I'm not sure what to do... "This location isn't set up for installing games" Posted: 23 Jan 2021 07:50 PM PST So for some backstory, I sent my computer in to be repaired for some issues it had (not related to this issue) and the place ended up wiping it. I had all my stuff saved on a USB. When I got my computer back, I put everything back on it through the USB. This was a few months ago. Fast forward to today, I am trying to install Sea of Thieves from the Microsoft Store. I have owned this game since 2018 and already have files for it in my My Games folder. Since the game is 53 gigs or so, I wanted to install it on my D drive, not my C drive. My D drive has over 100 gigs of space so this is not a problem. On the Microsoft Store, I can choose to install the game on the D drive, but when I click install nothing happens. I read that this could be due to the fact that I have my C drive selected for "New apps will save to" within "Where new content is saved" in my storage settings. This was true, but when I chose to switch to my D drive instead of C drive it says "This drive has apps from another device. To use this drive, the other apps must first be deleted. Do you want to continue?". Is there any way that I could install this game on my D drive without having to delete my entire D drive first? tl;dr - trying to install a game from ms store, d drive has enough space but it won't install, went to storage setting but it says I need to delete the other apps on my D drive first. What should I do? Any input is appreciated :) [link] [comments]
Posted: 23 Jan 2021 07:30 PM PST Hello! I was trying to stream destiny 2 onto my series s, for some reason it shows a screen that I cannot see. Like a third monitor but I only have 2. I can't figure out if I'm doing something wrong. Any help is greatly appreciated! [link] [comments]
Posted: 23 Jan 2021 03:04 PM PST Constant BSOD not sure of the problem So I tried playing a game with my friend when my computer blue screened. I rebooted and tried playing and it happened again. Now anytime I try to play something that is hardware intensive, I blue screen. On top of that, yesterday I crashed first— then no other apps would open and even things like the search bar, start menu, and other windows apps. The errors I got were "Memory Management x1, Page faulted in non-pages area x2, NTFS x1, and bad pool caller x1" I ran several /sfc scannow, /dism /online /image /restore-health (can't remember the command line exact) and still nothing. The only virus that got scanned on my PC is segurazo which is PUP that, according to my research, does pretty much nothing. I reinstalled drivers, checked the version of windows, ran a memory diagnostic and nothing had fixed it. My only guess is that it's system file corruption especially since my normal windows apps like start menu wouldn't work and my ssd has been used over multiple pc's, is too small (constantly has <10gb storage left) and it also about 5-6 years old. Good results with EaseUS just wanted to share Posted: 23 Jan 2021 01:33 PM PST I installed EaseUS software which runs resident and keeps Windows 10 from "updating". I realize updates are important, but even if you choose to schedule, Windows 10 notoriously hogs resources doing all kinda shit in the background. Since installing it, I have had a 10x increase in my wifi performance! Im not shitting you, tenfold. This is after agonizing forever over Windows' update system that just does what it wants and always hogs the system resources. Just wanted to share my experience because this truly made the difference for me making Windows 10 really usable versus intolerable. [link] [comments]

Help with tiny icons in shortcuts Posted: 23 Jan 2021 02:10 PM PST Hello, I have a folder to my games, and some of them I change icons to look better. But I'm having problems because occasionally the icons get small. And even though I change the icon or delete the shortcut and put it in the folder again, it continous whith the same problem, and the same icon too (I imagine that there is some cache somewhere). Anyone knows how I can solve it? Exemples: Terraria, RE2 and Injustice tiny icons [link] [comments]

Bought POS with wrong version of Windows Posted: 23 Jan 2021 09:31 AM PST I purchased a replacement computer from a local seller instead of my cooperative equipment supplier. My POS computer came with win 10 IOT had to reimage with win 10 LTSC to load the right software. Windows is not activated but running fine with no alerts whatsoever. Our admins apparently don't have access to the keys, the independent company we own to purchase this equipment for us likely doesn't know this as they just sell the computers to us with limited tech knowledge. Tech support referred me to the key sticker (which is an IOT version), microsoft has told me the key I have obviously won't work. My ? will all the computers with the same model # in our organization have the same product key? They pay windows for about 10,000 devices regardless of if we own or run the computers for continues security support. I'm assuming I can't just buy one of these keys as they aren't a retail product right? The computer reseller has offered to refund me, but considering the time it's taken me and will take me to reimage it back I would prefer to keep it and get it activated somehow. Are there any reasons to update my Intel Wireless Bluetooth Driver? Posted: 23 Jan 2021 01:06 PM PST If it's working properly with the version I currently have? I'm always iffy about updating drivers as something random often happens. [link] [comments]

I’m running windows 7 and I’m looking for a usb Bluetooth adapter. Posted: 23 Jan 2021 12:53 PM PST Just left Best Buy and they had only one and it says windows 10 only. Target has nothing and it's not even worth trying Walmart. And there's no other computer store around so I'm asking Reddit. Anyone have one that works and can recommend that isn't like $35+ before shipping lol. [link] [comments]
Posted: 23 Jan 2021 12:51 PM PST My friend has an product key but cannot activate Windows on his laptop. He is currently running Windows 8.1 and needs to activate Windows before upgrading to Windows 10. Any solution is highly appreciated. [link] [comments]
Requesting Advice on Windows XP Skin for Windows 10 Posted: 23 Jan 2021 12:50 PM PST Lately, I decided to set my desktop background to Bliss (1996), because - you know - it's a good photo. But that got me thinking: what if, every time I opened my computer and sat down to work, I could get PTSD for like one or two seconds? What if, every time I open up Visual Studio 2019, I could feel as if I'm in some goddamn school library writing a paragraph on what it means to be a superhero in MS Word 2000? What if, for probably the first few days before I get over myself and revert everything back to normal, I could have that same weird feeling that a trolley with a dusty CRT television is about to roll into my room and that I would now have to cringe through 20 minutes of Bill Nye The Science Guy before proceeding with my 2nd year Calculus course? I would like some of that sweet, sweet nostalgia in my life. Which is why, at 4:00 AM this morning, I decided to somehow reskin my desktop into a 4k version of a windows XP desktop. I looked up several guides on the Internet, most of which included Classic Shell, but the result was that my desktop had this weird aesthetic of being simultaneously W10 and WXP, with elements of both operating systems somehow overlayed onto each other. My question is: what is the best way to reskin my Windows 10 desktop to look exactly like a Windows XP desktop? [link] [comments]
Audio driver/input and output not starting on Dell G5 15 Posted: 23 Jan 2021 12:19 PM PST So I'm sure there's probably tons of other threads on here with the same problem but I haven't been able to yet find one that works. I've had a Dell G5 15 laptop for ~2 years now and have reset it two or three times in the process. The most recent time I did so, the Intel Smart Sound Technology driver completely stopped working, iirc the message code was 10 if that helps. Is there any way to fix this? I've tried multiple different solutions- uninstalled the driver with device manager and restarted a few times, went on Realtek audio driver installs for my laptop and reinstalled it (which would work for a few minutes then fail again), etc etc. I don't know too too much about drivers and computers as I'm still getting into it all, but if you need more info on what happened I can try and figure out specifics. Any help is greatly appreciated. [link] [comments]
windows 10 lockscreen not responding to keyboard sometimes. Posted: 23 Jan 2021 12:04 PM PST When I press the keyboard, it normally should unlock it and move me to the password screen, but sometimes it doesn't work at all. The lockscreen doesn't pick up any keys being pressed. [link] [comments]
Looking for resources on understanding how software and its file components interact with Windows Posted: 23 Jan 2021 05:43 AM PST Hello, I work in IT and noticed that a lot of the problems we have on workstations are software problems. So I am trying to better understand how software packages run in the background and how programs run generally. Like, I would like to open the program files folder and know what the purpose of each file is and the function it serves in the program and know, generally how a software program works (what files it calls on to load and function/the different components of it). Sometimes at my job, I have to edit these files to change port names or ip addresses, etc. and am looking for resources on understanding all of this. I would also like to learn how JAVA interacts with Windows and what role file extensions like .xml and .jrxml play in programs that call on these files. Thank you so much. [link] [comments]
