Your smartphone history as of 1/11/21? Posted: 11 Jan 2021 07:48 AM PST I'm curious what all you guys had over the years. Here is mine:
So yeah I've went back and forth with Apple a few times, but I'm fully on team Android now forever unless another iPhone is something crazy. The Note 20 Ultra 5G is the best phone I've ever owned. [link] [comments]
(Discussion) Android problems of lack of long-term software update and support Posted: 11 Jan 2021 06:15 PM PST This might trigger some people but all I'm saying is a fact, and with my thoughts on it. I hope everyone can respect this post and share your opinion on it. [Sorry for my English, it's not my forte] I think the lack of software updates on Android phones is the main reason they always gonna be behind compared to iPhones. First of all, I just want to say I love androids, I always have and always be. But let's be real with ourselves, manufacturers these days have been getting too lazy and complacent with the lack of software updates, and I'm saying to dislike this trend. They are absolutely dealing with bad faith especially with their consumers. They know that software updates won't affect their sales to casual users that don't know about tech while the enthusiast can just change their own custom ROM. I mean I don't especially care if you buy any midrange phones and get just 2 years of software updates, but my $1000 Note 9 did not get Android 11, what a joke. The thing is, devices nowadays are really good. There's literally nothing about Note 9 that is obsolete, the camera is still good, the screen and speaker is absolutely fantastic. You literally don't need to buy a new device anymore to get the latest and greatest unlike in the old days. I want to buy flagship devices that warrant longevity up to 4 - 5 years at the very least. Yes, I know that my devices won't suddenly become a brick but that's the issue here, even Linus has talked about this neglection on a perfectly usable smartphone in case someone would say that devices would still run fine. I'm not including security updates in the mix here, what I mean is MAJOR OS update. An iPhone 6s is still going to be getting its 7 years of OS update while Note 10 final major update is the upcoming Android 11. A 2015 devices are on the same level of support as a 2020 devices. That is just plain embarrassing. Now, I have been flashing custom ROM and custom kernel for many years at this point (9 years to be exact {Note 2 days}) but last month, I realize that what am I doing with all these, the company should be doing this instead of me. And I think many people can relate to my frustrations unlike many people here on Reddit who talk big about flashing custom ROM but probably never done one. It is so tedious and definitely more tedious than just pressing updates on a phone. To anyone who never knew how flashing works, the problem is when you want to update to a new updates os, you have to factory reset the devices for it to be a complete install because a dirty flash is a disaster bound to happen. Everyone knows that backing up and putting the item back to it's specific folder and then logging in to every apps is such a hassle. You also lose support of the original image processing of the stock camera and stuck with open camera which is just plain sucks. The people at the community is telling this is all this fairy tale that everything works the same but it's simply not. Especially during modern days where Night Mode, software stabilization is an integral part to the camera performance. Yes I know that you can flash the oem camera back, like i said, unlike 80% people here. I'm a veteran, but you know it's not the same. Plus it's buggy You might think that these won't affect anyone whatsoever, but the reality is. IT IS. See, the reason an iPhone maintained high resell value is because it is still supported and everyone knows about this fact. My Note 9 at the used market is worth less than an iPhone 7 and rightfully so. Rarely do you see people nowadays rocking a Note 7, and I don't mean around forum or in Reddit post, I mean normal everyday people. The thing that pisses me off is that an S8 and OnePlus 5T is still a great smartphone. Software updates breath new life to a devices, especially that most people don't realise that their updates are automatically being done in the background while people are sleeping. My wife iPhone 6s stills runs like a champ after replacing its battery. Now, if anyone wants to say if you care so much about software updates, why don't you just buy midrange devices every 2 year. Unfortunately, this is not a solution. I love good hardware, and any midrange devices camera are nowhere near the performance of a flagship. Hell, even midrange Snapdragon in 2020 still can't beat the performance of Snapdragon 845. Plus good luck trying to sell Redmi Note 9 after two years, see if anyone would buy it. In the end I'm still netting with loss compared to iPhone in terms of invesetment. I'm starting to feel like Androids are for the rich people as time goes by... I love Androids and it's still have a soft spot for my heart. I'm currently using an iPhone 11 and Note 9 as my secondary because I still have so much sentimental connection with Android, I love the customization but even that stills can't hold a candle to the support of the devices. I hope people don't hate me or banned me for switching to iPhone. [link] [comments]

Razer Kishi Gaming Bundle on sale at Walmart ($49.00, not all Walmarts participating in the sale) Posted: 11 Jan 2021 02:04 AM PST Like the title says, I saw this weekend at Walmart that Razer Kishi + Razer TWS headphones were on sale at my local Walmart. If you need a quality controller for your Android phone, the price is very nice for the bundle. Also, it's a in store only type of deal, can not order online at the same price. Key notes: Local pick up only and that some Walmart locations are not participating in the sale. [link] [comments]
