We made an app where you can download more than 60'000 ebooks for free.

    Posted: 09 Jan 2021 09:01 AM PST

    Hello everyone

We've been working on an app recently that makes it super simple to discover and download ebooks directly to your phone or ebook reader (Kindle etc.). Our goal was to create a nicer and better UX than other apps which currently offer similar functionality. We have more than 60'000 ebooks on our app waiting to be discovered.

Additionally, using generative deep learning, we created new cover art for more than 30'000 ebooks.

Hope you guys like it and we would love to hear your feedback!

[DEV] New F1 calendar I've developed

    Posted: 09 Jan 2021 02:34 AM PST

Hi, I was tired to use the mess that is the official f1 app so I've tried to find a good calendar app in the playstore but I wasn't able to find anything good looking. I've developed for myself this app and I've published it in the play store for free without any ads. If you want to check it out: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=xyz.romanello.formulacalendar ;)

[Request] Boredom box - App for suggesting my daily activities at random

    Posted: 09 Jan 2021 06:58 AM PST

    Hi there guys!

Due to my ADHD, I need a shitload of apps for organizing my life. Also, I need a lot of variety regarding my hobbies as well as all of my daily activities. For this reason, I built an "boredom box" - a box filled with a lot of small notes that have written various activities on them. Every day after work, I randomly pull out a note and then go with the leisure activity I have gotten for that day.

Now, I'd like to step up my game and replace my analog boredom box with a fitting digital app. To be honest, I actually just don't know what key words I have to search for, but the kind of app I'm looking for only has to have some very basic features:

    • Create entries for my activities
    • Create categories (like "Sport", "Nature", "Art", "Relaxation", "Social" and so on) and assign my entries to them
    • Randomize results - put out a randomly picked entry from a certain category chosen by the user

It would be a great help for me if maybe any of guys might know an app like that - or at least one with similar features that I could misuse for my purpose. x)
    Thanks for reading!

Is there an app, or even a default solution to set just 1 specific contact on a Do Not Disturb schedule?

    Posted: 08 Jan 2021 07:15 PM PST

I love my mom, but she demands attention at extremely inconvenient times. I can mute her, but I want those notifications to come through after a certain time each work day. Likewise, I don't want to have to turn on Do Not Disturb, allow every app EXCEPT my text app & phone, then allow every contact EXCEPT my mother. There's gotta be an easier, existing solution.

Edit: Samsung Note 9, Android 10.

I currently use Do Not Disturb at night for all applications. While I CAN set multiple schedules, I can't have multiple app configurations.

    Alternative for Brave browser

    Posted: 09 Jan 2021 06:19 AM PST

Brave browser often stops responding, freezes and even blocks my phone and I can't exit it at times. Are there any similar browsers to it that can block ads and trackers?

Friends help me, I need a brave browser alternative (which is not chromium based) & respects privacy to a certain extent

    Posted: 09 Jan 2021 04:35 AM PST

The goal here is to find a android browser that at least to an extent, respects your privacy while being somewhat smooth to use (smooth, fast, dark theme support and extension support). From what I've read on here and other sources, it seems that such a a browser cannot be chromium based.

So far I've tried: firefox (too slow, not smooth), iceraven (too slow, not smooth), fennec (too slow, not smooth).

Anyone got suggestions? Or maybe tips how I could get fennec or iceraven (or something else that is not chromium based) to run smoothly)?

    Cheers!

    Video editing app

    Posted: 09 Jan 2021 01:14 AM PST

Hello, is there any free android video editing app that won't ruin the original video resolution? I make 4K videos, so I'd be happy if it wasn't exported in anything lower than that. Thank you for your recommendations!

    Samsung users can you help?

    Posted: 09 Jan 2021 10:45 AM PST

Hi everyone, let me introduce the question: I stayed with android 8.0 and an old samsung ui for a while: It was never a problem cause I tended to install third-party apps to customize it, but I must have been left behind because I'm missing something.

I've been a nova launcher user for years now, I loved it and it's one of the first apps installed on my new samsung (UI 3.0), BUT I can't use widgets on full-screen on the home screen (The top and bottom part of the screen are not reachable by widgets). Is there a launcher that allows me to use them on a full screen? A setting I can't find in the settings? It's freaking me out a little bit, I find it very annoying. (KLWP It's not the solution I'm interested in).

I hope I have explained myself in the best way, to anyone who has the answer I offer eternal friendship

Trying to load apps via play store on Amazon Fire 7

    Posted: 09 Jan 2021 06:54 AM PST

I pulled out an old fire tablet this week. I had previously loaded the play store and it works for some but not all apps. For instance, when I try to install soundcloud or ytm, it fails. The play store has successfully updated apps that were previously installed.

Is there any way to fix this?

    Thanks!

[Question] Free Daywise alternative PostBox Focus safe to use?

    Posted: 08 Jan 2021 07:47 PM PST

As the title suggests, I discovered this neat little app on the Play Store, that is a free alternative to Daywise, which improves upon Google's implementation by adding an app whitelist and an editable notification delivery schedule.

However I couldn't find any reviews about this app on this sub or anywhere else or reddit. Since it deals with sensitive information in notifications, I'd like to check if the app is safe to use. Any reviews on this?

App that can receive video file shared from another app in order to compress it, then re-share?

    Posted: 09 Jan 2021 07:52 AM PST

I'm looking for an app to compress videos to send over text or email. Obviously there are a ton, but the workflow I'm looking for is that I open the app in my regular gallary, "share" it and have the compressor app show up as an app I can share the video to, then the compressor compresses it and lets me "share" the video to it's ultimate destination (messaging or email app).

One app that is *almost* perfect is [Video Transcoder](https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=protect.videoeditor&hl=en_US&gl=US). It's even open source and good about permissions! Only problem is it doesn't save your settings or have presets. That's a non-starter since this is for a non-tech savvy family member who doesn't care what bitrate is.

I'm not an Android dev, but I am a Java dev so I might just engage with the Video Transcoder developer and see if I can manage a PR. I just can't believe that what I'm looking for doesn't exist. It's also hard to search for ("share video" doesn't mean what you think it means).

Does anyone know of anything like that?

    1 Second Everyday Alternatives w/ 4K Support?

    Posted: 09 Jan 2021 07:38 AM PST

The 1SE app currently only supports 720p in the officially released version and 1080p in the beta. I've been disappointed at their slow improvements to increased quality, and especially now that my phone can record in 4K.

Are there any 1SE alternatives (daily video compilation apps) that can render the compiled video in 4K? Any direction would be helpful. Thank you!

[Request] Pop up widget for apps?

    Posted: 09 Jan 2021 05:46 AM PST

    Hey guys!

I really love pop up widget. It's great to put all my widgets in one place and not have them clog up the home screen.

I was wondering if there is a similar app for apps? Somewhere I could put all my favourite apps and then have them pop up with a gesture on Nova.

Anyone know of anything like this? TIA.

App to play offline music synchronized on multiple devices

    Posted: 09 Jan 2021 06:30 AM PST

Hi. I'm looking for on app to play music synced. In a way, that you have the same audiofiles on the memorycards of multiple devices (copied manually beforehand), and every device would play from their own storage (but synced). So the syncing app only controls the musicplayers to play pause etc, NOT STREAM the music accross the devices (nor play from web). I think I had some app for this some years ago, but don't remember what it was.. The syncplay-apps I can find seem to STREAM from one device to another, that's not what I'm after.

    Regards, Apa

YT music app playlist shortcuts on home screen?

    Posted: 09 Jan 2021 11:42 AM PST

Hey friends, if you used Google music app, you may have utilized playlist shortcuts on your home screen, that the app featured.. (since transitioning to youtube music app, I'm no longer able to do this)... I tried making home screen shortcuts from links to the playlists, which only opened my playlists in a browser :( having those shortcuts was really an ease of access that I took for granted.. any ideas will be greatly appreciated, have a wonderful day 🌞

    Calendar-based alarm app suggestions

    Posted: 09 Jan 2021 12:16 AM PST

I like to block out my calendar and have a recurring event that corresponds to my morning routine and when I wake up. For the past few years I've been using Tasker to trigger my alarm whenever that morning event is detected so I can plan ahead when to wake up in the future.

But Tasker recently switched to an expensive subscription model. Does anyone know if there's an alternative app that can do what I'm looking for? The closest I've found is Calendar Alarm Clock but that one doesn't check regularly so the alarm doesn't update if I change it in the morning.
