Xdrop: Airdrop but better (Free for the first 100K users) [DEV] Posted: 02 Mar 2021 08:48 AM PST Hey guys, we have been working for months on this app. It's called Xdrop and its a cross-platform file transferring app. The app is something similar to airdrop but works on multiple platforms (Android-iOS-Win-Mac) in order to make them work together like an ecosystem. and... we'll be giving it out for free for a few months to the first 100K people who download the app and use the 'Send to PC' Feature. Just download the app from the link below. Be a part of our awesome community : Twitter : Twitter [link] [comments] |
Posted: 02 Mar 2021 06:24 AM PST Hi, I lived in China and had a Samsung phone. The Samsung Pay app had the ability to copy via NFC my Key Fobs or access cards, and then I could use my phone to access my apartment building and office. Samsung Pay in the UK doesn't appear to have this option. Is there another app that does the same? It was a really useful function. Especially as was in Samsung Pay, I could just swipe up from anywhere and get inside easily. [link] [comments] |
From building an end-to-end encrypted chat to a generic decentralized open-source database Posted: 01 Mar 2021 01:47 PM PST After a long studying period and developing side projects, I want to share with you my experience with an open-source project that will inspire developers to build decentralized applications ensuring data security which in my opinion is a critical challenge. Back in 2013, I was a second-year engineering student and I came to my computer science teacher Thomas to develop a chatting application for scheduling appointments (It's surprisingly a very common idea from young developers). The idea was to get all your contacts synchronized in a common calendar so that you could perceive your time considering social opportunities. We drafted the first blueprint and very soon came the question of privacy. We desired to have the highest level of privacy. It was end-to-end encryption with the possibility to subscribe to your server (just like the email system) while using your app with your contacts. The move was to ensure users keep full ownership of their data and metadata. So we decided to develop our database system. Yes, that's a crazy decision. From there, we did many iterations alongside our studies to find the practical approach to realize this database. With absolute determination, we finally got a stable version that is in prod with our app Twelve that you can download. There we are, from a technical perspective the application is really elegant. Everything is coded natively with our local-first database, bridging the gap between the easiness of implementation of a document database such as NoSQL, and the simplicity of immutable databases such as blockchains. It results in an app being decentralized, working offline-first, with end-to-end encryption, with collaboration enabled (the chats are synchronized like a shared file, e.g. google doc), without asking for login information. All of this with a very small codebase as the app weights 4.3M (e.g. facebook's messenger lite weights 25MB). But it's not only about chatting, the database is generic and excels at synchronization. What you can build with goes from fully end-to-end secured application for handling sensitive data, to digital certification as it relies on immutable data, and finally to scalable collaborative applications such as your preferred online text editor. Now you can join the story, we made our local-first database called Condensation as an open-source project and are willing to support its development. Dig deeper and make your own opinion. Now we are in the process of packaging it and finishing the documentation. We want to translate Condensation on the main platforms, pioneer community members started the javascript and typescript versions. So I welcome you to share your opinion about the project and to propose your contribution to make it a success. Stay tuned, we are at the very beginning and many explanations will be published over the next weeks. Thanks a lot for your time, you are crazy if you read everything. [link] [comments] |

Location Spoofing with Movement Posted: 02 Mar 2021 12:20 PM PST This might seem a bit confusing, so I will try to include only the major details. A third party app on my phone will be tracking my movement for a job. However, I can and have, done this job extremely well, and efficiently from my home for the last year. Other than GPS, there is no way they can tell whether the work is done from home or on site. I am looking to make it appear as if I am going to these sites when I am actually doing the work from home. I am aware of location spoofing apps. However, I need it to look like I am driving from one site to another. Not just appearing at one, then spoofing to the second, then the third and so on. Is there anything out there like this? I tried searching good old google but came up with a ton of shitty blogs on location spoofing only. [link] [comments] |

Good replacement for Wifi File Transfer program? Posted: 02 Mar 2021 12:15 PM PST Hi all. I always used to use this program simply called "Wifi File Transfer" to move files from my phone, to my computer. But as of a few months ago, this little program just can't find the pictures anymore. Maybe it's due to some android update, who knows. But it's become a royal pain to find the pics in the phone, once you input the IP address of the phone into Firefox. So you start up Wifi File Transfer on Android, then you input the little IP address it gives you, into the address bar in Firefox. This takes you to the little web page where you can just download all your pics straight to your computer. Only now, it shows nothing to be inside the "Camera" folder or the "DCIM" or anything else. It just can't see any pics anymore. So I'm looking for a replacement that operates the same way. Something that lets you see all the pics on your phone, from your computer screen. And lets you use that interface to download them from the phone, to your computer. Can anyone recommend a good program for android that does this? I don't know how to do it any other way. Posted: 02 Mar 2021 11:59 AM PST For multiples reasons, I uses SwiftKey as main keyboard on my phone, but I find that it lacks of "Modern themes" and since I'm not really good at building my own themes, I did some search and found no good sources for themes, only outdated ones, what do you think? Vertical scrolling launcher or widget page? Posted: 02 Mar 2021 05:43 AM PST Please help me! I'm going insane trying to find something that will work for what I want. - Is there any launcher or add on app that I can have a vertical scrolling homepage or screen for my widgets? Microsoft Launcher is close (the "yourfeed" page) you can add apps you want but, you can't put them next to each other on the same line. - A similar idea would be something like an "add-on" app drawer but instead of apps, I can add widgets however I want and then just add a gesture to open it. Any ideas or suggestions would be great. Thanks so much! [link] [comments] |

Posted: 02 Mar 2021 10:02 AM PST For school, I want to use a seperate discord account from my private account as to not mix things up too much. I found that for a these purposes, you can use the Shelter app to create a seperate instance of discord, which is preferable since switching accounts in the app is a pain. The app does however have a very clear warning that using the app on OS' that have a non-standard implementation of work spaces, it can have negative consequences. Does anyone have experience running Shelter on EMUI (8.0, or other version)? [link] [comments] |

App to prevent certain bluetooth devices from automatically connecting? Posted: 01 Mar 2021 10:19 PM PST I'm looking for an app that prevents chosen bluetooth devices from automatically connecting when in range. Example, my phone will automatically connect to my car's bluetooth but if my fiance's car is on as well, my phone will connect to hers and disconnect from my car. I'd like to still have her car listed under my bluetooth device but not activate unless I choose it. Thank you for any help! [link] [comments] |
Posted: 02 Mar 2021 12:59 AM PST I don't like to have to set sources because it still finds things I'm not interested or gives me too much of the same stuff. I can never set it correctly for the articles I'm interested in. However, google knows me well. And it does a damn good job at showing me article that I actually want to read. Is there a nice app that scapes those articles for an easier viewing experience other than opening the new tab and scrolling endlessly? [link] [comments] |
