- Not sure if this belongs here, but I was able to use my CRT to display my computer screen, and I like to watch older shows on it because of the matching aspect ratios. Unfortunately there are these weird artifacts on the picture that sometimes go away, but usually not. Any clues?

- Can't get an image to display after attempting to install a graphics card. Removed the card and tried to just go back to the onboard graphics, still no picture. Have tried multiple monitors and cable types.
- This is a tecnika 39E21B-FHD. I have completely lost the stand, I want to only mount it via a stand. What options do I have? This doesn't seem to be standard VESA connectors.

Posted: 29 Jan 2021 06:10 AM PST My laptop (Dell Inspiron 15 7579, i7-8550u, mx130, 1x16GB RAM, 1TB SSD) performs just fine when I'm just doing everyday stuff, along with gaming. The problem occurs when I open the Windows Start menu and do alt+tab. It stutters like crazy and my music/podcasts slow down and crackle. I've checked for updates, and am currently on 20H2. I've checked for updates and got no new updates. This problem also happened in previous versions as well. I've updated like every driver possible (except for my MX130, which apparently I couldn't get anymore updates so I'm on the last update NVIDIA rolled out). I've also maxed out my power options (conversely, I also tried lowering power options) with the Windows' power plans and Throttlestop. This computer also has been reset entirely. Just to be clear, this problem also appears to be happening on startup, with barely any applications opened. What can I do now? I would switch to Linux, but I can't do that entirely (yet) because a lot of applications I use aren't on Linux. [link] [comments]
Need to figure out what hard drives are compatible with HP Pavilion Gaming 15 Posted: 29 Jan 2021 01:00 PM PST I need more storage on my laptop (HP Pavilion Gaming 15-dk0xxx). Brand new, and it's running out of space only a month after I bought it. Looking at storage options, I don't want something fast (though as fast as my current standard hard drive would be nice), I want as much storage as I can cram into this thing. I'm confident I can install it myself and do all the data transfer and whatnot, but I'm paranoid about getting something that isn't compatible for my laptop. At the moment, I have about $250 to spare, but I'm getting paid soon and will be willing to spend up to $300. Yes, I've googled it. No, I haven't found a single answer! It's frustrating. Posted: 29 Jan 2021 12:34 PM PST I tried to put a GTX 465 Performance Edition XLR8 GPU into my ASUS Essentio CM1630 tower. The computer previously up until this point had displayed an image when hooked up to a monitor either via HDMI, or VGA cables. After installing the new GPU, the unit would not display an image when connected to any monitor using any kind (VGA, DVI, OR HDMI) of cable. Should note that I'd also replaced the Processor, and put 8 more GB of RAM into it as well. I've removed the GPU that I attempted to install and tried hooking it back up to the same monitors. Still not getting a picture. The tower seems to power on fine, I just can't see an image to see what the computer is doing. It should have reverted back to the onboard graphics. Any help with this matter would be greatly appreciated.. What should I try doing? [link] [comments]

Father's PC won't load windows, can't access safe mode. Posted: 29 Jan 2021 03:27 AM PST My father (mid 70s) is not a tech star. Im serviceable. He's also been locked down for months so this support is happening via phone (I know). He runs an older pc that houses all of his small business information so he's desperate to get it fixed, I'm desperate to help him. Recently, the computer is giving him fail to load windows errors. Neither option on the screens above get anywhere, starting windows normally is unresponsive and 'repair' asks for a disk he doesn't have. I've already had him hammering f8 to try and get to safe mode, no dice. Would greatly appreciate any suggestions. TIA [link] [comments]
