07:29 PM PDT My S8 is ~2 years old and after two consecutive hard falls, the screen is cracked and only functions properly 20% of the time. Is it worth spending over $200 to replace the screen on an aging phone that was starting to lag and lose battery life or am I better off getting a brand new low-end phone? I'm on a tight budget. Sticking w/ Verizon because I am part of a family plan. I don't need 5G or fancy biometrics, nor do I need to run multiple intensive apps at once. I just want something that is going to have reliable connectivity and battery life for a few years if I treat it well. What would y'all suggest? [link] [comments] |
Is Umidigi and Xiaomi phones any good? Posted: 28 Apr 2021 05:55 PM PDT I am currently struggling with pricing and for a while Umidigi has caught my eye, and I've seen Xiaomi around. What is interesting is, these two brands seem to be the predictor of most future Samsung designs and colors. Umidigi always kind of looks attractive in specs and price. I live in the United States of America, by the way. However currently I am looking for longevity, security and stability. Would it be wiser to wait for a 5G phone from Umidigi? [link] [comments] |
Is there any ADB command to keep the Accessibility Service permanently on? Posted: 28 Apr 2021 07:55 PM PDT I'm using Oppo Android 8.1 Oreo and the accessibility services always get disabled or kept turning off. I have tried all the other options such as configuring the battery optimization, app overlays, notifications, permissions, etc... As for app tools such as Tasker, tried but didn't work. I'm thinking now if there's anything I could do using ADB. Any help would be appreciated [link] [comments] |
3rd party launcher access to system API Posted: 28 Apr 2021 07:50 PM PDT so google kind of ruined 3rd launchers after android 9 by making the gestures and certain animations apart of the stock launcher instead of the system. This results in clunky/ gittery animations and gestures. Does anyone know why google did this? [link] [comments] |
Paid apps has the account info in it from it was purchased Posted: 28 Apr 2021 08:03 PM PDT Does a paid apps License check against whatever account is present on the device and if same app is bought from the account it works, or it works for only that particular account from which it was bought. Will Dex work with an S8 that has a broken screen? Posted: 28 Apr 2021 07:06 PM PDT I currently have an S8+ whichs screen is dead (no touch nor image). Getting it a new screen is too cost prohibitive, so I was thinking about getting a Dex dock and using it that way. The problem is I remember having read that Dex wasn't just plug n play, you either had to accept it (can't without a screen) and/or any system prompt had to be dealt with in the phone itself. I'd like to know if Dex is proper for using the phone without a screen. Thanks in advance. [link] [comments] |
How to stop android navigation bar from overriding youTube (Fullscreen) Guestures? Posted: 28 Apr 2021 06:15 PM PDT I have a problem on a tablet I own. The Android (10) navigation bar seems to be overriding YouTube Fullscreen gestures. For easier explanation, please see the difference between other Android devices and the tablet (it's a Lenovo M10 FHD Plus). I also noticed that the bottom scroll playlist doesn't pop up at all when you pause the video on the Lenovo M10, but it does pop up on other devices (like only 10% of it though, but enough to let you know that you can 'pull it up' if you know what I mean). I know this shouldn't be a huge issue to most people, but these are my dad's devices and he's mentally challenged. He doesn't know how to use the YouTube app otherwise. [link] [comments] |
LG Moto G6 cannot make calls or texts. Posted: 28 Apr 2021 06:11 PM PDT After having the titular phone softlock temporaily and rebooting it, I found that I couldn't make calls, texts, or use mobile data. All other functions of the phone are fine, so I'd rather not replace it if it's a single issue that can be resolved. To add to the issues, I tried transplanting the SIM card to make sure it wasn't the problem, but ended up fumbling it and losing the card to the void. Any other advice on how to fix the issue is to simply update the device's firmware, which on top of being up-to-date already, is from a company that threw in the towel not too long ago. I have bought a replacement SIM card and would appreciate any help saving myself a redundant phone purchase. [link] [comments] |
Are there any budget phones that have the x60 modem? Posted: 28 Apr 2021 06:04 PM PDT So the x60 is supposed to be better at agregating 5g and 4glte together for improved speeds. At least this is my understanding for example in a side by side the pixel 4a 5g and the s21 ultra. The pixel gets 15mbs down while s21 gets 95 down. Both get about 1mb up. This was done in a house that blocks signal really well for some reason. Ive been doing these test over the course of a few months and its always the same. So, thats why im asking for other x60 modem phones. If im wrong on something please do enlighten me. Ps, mods if im in the wrong sub for this question please pm me the correct sub. I have no idea where else to ask this. [link] [comments] |
I have a Samsung a10 and there's no sound when I answer a phone call.. Posted: 28 Apr 2021 09:45 PM PDT Speaker phone is the only way to make/receive calls.. is my phone taking a dive? Or can it be fixed? [link] [comments] |
What does the little grey/gray dot at the top right hand corner of an app icon mean? Posted: 28 Apr 2021 05:44 PM PDT What does the little grey/gray dot at the top right hand corner of an app icon mean? It hasn't been updated, there are no notifications that I'm aware of, it just sits there constantly, a little grey dot! The icon in question is KDE Connect Thanks [link] [comments] |
Posted: 28 Apr 2021 09:13 PM PDT Anybody else having issues with Google Assistant not playing a song you specified? The same happens on Spotify as well. It confirms that it located the specific song you requested, then for whatever reason, plays a completely different song by the same artiste. Please help. [link] [comments] |
"Please verify your internet access"? Posted: 28 Apr 2021 05:26 PM PDT This message keeps appearing at the bottom of my S10e's screen and it just won't go away. It reappears shortly after rebooting and it overlays every single app, often blocking buttons or text (it's actually blocking part of this message as I type it, which is incredibly annoying.) My internet access is fine, and I don't know how to make it stop. It started relatively recently. Any ideas? [link] [comments] |
Posted: 28 Apr 2021 04:59 PM PDT Backup & Restore apps like "Android Assistant", Super Backup, Backup & Restore etc. " helped me previously to back up my Installed Apps by extracting the .apk files and after factory reset, I can easily install them. But for last 2 years, in android 9, 10 & 11, SOME of those .apk files are not installing. Package installer says "app not installed". Its not like I used unsupported apps or installed them in another android version, i just used backup .apk. And its happening to some of those .apk, not to all. Any help is appreciated. Music Files stutter at specific parts of songs Posted: 28 Apr 2021 04:44 PM PDT I have a samsung a50 that was recently updated to Android 11 and when i listen to music from 2 specific albums, they stutter at specific parts of each song on the 2 albums. They are the most recent albums ive downloaded and this wasn' t happening before i installed Android 11 on my Samsung A50. I did everything, i cleared google play, samsung music and bluetooth cache, unoptimized these apps, reset my phone, remove and pair my headphones again, uninstalled and redownloaded the music files and downloaded different files of the music but still in .m4a. I'm using Samsung Music as my music player and i looked around in the sound settings and even went inside my Headphones application and prioritized connection over quality. I tried to listen to the .m4a files of the music on Youtube Music and it has the same problem at the exact same parts of the songs but when i listen to them on my pc its fine. I'm on version A505WVLUBDUC6 if it helps. Anything to help me figure out this problem is appreciated it is so irritating listening to my music files [link] [comments] |

Posted: 28 Apr 2021 04:15 PM PDT As an Asian-American, I am contemplating the likely scenario where I have hastily snapped some photos or taken a video for evidence and my phone is immediately destroyed. How can I give those photos/videos the best chance of being uploaded to the cloud instantaneously? As a contrasting example, Google Photos syncs at a very leisurely pace. [link] [comments] |
Posted: 28 Apr 2021 04:07 PM PDT I highly doubt that my Device ID and other identifiers are giving it away. I use strict firewall rules, so no app calls home unless I want it to. How do I change my device ID to reflect to another country while I am physically located in another? Vitual Private Network work online only. [link] [comments] |
Why don't push notifications work for deep-sleeping apps? Posted: 28 Apr 2021 12:08 PM PDT I've always noticed how, with iPhones, apps will never fail to send notifications, even when said apps are almost never used. Yet, on Android, some apps send notifications reliably, even when I open them as rarely as once every two weeks, while other apps literally only send notifications when the app is open and running in the foreground. In One UI, I prefer to have all of my gaming and music apps in the never sleeping apps list, no apps in the always sleeping apps list, and everything else in the regular sleeping apps list. The regular sleeping apps list allows apps to wake up periodically to do what they need to do, syncing stuff, so on and so forth. I find it to be the best balance of battery life and reliable background syncing, so it's not something I want to change. However, I notice that some apps will send me notifications the instant there's a notification to show me, and no apps I use ever send me notifications only in like these seemingly scheduled batches, so clearly sleeping apps should be able to send notifications (perhaps through Google Play Services?) How do I switch back to stable from the open beta on my oneplus 7T? Posted: 28 Apr 2021 01:22 PM PDT Title. Switched to beta a while back but really there's no features I want in there. Recently my battery life's been terrible (Open Beta) so I'm wiping the phone. I reckon I might as well switch back to stable. Does anyone know of a detailed guided to switch back? All I've found online is people saying "you will have to wipe your phone to go back to stable" which I did know going in, but no more detailed explanations on how to actually do it. Would anyone have a link to a detailed thread / a discord / explain it here? ^^ thanks [link] [comments] |
How to disable immediately switching to bluetooth speakers? Posted: 28 Apr 2021 10:55 AM PDT I have bluetooth speakers (using a logitech receiver) and a bluetooth headset. I usually leave the speakers' receiver plugged in all the time for convenience. However, if I'm using the headset away from the house and then come back, my phone reconnects with the speakers and android automatically switches media output to the speakers, which pauses I was listening to. Is there a way to have android connect without switching media output, or not connect until I tell it to? My phone is already rooted so if a solution requires root access that's fine. Edit: if the problem is the receiver (I don't know quite enough about bluetooth to tell), does anyone know a good receiver that doesn't have this issue? [link] [comments] |
