- Is it safe to place an external keyboard over a laptop like this? Using a fabric to prevent possible scratches, I don't have much space on my desk and I can't put the keyboard anywhere else. Do you know any possible risks? Laptop is a Lenovo Legion 5, keyboard is a Drevo Calibur V2.

I've already tried to uninstall and reinstall the Touchscreen interface driver, but it's done nothing. Apparently a lot of people have had this issue and Lenovo haven't reached out to properly address or fix this problem, from my understanding. Posted: 22 Jan 2021 01:56 PM PST It's a 10 yr old Toshiba laptop and all things considered, it runs pretty well (despite the tiny cpu). Only problem is, the fan keeps going loud to quiet constantly. The CPU isn't flooded when it it gets loud, it just seems to WHIR and then gentle whir randomly. Is this a hardware fix? Would some canned air in the fan holes help? [link] [comments]  | ||

Take it down if that's the case I bought a new laptop today, and I'm quite happy with it, but for some reason, it just shows a black screen when I use the Netflix app or Microsoft edge to run Netflix. It'll show the menu screen and the previews, but not the actual thing I'm watching. It works fine with Firefox. I had a look on Google, but that only seemed to have suggestions for how to get the screen to display on the TV, and that seems to be working. Any idea what's wrong? [link] [comments]  | ||

However I use dual boot and when I turn it on it goes on charge for 5-7 seconds. Is there a way to limit maximum charge in GRUB? Can these little charging cycles decrease the battery lifespan? Now, I have a larger budget since my 21st birthday was at the start of this month (yay, adult), and I've been looking at laptops again. I'm a college student, doing Music Performance, about to start an assignment to create a song, so I'll need something to run some music software, as well as something I can use to procrastinate with :) I've had my eyes on this laptop for a day or two and I'm thinking it looks pretty good. It's well within my price range, plenty of storage space and, while I dont know much about computers in general, I know that SSD's are pretty darn fast lol. | New battery in 15-b101sd not being detected, but working? Posted: 22 Jan 2021 10:40 AM PST Hi all, I recently acquired a HP 15-b101sd laptop. Came with a dead battery, so bought a new battery online. Installed it today, and the battery works just fine. However, the laptop still displays the HP 601 battery alert upon starting. Once booted into Windows, the battery symbol in the taskbar is greyed out. When I click it it says '100% fully charged'. When unplugging the charger it changes to 'Unknown time remaining' Any ideas? The new battery seems to be working fine, but it's like Windows can't communicate with the battery or something. Already tried deleting the battery driver, and removing the battery and holding the power button for 30 seconds. This is the battery report from windows. [link] [comments]  | ||

I just started a musical artist booking and management company outside of my current job, and that would account for the majority of my laptops use. Typical business stuff you would expect, spreadsheets, emails, don't know if I'd have a need to create marketing materials, but it's possible. I will also be viewing music media regularly using this laptop, and may want to record some of my own music as well, but unsure at the moment and considering a desktop for my own recording set up. I've tended to be a windows/pc guy because I like cracking it open and making simple repairs when performance starts to degrade, but am open to apple products as well. I would like a good processor, and good battery life. Budget is probably around $1k give or take a couple hundred. What should I look into? [link] [comments]  | ||

Afaik, the best gpu is the quadro m2200m or the gtx965m, both at about 400 USD. Are there any newer mxm3.0a gpus, are there going to be any new ones in the future, or if I want anything above a 35-50 dollar radeon card, should I just use expresscard for an egpu, as I already have a gtx980 laying around. I know that expresscard has limited bandwidth, and that performance drops by 60-65 percent, so I'm aware of that. [link] [comments]  | ||
