Which android phones let you have multiple users? Posted: 21 Jan 2021 02:21 PM PST Apparently samsung disabled the android feature to let you have multiple users. Not sure why but maybe because of their secure folder feature. Id like to find an android phone that lets me use multiple users. Which phone manufacturers haven't disabled this? [link] [comments] |
Posted: 21 Jan 2021 10:44 PM PST Hey ! I didn't get the update, even when I'm trying to search for it and download. It says I have the newest software but a friend of mine with the note 10 got it, Anyone knows why? [link] [comments] |

How beneficial is an adaptive refresh rate? Posted: 21 Jan 2021 05:24 PM PST I'm curious I own a s20 Ultra which of course doesn't have an adaptive refresh rate but rather can only manually go between 30/60/96/120Hz. For Samsung at least since the Note 20 and on their newer device s21 they have an adaptive refresh rate. Though how beneficial is this feature and also what kind of user has the most gain out of it? For example someone who uses their device purely for Facebook will see an extreme hike in their SoT opposed to someone who is constantly gaming keeping a high refresh rate going. So surely (kinda answering my own question here I think) the real gain is those who browse the Web and social media. Though would the gamer gain anything? I guess not unless he takes a break and uses it for browsing? Also, why can't software just lower down the refresh rate on phones that don't support it down to say 30 when doing these things? You'd probably see close to the same effect as 10Hz surely... Like it's cool a phone at 120Hz can drop to 10Hz though what's stopping software to await a response to be sitting at 30Hz on a phone from hiking it up as soon as it detects something? I don't know where I'm going with this really but I saw a YouTuber say they got 2 days SoT with the Galaxy s21 and I'm like wow that's impressive! Probably was just browsing social media and doing daily phone tasks but that if true is far better than any phone I've owned when I don't play games on it. [link] [comments] |
A strange noise that seems to happen every night? Posted: 21 Jan 2021 04:48 PM PST Over the past week, I've noticed that at night, I get this really strange noise on my phone. It sounds almost like what you would expect a Candy Crush advertisement to be with lots of sparkly, bubbly noises, however, no apps will be open and there's no indication of where this could possibly be coming from. Nothing changes on the screen, just sound. I'm pretty sure it happens at the same time every night, around 7:40 p.m. eastern time. I've checked to see if any background apps or browser tabs were open during these, but nothing. It lasts about 15 seconds, then it stops and won't come back until tomorrow. If I'm listening to something else on my phone, it will stop that noise to play this. The only apps I've downloaded since it happened is Sound Assistant (ironically to stop a certain app from making noise) and uninstalling/reinstalling Imgur. What's going on? How do I make it stop or figure out where it's coming from? S9+ [link] [comments] |
Samsung p5210 suspected hardbrick after Odin error: Complete(write) operation Posted: 21 Jan 2021 08:26 PM PST Was flashing Samsung p5210 w/ android 4.4.2 to fix a boot loop issue. Odin failed and tablet turned off in download mode. Now tablet will not reboot or power on , appears not to even be charging !! I was 100% sure tablet was updated to 4.4.2 kk prior to boot loop issue but due to Odin flash fail and subsequent black screen/no power I'm wondering if it was still running 4.2.2 jb but I suspect it was caused completely by the disconnect after 'Odin error: Complete(write) operation' fail. I've tried soft reset , removal battery / disconnected mb , re-entering d/l mode buttons - all the same result , black screen no power I am however getting a new Device connections recognised from windows when attached to laptop but no connections via Odin or dr fone so far as cannot re-enter d/l mode Is there anyway to salvage anything at this stage ? Posted: 21 Jan 2021 04:33 PM PST Hello, I'd appreciate any technical advice one wiser than I may have to give. The tech:
The problem: I use headphones when I call through various apps (traditional phone, WhatsApp, Discord) and the microphone is atrocious. I only discovered this when I compared recording myself both through the headphones and without, it's not even close, the in-built Note 9 microphone is clear and plenty loud enough, the headphones are quiet and early 2000s laptop microphone quality. I want to use the Note 9's built-in microphone but retain the ability to use headphones to listen through. My Googling has given me four answers:
I'd rather not risk knackering my phone doing things I don't understand. It seems silly not to be able to switch to the internal microphone when I'm sure I could do that on a laptop (It's right there! Just waiting to be used!) and I'd really like to give the people unfortunate enough to be listening to me the clearest misery they can have. I've looked into the splitter a bit but I must admit that I don't really know if it works how I think it works or if that's a ridiculous idea. I'd rather not fork out for new headphones if I can avoid it, particularly when these are still working, also anything new I buy will probably have a microphone that might also be rubbish whereas the phone's microphone is more than good enough. Can anyone offer any insight into what I can do about this? Sorry if this is the wrong forum but I figured that whatever I do is dependent upon the android software. Thank you for reading. Looking to Install ROM on Old Tablet Posted: 21 Jan 2021 08:09 PM PST What is the best ROM for smooth use of the 2014 Samsung Tab 4 (SM-T530NU)? Just looking for a clean looking UI (away from Samsung's UI). Nothing fancy. This would by my first root and ROM so any tutorial you can point me to would be great. Thank you! [link] [comments] |
Message notifications only pop up half the time? Posted: 21 Jan 2021 01:40 PM PST Hi guys so I am 13 and have a samsung galaxy J7 Refine and since about 1 or 2 months ago my phone has started to not show text message notifications all the time. For example, if my mom texts me with either no sound, vibrate, or sound on, it will only show the notification and make a sound/vibrate half the time she sends a message. This happens for all my contacts and its getting really annoying. If you know any fixes please mention them. Thanks! [link] [comments] |
Does GPS quality differ between phones? Posted: 21 Jan 2021 03:47 PM PST Finally lost my Pixel 1, so time to get a new phone. I use my phone like a dumb phone most of the time (just phone & text) but navigation is very important to me. Are there certain phones that have a "better GPS", whatever that would mean? (I had LineageOS on my Pixel 1 and its GPS was unreliable at times. Not sure if due to the phone's age or custom ROM) [link] [comments] |
Posted: 21 Jan 2021 07:30 PM PST Hey! I suddenly found that I have over 300,000 contacts. I don't know how. I tried to turn off all the accounts I have but still the same results. Now the contacts and dialer apps don't work. Tried to restart and everything to no avail. I have Note10+ running Android 11. [link] [comments] |
Posted: 21 Jan 2021 07:25 PM PST Hello, I'm somewhat new to phones using an Android OS, and in October of 2020 I got an LG Fortune 3. There's this weird thing I do sometimes where I'm on the home screen, and I'll zoom in on the screen as if it was a picture. All the apps disappear, and I can still scroll between screens, like my different pages of apps, but there's still nothing on my screen except my wallpaper. I'm wondering if there is any purpose to this? Can it be used for anything? Any advice or info would be helpful, and thank you very much in advance! [link] [comments] |

Posted: 21 Jan 2021 07:02 PM PST So, I got a refurbished phone from BackMarket. Same exact model but for some reason has an updated UI compared to the other one. I finish transferring all the apps and such, and then I opt to put in my micro SD Card.....that it doesn't recognize with even a popup. I went back to the other phone to unmount it, and it doesn't work. Other phone still says it's mounted, so I unmount it and format it and such, still nothing. I decide to switch SD Card trays, no change. I use a completely different micro SD card, nothing. Is there something I'm doing wrong or was I sold a defective model under the guise of "refurbished?" Similar hardware, slight differences, massive benchmark scores Posted: 21 Jan 2021 06:37 PM PST Hey everyone This is just a curiosity thing with the nerd in me, i was wondering why some phones with extremely similar specs can have such varying benchmarking scores in this world of phones, ill give you guys some examples. Mi 10 scored 575k Mi 10T Pro edition Scored around 646k ( according to googling ) Oneplus 8T scored 590k Oppo Find X2 Pro scored around 605k The differences in hardware are so minor, that it makes me wonder were the scores come from, and why a phone like the Mi 10 and Mi 10T Pro score so differently with almost the exact same hardware and MIUI 12 Just curiosity. How do I stop apps from accessing simcard info? Posted: 21 Jan 2021 02:50 PM PST I am rooted and I have appops as well, on android 11. Despite denying every single permission, the app can detect my simcard country region and therefore things like VPNs don't work. Temporary workaround is to use the app without a simcard. But that's obviously not a solution. [link] [comments] |
Where are database files for apps stored other than in /data/data? Posted: 21 Jan 2021 05:56 PM PST I have a few offline apps that I want to extract database files from. I have checked /data/data/{package_name} but the apps directory doesn't have it's database files there. I've also checked the Internal Storage/Android/data and /data/app but it doesn't seem to be in those locations either. Where else could these files be, or is there any way (by use of application or command) I could see where an app is storing it's db. I have a rooted phone so I can access all the parts of the my data etc. and use root apps as well. [link] [comments] |
MAC address randomizer on Android 10 Posted: 21 Jan 2021 05:42 PM PST Hi I read that android 10 has a mac randomizer. However, my phone WiFi mac address (in settings) remained unchanged after turning it on. When I click on my WiFi network and go to the advanced options in there, another different mac address appears. I would like to change my mac address. So which one should I be looking at? My screen is bugged/not working properly after removing a screen protector. Posted: 21 Jan 2021 01:52 PM PST Hi, I just wanna ask if my screen is broken or if its just a software bug, I'm using a samsung galaxy note 5 and ever since I bought a screen protecor, I've been having phantom touches on my screen whenever I touch it and a small part of my screen (at the bottom) is not responsive, all I know is that the phantom touches started when I was still using the screen protector and that after removing it the bottom part of my screen became unresponsive. Does anyone have any idea whats wrong and how can i fix this? And one more thing I wanna ask, sometimes, my phone speakers have been making this poppig/ rattling noise whenever I use it, I looked up a yt vid of how to solve it and I used a tooth brush to lightly try and clean it or something along with a bit of shaking my phone, is there a better way to solve that too? Can I limit the amount of storage used per app? Posted: 21 Jan 2021 05:36 PM PST I have a few apps that keep archives of everything, and don't start deleting old data until the phone is out of storage. I have no need to keep such old archives, and there is no setting in the app to limit it. Is it possible to allocate X amount of storage per app? [link] [comments] |
How do I change what part of the screen my phone uses? I can't get rid of round corners Posted: 21 Jan 2021 05:36 PM PST I find looking at a screen with rounded corners infuriating, yet I cannot find any way to adjust the display of my phone in such a way that it has a perfectly rectangular display. As a result, I have barely touched my OnePlus 6. I have rooted my phone, but I can't find any way to turn off the notch without still having hideous rounded corners on the display. It doesn't make sense why I can't do this, I know that there is enough screen space to do so. Any method of fixing this would be appreciated, the customization features I have found are horribly lacking [link] [comments] |
Help changing audio codec on my Sony 1000-xm4 headphones [OnePlus 7 Pro] Posted: 21 Jan 2021 03:12 PM PST I would like to change the audio codec to LDAC, but from the normal bluetooth settings, you can only enable or disable AAC. From the developer settings, it gives you the option to change it to a different codec, but when I change it, and leave the settings app, then go back, it goes back to AAC. I've tried disconnecting it from the second device, which also does not work. I'm still on OxygenOS 10, if that helps [link] [comments] |
Is there an easy way to organize apps for android? Posted: 21 Jan 2021 02:48 PM PST Hey y'all I frequently install and uninstall apps on my phone and this has led to me having 11 pages of mostly unused space that makes it so arduous to find anything. I've tried to consolidate them but needing to go one by one and dragging and waiting for the page to switch and then more waiting for the page to switch etc. is so annoying, is there an easier way to organize the apps? Thanks for the help! [link] [comments] |
