| Laptop won't go into sleep mode Posted: 29 Jan 2021 11:21 AM PST Hi all, I recently acquired a Asus X54H laptop. Performed a clean install of Windows 10 (All drivers installed). Laptop is working fine, but when I either close the lid, or manually put it into sleep mode, the screen turns off but the laptop stays powered on with the fan running. When it's in this state I can't get the screen to turn back on either. Only turning it off by holding the power button and turning it back on again works. Any ideas? | Ssd not showing up after installing Posted: 29 Jan 2021 01:30 PM PST So I got a cheap laptop from Walmart black friday. It's a gateway GWTN156-1GR. It has a door on the bottom to install a second M.2 ssd. I bought a 500gnb WD Black SN750. Easy enough to install since open the little door and insert. Problem is it's not showing up. Looked in disc management and nothing. Could it be that this ssd is too fast. I'm no expert at SSD drives. I think this ssd is x4. Maybe it's not compatible? I don't know the motherboard. And honestly i have no idea how this all works. someone told me i might need a coolig pad so im wonderig if i really do need one. | Is it safe to use my Laptop without the screws in the chassis? Posted: 29 Jan 2021 12:45 PM PST Opened my laptop to clean it and decided to buy a new RAM Stick while I'm at it. The Stick won't be here for a while but I'd like to avoid putting the screws in and then back out once it's here (will probably take around a month)

I've read a lot of great reviews about Lenovo and, given that there aren't many options where I'm from and they can be quite expensive it's been tough trying to find one. I've now found a Notebook Lenovo Yoga 460, Intel Core i5 6200U 2.3 GHz, 8GB, 256GB SSD with windows 10 home pre installed. BUT... It's refurbished... So apparently it has a couple things on the outer of it but everything else should be fine. It's about 700 usd (medium price where I am) Is it worth it though? | Posted: 29 Jan 2021 09:17 AM PST Ok so I'm starting my studies and I want to get a really good overview and some thoughts on what to get for my software development and Business Management studies. I've been thinking for months now what to get but I just can't come up with a solid purchase. I want my laptop to be compact yet powerful (not bigger than 13-14 inches). I saw that Uni in 1 semester we will be running a specific Linux distro in VM, I also saw that there are some Java powered programs that I will be using, perfect functionality of ms office would be much needed (including macros). I also saw that there will be A LOT of mathematics, really plenty of it, and I just can't organize my notes on paper, I always lose them. So I will also need a device that I will organize all my notes and feel comfortable taking notes and solving tasks for long time, if it's an iPad I would like to have good syncing between my devices. I have a ge66 Raider for content creating, so gaming and editing/graphics are done there anyway. I'm willing to throw 3 grand on this equipment so I want to have a good combination of devices or a standalone device, whatever it would be better. I would really appreciate your help! The problem is, when trying to install windows 10, the ssd doesn't show up. It doesn't show up in the bios either. The only place where it does show up is in linux when I used gparted to format it. At first it wasn't formatted but even after formatting it it still doesn't show up in windows install, nor in the bios. Any idea if this ssd is faulty or what can be done to install windows on it?
