I'm feeling really stressed about this right now. A few hours ago I noticed that my Pixel 2 was giving me a silent alert saying USB file transfer is in use. The trouble is the phone wasn't connected and hasn't been since several hours ago. I'm used to the message coming up when I am connected to my computer but I don't think I should see this when I am not connected. When I click on the notification it brings up the relevant settings page but everything is grayed out. What's more worrying is that WHEN I TURN OFF WI-FI and MOBILE DATA the silent alert goes away. I've tried restarting the phone and that does not change anything. Am I being hacked? Is my data being stolen? How do I tell? I only install things from the google play store and only ones which have a lot of users. Any help or advice appreciated. Thanks! [link] [comments]  |

I recently got a Samsung S20 FE the other day and I noticed that turning off mobile data does not cause the 4G or H+ icons to go away like it does on my other phones. It goes away on Wifi though. Is this behavior normal? Also when I do turn on mobile data, my phone does not automatically reconnect and I have to toggle Airplane Mode on and off before I regain internet connectivity [link] [comments]  |

| Google Assistant recurring reminders not working correctly, google sets them as wrong date! Posted: 20 Jan 2021 07:17 AM PST Heads up. When you set a google assistant reminder to repeat once per year (recurring), it puts it in as the wrong month! Huge bug, and potentially disastrous if you need to remember something important. It's doing this on me and 3 family members' phones, though we all have Samsung phones. It's doing it on both Android 10 and 11. Can anyone else confirm?
Are you getting the same problem? Maybe it only happens on Samsung phones? Idk. Google needs to fix this, but as usual with big tech companies, there's no apparent way to contact them about this. [link] [comments]  |

The team told me to either reflash the phone or to root it, so I chose the hard factory reset (vol up + power on). But first app I reinstalled was the anti-virus and it keeps saying that infected files cannot be quarantined... The Kingroot app didn't work neither. Is there anything else I can do? | Posted: 20 Jan 2021 07:06 PM PST My samsung phone started having an issue with voice calls. I cannot hear the other person properly and they cannot hear me properly either. I took my phone to my provider and they suggested I restart my phone. I tried it and to my relief it worked! Here comes the problem - it started happening again. I tried restarting again and it worked! But this cycle keeps happening and it seems to be getting more frequent. It used to be at least a few days before I'd have to restart, now it seems I have to every day. Though the restart technically works, I'm dying for a more permanent fix and am worried I will possibly get left unable to make intelligible voice calls. Any advice you have would be great. The phone is pretty new, just over a year old, so I'm gonna be unhappy if I have to replace it already. Thanks [link] [comments]  |
| Texting app with BOTH MMS renaming and categories Posted: 20 Jan 2021 08:39 AM PST I've really enjoyed the categories that the native Android messaging app has added, but I have a lot of group chats with a lot of the same people in them. This gets confusing quickly since I can't rename the groups and they're all just strings of names. I'm using Textra now because it lets me rename groups, but I miss the categories as they let me separate family, friends, and school chats. Is there any app that has both of these features? Posted: 20 Jan 2021 05:40 PM PST Hi folks, I'd appreciate it if someone could help me figure out how to get an app to start running its services after the phone restarts. I installed Prey Project on my device. After launching it manually, I get a notification in the drawer that the service is running; after I reboot the phone, however, that notification never reappears until the app is manually launched. I tried downloading AutoStart and OnStart on the device to force the app to run, without luck. I also tried to write a flow in Automate - the flow worked, but Automate didn't come back after startup either. I disabled "optimizing battery usage" on Prey, which also didn't solve the problem. At this point, I'm thinking it's some phone-specific optimization, but I'm not sure how to track it down, or what else I might be able to do in order to get Prey to run after startup. Ideas? | Youtube Showing on Lock Screen, How Do I Disable it? Posted: 20 Jan 2021 04:20 PM PST I'm using a Note 10+. When I shut my screen off or lock my phone with a YouTube video playing, a notification appears on the lockscreen the next time I turn the screen on. If I turn my screen off again without unlocking it, the notification disappears. If the video is paused when I shut off my screen, the notification does not appear. The notification features a play button, forward/backward buttons, and the title of the video. None of them are functional. I have to unlock my phone to view or hear the video. I searched lock screen settings and YouTube settings and disabled everything related to notifications and drawing over other apps that I could find. Nothing fixed it. Notifications on my lock screen annoy me, and this one is non-functional to boot, so I want it gone. Unfortunately, I couldn't find any option to disable it, and given that it doesn't function and only occurs in very specific circumstances, I think it's probably a bug. Gallery/pictures Posted: 20 Jan 2021 04:20 PM PST So my phone updated recently and along with the update my phone now sends "link sharing" whenever sharing photos the the messages app. I used to be able to click on the photos option, attach a photo and send it - but now it sends a link. You have to click the link, then click on the photo and wait for it to load. Not just a click and see thing. This might sound dumb but I'm super not into solving or figuring out shit like this. I just want to be able to send a photo and the person not have to go through 2 or 3 different steps. Plus - the link isn't even fucking working anymore. So now I have to send photos another way. | Posted: 20 Jan 2021 12:05 AM PST Hey guys, I have a redmi note 4 and I use Es File Explorer in it. Now I had been using that "hide" feature inside this app to hide a folder which contained some pictures that I didn't want to be visible inside the gallery, it worked pretty well but it had a few problems, so I decided to download a "vault" application for this stuff. Now I unhid that the folder which contained all those images and I saw that it was named ".other" Now if you're familiar with this, you must know that any file with a dot before it's name appears hidden (e.g : ".feezeey" will be hidden) so I removed the dot from the name. This messed things up and somehow changed the extension of the folder to something I don't know, and now I can't open the folder at all. Its basically busted and I don't know how to open it, but it contains a lot of pictures of my friends and family that I really want to recover. If anyone knows how to fix this please help me. | Pixel 5 Accelerometer Calibration Posted: 20 Jan 2021 02:48 PM PST Just picked up a Pixel 5 on Verizon and noticed that the accelerometer doesn't read level when the phone is in fact level. It is off by about 1.5 degrees. Noticed it in the camera app and the Sky Map app. I've had the phone for nearly two weeks to see if it would calibrate itself to no avail.
