    LAPTOP QUESTIONNAIRE

    • Total budget (in local currency) and country of purchase. Please do not use USD unless purchasing in the US:
      35 000 CZK
    • Are you open to refurbs/used?
      No
    • How would you prioritize form factor (ultrabook, 2-in-1, etc.), build quality, performance, and battery life?
I want the best possible battery life and good build quality
    • How important is weight and thinness to you?
Not really important but I would like light weight laptop
    • Do you have a preferred screen size? If indifferent, put N/A.
      14″
    • Are you doing any CAD/video editing/photo editing/gaming? List which programs/games you desire to run.

Mostly thinks like MS Office, watching movies and browsing net. Maybe some not very
    demanding games.

    • If you're gaming, do you have certain games you want to play? At what settings and FPS do you want?
Some smaller games, maybe Overwatch too (not really important).
    • Any specific requirements such as good keyboard, reliable build quality, touch-screen, finger-print reader, optical drive or good input devices (keyboard/touchpad)?
      No
    • Leave any finishing thoughts here that you may feel are necessary and beneficial to the discussion.
    • I mainly want laptop for work and watching movies, but it should be easily transportable.

Hi, so I can't decide between these 3 laptops and I would appreciate advices. They all have 14" IPS 1920 × 1080, 512GB SSD and 16GB of RAM, the MSI also has Windows 10 Pro.

Asus Zenbook 14 UX425EA-BM094T - Intel Core i7 1165G7 Tiger Lake (2,8-4,7 GHz, 28 W and 8 MB cache), Intel Iris Xe Graphics

MSI Summit B14 - Intel Core i5 1135G7 Tiger Lake (2,4-4,2 GHz, 12 W and 8 MB cache) and Intel Iris Xe

    Asus Zenbook 14 UM425IA-AM020T - AMD Ryzen 7 4700U (2-4,1 GHz, 15 W and 8 MB cache), AMD Radeon RX Vega 7

The first one costs the most and the MSI and Zenbook with AMD costs almost the same. Which one of these do you think is better?

Laptop for medium big games and office tasks; clueless person

    Posted: 24 Jan 2021 01:23 AM PST

    LAPTOP QUESTIONNAIRE

    • Total budget (in local currency) and country of purchase. Please do not use USD unless purchasing in the US:

      400€ as absolute max., Germany

    • Are you open to refurbs/used?

Yes, however only if in very good condition

    • How would you prioritize form factor (ultrabook, 2-in-1, etc.), build quality, performance, and battery life?

Looks aren't important to me, I would like a speedy performance and a medium battery life (min 5 hours)

    • How important is weight and thinness to you?

Doesn't have to be weightless, should be transportable tho

    • Do you have a preferred screen size? If indifferent, put N/A.

      Around 15"

    • Are you doing any CAD/video editing/photo editing/gaming? List which programs/games you desire to run.

Small games should run without trouble (something like ultimate chicken horse, trine 2 and similar (also newer) games

    • If you're gaming, do you have certain games you want to play? At what settings and FPS do you want?

I don't know a lot about this. Like I said, ultimate chicken horse, trine 2 and other "smaller/medium" games. The graphics can be medium, I don't really know a lot about the frames per second.

    • Any specific requirements such as good keyboard, reliable build quality, touch-screen, finger-print reader, optical drive or good input devices (keyboard/touchpad)?

Would enjy a CD drive, but it's not a knock-out criteria

    • Leave any finishing thoughts here that you may feel are necessary and beneficial to the discussion.

I would enjoy a laptop which I can play medium big games with and do office tasks. Since office tasks aren't really a problem for any laptop I suppose, the gaming aspect is the important one for the decision making.

Feel free to join our Discord server at: https://discordapp.com/invite/pes68JM for a faster response!

I hope I did this correctly, if there are any more questions just ask away. Sorry for partly vague answers, I really don't know too much about gaming / laptops. Thanks in advance!

Looking For 17" laptop for video editing and many years of use, uSA, under ~$2500

    Posted: 23 Jan 2021 10:38 PM PST

Total budget (in local currency) and country of purchase. Please do not use USD unless purchasing in the US: -Hopefully under $2,500, I know prices exceed several times this for the very best- Are you open to refurbs/used? -Perhaps if the deal was good enough- How would you prioritize form factor (ultrabook, 2-in-1, etc.), build quality, performance, and battery life? -I'd prefer just a regular laptop, high quality, I know it's asking too much for a removable battery but if those exist still that'd be cool- How important is weight and thinness to you? -Not that concerned- Do you have a preferred screen size? If indifferent, put N/A. -16/17" - Are you doing any CAD/video editing/photo editing/gaming? List which programs/games you desire to run. -I'd like to start editing 4k video from my camera and drone, and not have to buy another laptop later on- If you're gaming, do you have certain games you want to play? At what settings and FPS do you want? -N/A- Any specific requirements such as good keyboard, reliable build quality, touch-screen, finger-print reader, optical drive or good input devices (keyboard/touchpad)? -I'm pretty open to anything- Leave any finishing thoughts here that you may feel are necessary and beneficial to the discussion. -This is a major purchase for me, so spending $2k+ on a machine that will be obsolete in 5 years doesn't sound appealing. I've looked at the new Macbook Pro's and while I really like them, the idea of not being able to upgrade doesn't sit well with me. Ideally I'd probably use this computer intensively for the next 6-8 years-

    Laptop graphic design

    Posted: 23 Jan 2021 06:16 PM PST

    Hi everyone,

I'm currently looking for a laptop for work (graphic design field). I know a lot of people would go with the MacBook Pro 15 but I don't want to spend that much. I think there are other possibilities and I was originally looking at some models.

    Acer Nitro 5 15.6" Intel Core i5-9300H 2.4GHz / 8GB RAM / 256GB SSD

    Apple MacBook Air (2020) 13.3" Apple M1 / 8GB RAM / 256GB SSD

    Lenovo IdeaPad Flex 5 14" Touchscreen 2-in-1 Laptop -Grey (Intel i5-1135G7/512GB SSD/8GB RAM/Win 10)

    ASUS ROG Strix G15 15.6" Gaming Laptop (Intel Core i5-10300H/512GB SSD/8GB RAM/GTX 1650 Ti)

I don't know what to choose and I don't know if I should go with a MacBook even if that's the model air. If someone has other ideas in the same range of price I'm here to listen!

    General purpose Laptop Greece, student

    Posted: 24 Jan 2021 03:52 AM PST

Hello all, in Greece we will receive a voucher of 200 euro for hardware. I already have a tablet so I would like to invest in a laptop/notebook.

    LAPTOP QUESTIONNAIRE

    • Total budget (in local currency) and country of purchase. Please do not use USD unless purchasing in the US:

500€ (200€ from voucher, plus 300€ me), Greece

    • Are you open to refurbs/used?

    No

    • How would you prioritize form factor (ultrabook, 2-in-1, etc.), build quality, performance, and battery life?

Looks aren't important to me, performance is important, I intend to have it mostly stationary so I will try to take the battery out. Overall I would love to keep it for as much time as possible.

    • How important is weight and thinness to you?

    Not important

    • Are you doing any CAD/video editing/photo editing/gaming? List which programs/games you desire to run.

I intend to play games, but not high performance ones.

    • If you're gaming, do you have certain games you want to play? At what settings and FPS do you want?

Currently I play Roblox, but in case I want to play a more demanding game in terms of performance, I wouldn't mind playing in the lowest settings.

    • Any specific requirements such as good keyboard, reliable build quality, touch-screen, finger-print reader, optical drive or good input devices (keyboard/touchpad)?

Nothing preferences, what is best for performance.

    • Leave any finishing thoughts here that you may feel are necessary and beneficial to the discussion.

I realize in 2021 you absolutely need a good machine to run your daily work, in this case school, but also to have fun. Thank you a lot everybody in advance :)

    Help!

    Posted: 24 Jan 2021 03:39 AM PST

I am so completely overwhelmed right now trying to choose a laptop. I am allergic to sitting still or staying in one place, so desktops have never suited me. Because of this, I'm trying to do the impossible task of having a laptop that can do it all - and when 'it all' currently includes gaming, graphic design, high level photo retouching/photoshop (with a history of needing it for video editing and audio recording- which has been off the table recently but I'd ideally like to not have to reassess my whole set up to jump back in to that) I know that's a tall order. On top of that, I've grown really accustomed to using the Microsoft Surface Book line. Last device was a SB 2, top specs, so ideally I really want a quality touch screen (although I know I can buy wacom for the pen input and just deal with the slight inconvenience.).

Problem with the surface books is they're complete shit. They break after 12 months if they're not DOA and MS customer support is the actual worst.

So that's where I'm at. I know I can't have all those things listed and need a reality check, so any pracrical advice from people who do similar tasks with their laptops is much appreciated. What works for you? It looks like the touch screen is going to have to go, but aside from that, which laptops should I be looking at?

Do I get something now, or is it a bad time to buy?

Price will be a consideration but I know what I need will be expensive. Anything around the same price as the SB range is fine, but will honestly hear any ideas at this point.

    Thankyouu!

Advice on Ryzen or Intel for 3D design!

    Posted: 23 Jan 2021 11:20 PM PST

Hello everyone and happy new year.

I need your input to choose one of the laptops below please. I am planning to buy a custom laptop and am a bit confused with all that am reading in various sites.I use simultaneously four programs when I work on my projects plus I have open outlook and chrome.. Those programs are: 1.Autocad 2.Rhino 3. Vray or twinmotion or lumion (depending on the project but mostly twinmotion) 4. Photoshop.

I build the plan view in autocad, create the 3d in rhino, render it in either of the 3 renderers above and then post production in photoshop Below are the two systems that I have into consideration. Which one do you recommend?

AMD Ryzen 9 3900 desktop CPU (not the X) NVIDIA GeForce RTX 2070 Refresh 8 GB 32 GB DDR4-3200 Samsung 500 GB M.2 Samsung 960 EVO

    Intel i7 10875H NVIDIA GeForce RTX 3070 8 GB 32 GB DDR4-2666 Corsair 500 GB M.2 Samsung 960 EVO

Hey guys. I'm in two minds about purchasing 2 specific models of the HP Envy range

I know I am purchasing one of these but don't know which one to purchase. As it will be for school, I'd like at least 10 hours battery life, along with the capability to use cad programs such as OnShape and Fusion360 and to be able to play GTA V at decent settings in my spare time. The specs are below along with the price although the price doesn't bother me and the model number.

Thank you for your time and recommendations.

Looking for a good laptop to replace my hand-me-down

    Posted: 24 Jan 2021 02:11 AM PST

Hello! I'm looking for a new laptop that's better than my current one. My current one is a hand-me-down that can barely run Source games and can't even run Minecraft. Plus, it's starting to show it's age. So, I decided this would be my best place to find a new laptop that would be good for me. The laptop questionnaire is below:

    LAPTOP QUESTIONNAIRE

    • Total budget (in local currency) and country of purchase. Please do not use USD unless purchasing in the US:
I'd prefer to keep it under $600 USD, I may can go a little over, but I'd prefer not to
    • Are you open to refurbs/used?
Probably, as on as they were in good enough condition
    • How would you prioritize form factor (ultrabook, 2-in-1, etc.), build quality, performance, and battery life?
I'd prefer it not to be too poor quality (not too flimsy or anything), and battery life isn't a huge factor, since it'll be plugged up most of the time, but good battery life would definitely be a plus
    • How important is weight and thinness to you?
      Couldn't care less
    • Do you have a preferred screen size? If indifferent, put N/A.
      N/A
    • Are you doing any CAD/video editing/photo editing/gaming? List which programs/games you desire to run.
I'd like a laptop that can do light gaming (games listed in below answer), and light photo editing
    • If you're gaming, do you have certain games you want to play? At what settings and FPS do you want?
The main games I'd like to be able to play well is Garry's Mod (high settings, lots of mods, pretty good fps), other source games, Minecraft (high settings), and maybe some other light games
    • Any specific requirements such as good keyboard, reliable build quality, touch-screen, finger-print reader, optical drive or good input devices (keyboard/touchpad)?
I'd like the keyboard to be good quality since I'll probably be doing a lot of typing
    • Leave any finishing thoughts here that you may feel are necessary and beneficial to the discussion.
Hope you guys can help me find a good option! Thanks in advance! :)

Looking to buy a new laptop, considering the Lenovo yoga 7i 2-in-1 15.6". Any reviews or suggestions for another laptop?

    Posted: 23 Jan 2021 12:16 PM PST

USA, budget under $1000, interested in 15"

My HP recently broke after cracking the bezel and the screen detaching from the keyboard in a very sad way. Looking to get a new one that will last for a long time. Currently a student and in healthcare so having touchscreen is great for studying and charting. Does anyone have any reviews of the Lenovo yoga 7i? Any other suggestions welcome! Thank you

Need help choosing a laptop from a list with £500 voucher!

    Hi guys!

I need help choosing a laptop from this list where I'm getting £500 off from any of these laptops. The list includes the price of the laptops and then how much cost will be remaining after the voucher is used.

I'm thinking of getting the HP 255 G8 Ryzen as there won't be any additional cost, however, I need help knowing if it's worth spending an extra £100 - £200 for the other laptops on the list. Like, is there a major difference between the HP 255 G8 Ryzen and the other ones on the list for everyday activities and also running programs such as MATLAB and Multisim. I need the laptop for university.

The laptops are all on Educational prices.

Here is the link to the PDF file for the list of the laptops:

    Thank you for the help!
