Portrait mode on phones vs zoom cameras Posted: 30 Dec 2020 12:50 PM PST This race for crazy zoom on phones is pretty ridiculous, don't you think? How often do you use that much zoom on your phones , as compared to taking portraits? Telephoto lenses are supposed to be used for portraits because they don't distort the face that much. That's why 85mm is preferred by professional photographers. And to achieve that we only need 2X or 3X telephoto lenses. If you pair a 2x or 3x telephoto lens with a widest aperture you can get and a big sensor, you can get insane portrait shots that would have a natural background blur without needing software f*ckery. I don't know why phone companies don't do something like this, Instead of putting useless 50x and 100x zoom lenses. [link] [comments] |
