It suggested usernames I don't use and is really obnoxious. I thought it was from Samsung pass; I searched Samsung pass high and low, deleted samsung pass cache, disabled samsung pass with a disabler, deleted my samsung account... nothing. I've searched Google- nothing. I long press them and nothing. What is this bar and how can I delete its saved usernames and disable it? Thank you for any suggestions and help! [link] [comments]  |
| How do I secure android against outside actors such as the police? Posted: 12 Jan 2021 09:06 PM PST So I'm running a metropcs Samsung A20 mine is the version without the OEM unlockable bootloader. It's running Android 10 and I use a password with no biometrics. Here is an example of my password, this isn't my real password obviously but one with a similar character count, and number / caps placement. Password = "?qtx-Hyp3rfour:30". It's not the most complicated password but it's also far from a 4 digit pin. With Android 10 using full disk encryption and a moderate strength password what attack vectors would the police or any outside actor use to access my data? One method I could imagine would be the police requesting the bootloader unlock code from Samsung and then trying to gain root access to bypass security. However even doing that does not unlock the encryption. Maybe with an unlocked bootloader they could copy the data and then try and brute force it? I know there is a 15 try limit on the password so perhaps with an unlocked bootloader the data could be copied and then ran on multiple virtual simulated environments so each environment would enable 15 more tries without triggering the real device to delete the data if those tries failed. I need an expert opinion on this, I know it can be done. They do it everyday to people but do those people just use crappy 1234 pass codes or can it be done to any android phone. | Posted: 12 Jan 2021 08:54 PM PST i have an old Sony Xperia Z5, been using it since it was released. Yesterday my phone rebooted itself and now its in a "reboot loop". After the "Powered by Android" logo appears it reboots itself, led light flashes 4 times and reboots again. So basically i cant do anything. Tried plugging it to the PC with the Xperia Companion but because the phone doesnt boot up and its locked i cant do anything. Tried using fast boot and nothing either. I also tried to boot the phone in recovery mode but it just doesnt work, it keeps restarting over and over. Is there a way to do a backup without having debugging mode on? As someone in a very complex situation (currently 6000+ miles away from family) I usually sleep through most of the gatherings and community events, which now take place online. I've been wondering if there's an app that could help my family members set a 'group' alarm (or to somehow send me an alarm) so I can attend these things as well? Because of the cancellations and term changes that frequently occur, they would set up reminders only moments before the actual events, so I'm looking for an app that would automatically 'accept' all the upcoming alarms. (I won't be awake to accept them on my own) I'm out of solution right now, so I'd appreciate anyone's suggestion (no matter if its a calendar, a reminder, to-do app, or a regular alarm - I just hope there's an app like that) Thanks in advance. Because only the settings of the program that I use for certain backups have the settings When I check the Google Drive app, it shows backups for that date, but there is no way to restore from the backup date listed on the settings page. I just upgraded from the Blade Vantage after 3 years of loyal service to the Orbic Wonder (I know it's not that big of an upgrade, but better than what I had) the old phone didn't support OTG so I couldn't transfer phone to phone for my photos and videos, and my original microSD ( still in the old device) was formatted as internal storage when I first got it and when I tried to plug the phone into a PC whether it was the phone or the card it didn't recognize the storage on the card so I couldn't dump and transfer that way, so I backed up to the cloud and have since relocated and have no computer access at the moment. so my question is I bought a new card for the new phone (SanDisk 64GB ultra microSDXC UHS-I) and need to download my photos and videos from the cloud, given the issue before where the computer would not recognize the storage on the card would it be better to format this new card as portable or internal storage? My main concern is being able to make room on the new phone and keep it from running slow because it's only 16 GB and with the few apps I've added on manually it's already nearing capacity, also wanting to be able to store some of that app data on the SD card and still get to access all my photos and videos once they're on there also. I bought a $90 two unlimited lines with 10g/line hotspot data (the Walmart only one) I've called straight talk and spend about 4 hours on the phone with them, every time I go to turn on my hotspot it says my plan doesn't allow it. On their end, they say it does and their computer reflects that. They've sent updates, had me restart and factory reset,and still nothing. Twice,it randomly let me connect momentarily. The first time disconnected after a few minutes, the second I turned off until I was ready to use it and it won't comeback on again. I have absolutely no clue what the issue could be. | Tons of issues on Pixel 4A 5G? Posted: 12 Jan 2021 04:27 PM PST I just came to android for the first time in over half a decade and my experience so far has been awful. There are some debilitating issues with my phone. 1, the least important one: headphone volume is very low in comparison to my iPhone 7. Not bluetooth. Wired headphones. 2: Phone stutters occasionally, like you would expect a decently old phone to do. Not a brand new one. 3: The default messages up does NOT work. It worked for a bit, but now I am encountering a blank screen 70% of the time upon opening, my messages don't send (instantly disappear upon pressing send) and notifications come in very late. This is accompanied by a notification saying that the app is working in the background. Multiple resets, including a hard reset and a safe mode reset have done nothing to change any of this. | Posted: 12 Jan 2021 04:04 PM PST Hi all, I just switched from an iPhone 8 to an S20FE. I used SmartSwitch to transfer my photos and videos (around 14000 total) and they appeared to be fine in the gallery. When I opened other apps (I checked Instagram, snapchat, and messenger) they appeared out of order. Particularly snapchat layered the videos first then photos both out of order. I saw there was a folder called "iPhone data" so I tried moving those to the folders just called "Photos" and "Movies". This ended up somehow duplicating everything, with every other photo being a "Media not available" or something like that. I've thus just deleted everything and I'm about to start over. What do I need to do to get all my photos and videos in order on my apps? This switch has been a headache for sure. Bought new phone, old sim card didn't work, bought new sim card, decided I don't want new phone anymore, and wondering if I need to buy another new sim card for phone I will get next. So just bought a moto g power unlocked from Amazon. First time buying a phone online. Old phone was Samsung j3 emerge from boost mobile. I thought I did thorough research on the topic online beforehand. I wanted to know if I could take the sim card from my j3 and put it into the moto and use it straight away, and most sites said yes, as long as the sim was the same type (nano, micro, etc). But then I tried that and it didn't work. Tried going to boost mobile website to activate/switch it, but the website said the phone was ineligible or something. Did some more googling and saw a few results about how the moto g power needed a special kind of sim that could only be gotten from Sprint stores, which I thought was strange. Either way I went to my boost mobile store and I paid $10 just for the sim, it would've been $40 for activation. They saved me some money and told me to call 611 to activate the phone at home, which... I haven't done yet. I decided I actually don't like the phone and am sending it back to Amazon. But one thing I'm still confused about, and I'm kinda still thinking of calling the number to activate the phone just to see what happens. But, that whole process goes against all what I read online. Every article just kept saying all you needed was to switch sim cards, none mentioned anything about having to call a company to activate it. I'm starting to think the store clerk thought maybe I was a new customer who wasn't associated with boost, some rando who just needed a sim card for their new phone. And also wondering, since I'm planning on sending the moto back, will I need to purchase ANOTHER new sim card for whatever phone I get instead? [link] [comments]  |
