| (PSA) If half your apps are suddenly crashing repeatedly, disable Google Chrome Posted: 22 Mar 2021 05:03 PM PDT Like you, I freaked out when well over half my apps started crashing on startup, and my first thought was this sub (after checking for malicious apps and restarting twice, of course). The common solution seems to be disabling, uninstalling, or removing updates for "Android System WebView," but my phone (Galaxy S9, Android 8) doesn't show this in Play Store or Settings, and you can't uninstall an app/system feature that you seemingly don't have (or is hidden). Lots of people are reporting that their older phones/Android versions don't have WebView as well. Just one person in a crossposted thread suggested disabling Chrome. Out of options, I tried it, and sure enough all of my apps are suddenly working again. I can't uninstall it without root, but I could uninstall the updates, that was unnecessary for me but if simply disabling doesn't work for you, that's worth a shot. | Posted: 22 Mar 2021 02:32 PM PDT Phone randomly started having some apps crash as soon as they launch. Tried restarting and got the same issue. Phone is razer phone 1. List of apps that crash: Google app (not chrome, the Google search app) BBC iPlayer - crashes even when it isn't open Gmail app Airline manager 4 (but strangely not airline manager 3) An app or system called "Three net___" only appeared for a second so couldn't get the full name but seen as my phone has the 3 bootloader, I'm assuming this is the cause of the problem. Suddenly, in the blink of an eye, the Google app (search bar) started crashing every time I try to use it. I just used it several times a couple of minutes ago. I get a Facebook notification, check it, close Facebook, try to continue my search and suddenly it's starting crashing continously. It got so bad that my phone suggested I put it in deep sleep because of the crashes. I've tried restarting the phone, wiping the App cache, force stopping it, disabling and enabling it, but nothing works. | Posted: 22 Mar 2021 06:47 PM PDT Hey everyone. I have a Samsung Galaxy S7 (pretty old phone at this point, I know) and up until today it's been fine. For seemingly no reason, the Memo app crashes any time I want to look at a saved memo. The same goes for the default Messages app, and the one I had been using in its place called Textra. Also it happens to facebook Messenger as soon as I open up a conversation. This is really driving me nuts because I have no clue why it's acting up like this. As you can imagine my phone is pretty much useless to me with all these apps constantly malfunctioning. I frequently receive the message "Textra keeps stopping" or "Email keeps stopping" even without opening them (not that they work in the first place). | Multiple apps crashing as soon as I open them Posted: 22 Mar 2021 05:22 PM PDT (don't rly know how to flair this) Started happening recently, so far I've noticed it on the following apps • Zedge (wallpaper/ringtone app) • Pixiv (anime styled art app) • Tiktok (only crashes on the "favorite" section) • Mega On some like Pixiv it opens, loads for a second, then closes itself. Mega and Zedge close pretty much instantly. Tried: clearing cache, force stopping the apps, restarting phone, reinstalling. (Restarting temporarily fixed it but happened again shortly after) I'd like to know the cause and any posible fixes. Thanks in advance, any help is appreciated! Posted: 22 Mar 2021 09:44 PM PDT If someone sends me a text, I can get as far as seeing who sent it and the first few word appear but if I try to open any texts, I get the above message. Should note, I hate this phone. Have since I got it. If my mouth isn't right at the receiver, people can't hear me. It also had a "water in the charging port" issue within weeks of me getting it. It had never been anywhere wet or even humid. Turn the thing off, plug it in and let it slow charg for about 12 hours. That quit after a week but this phone is my arch nemesis. Had a Samsung S5 prior with no issues until the screen went out. Any help would be greatly appreciated and if there's a fix provided, I may give a very small reward. | Most apps crashing on startup - LG V20 on Android 11 Posted: 22 Mar 2021 08:53 PM PDT Just today, most of my apps on my LG V60 has been crashing almost immediately on startup. I've restarted my phone a few times and entered into Safe Mode but nothing is helping. I've also been getting random "App is Not Responding" notifications that appear and disappear very quickly. A few apps I've uninstalled and reinstalled and, for a few of them, it's worked but for not all. I know I'm probably going to have to do a backup and hard reset but I'm wondering if there's any other option that I can try first. I haven't tried a system reset yet but it's in the cards if it will help. I'm just wondering what I can do. This is a nearly brand new phone. [link] [comments]  |
| Posted: 22 Mar 2021 08:50 PM PDT Used ODIN to flash the stock firmware and then hard reset again in recovery mode. But still my brother-in-law's old Samsung note 3 showing abnormal factory reset and need old Samsung account details. He actually forgets it, and now I cannot use this phone in any way at all. Wonder, usually when we flash firmware using ODIN the phone should become a new one with no more old data related to previous OS. Flashing firmware is more powerful than hard reset in recovery mode, but then why I stumble on this issue. Is Samsung more secure than Apple iPhone or this is a dumb bullshit setting that make an entire device useless. I need to use this device as a fresh one and even cannot do that. [link] [comments]  |

She has done a factory reset, it keeps happening. Any ideas on what to do? Edit: It seems like facebook and google apps (like whatsapp, instagram etc) are not crashing. Every other app is tho. Posted: 22 Mar 2021 08:13 PM PDT A friend of mine tried to make some short videos using the instagram reels, but when the video is played the screen goes brrrrrr, in some models screen goes green and in model S20 there were some vertical lines on the screen and then screen went mono colour. Today my apps started randomly crashing in the background, but only a few of them. But if I cleared their data and religion it would work fine, until I exited the app and it would start all over again. Then I relogged into my snapchat and my CAT S60 showed up as a suspicious login as a Doogee s60 in a different city hours from here and a very different time zone. Td bank, whisper, mewe, and a couple others I can't remember off the top of my head all crash and fail in the background and a couple crash when I open them. But the rest work completely fine. | P30 Pro - multiple apps crashing Posted: 22 Mar 2021 03:47 PM PDT Huawei P30 Pro, EE (UK), 8GB RAM, EMUI11 This has started tonight, almost every app I open crashes after a few seconds of being open. I've restarted the phone, used the Optimiser app, and the only way I've found to stabalise the apps is to go into Settings and remove any data attached to the apps and clear the cache. Once I've done this they stay open, it means having to log into everything again but it's working. I've also ran Malwarebytes just in case and it didn't pick anything up.. Does anyone have any ideas what might be causing this please? It's really frustrating. I have the 8GB RAM version so wouldn't have thought memory was an issue. As I'm writing this I've just checked to see if my attempt to fix is working and it isn't. Gmail crashes as soon as I open it. Any help will be massively appreciated. [link] [comments]  |
| An ad for a app download on my phone Posted: 22 Mar 2021 11:46 AM PDT I was playing an app game from the play store on my phone and this ad called newsbreak downloaded onto my phone and I was pressing the cancel button which idk if that was for the notification cause it ended up downloading onto my phone. However this app was already preinstalled onto my phone. So when I checked my virus scan app it says it was updated but in the play store it says it wasn't. Idk what I should do I went ahead and uninstalled the app and I'm scanning my phone now.. I just dont know what else I should be doing? [link] [comments]  |
