    I've purchased a Xiaomi Mi 10 8GB/256GB, I'm so excited!

    Hello Xiaomi fans,

I've just ordered my first Xiaomi phone. I paid 522€ ($623) for the Mi 10 8GB/256GB.

This same phone cost was 899€ ($1.073) when it was first released so I guess I got a pretty good deal for the device.

The only thing I'm worried is the length, I hope the 6'67" screen doesn't feel too big.

People who already own the Mi 10, I would love to hear from you! Have you enjoyed it so far?

People who already own Xiaomis, anything I should know before becoming a Xiaomi user?

Thanks for reading. Have a great day!

How to disable Security screen whenever I download an app?

    Posted: 01 Sep 2020 09:32 PM PDT

I have a redmi note 8 pro, and I wanted to know if there's is a way to disable this thing that whenever I download an app, it takes me to a security screen where I can open the app or just close that window but I don't want that to happen every time I download an app cause it's an annoying if I'm doing some else. Maybe I'm just way too entitled and can't handle two seconds being taken out of my time :P Does anyone know about this?

Is there any way to flash a global or eu ROM into a chinese mi 8 without bricking it?

    Posted: 01 Sep 2020 09:16 PM PDT

    Hi all,

A year or so ago I somehow bricked my Mi 8 that I bought from aliexpress, the seller brought it back to life using the EDL method but installed a chinese version of MIUI (I know this because I saw when the ROM was being installed, also there are a lot of chinese apps and sometimes even ads).

This was not a problem until recently that I noticed that MIUI behaves in a strange way (e.g. I don't receive whatsapp notifications until I enter the app, can't use Android Pay, etc).

I wanted to try another ROM like a global one or even an eu version, but I don't want to brick my phone again and lose it forever.

Is there any procedure I can follow to make this easier?

    Thanks a lot!

Does google camera work better on Redmit Note 9S than Redmi Note 8 Pro?

    Posted: 01 Sep 2020 01:17 PM PDT

So i'm trying to decide between Redmi Note 9s and Note 8 Pro.

I saw the reviews say the Note 8 pro had a better image sensor and camera and pictures came out better in the stock camera app. However I know Gcam can change things. I would think Gcam would work better on a Snapdragon phone than the Note 8 Pro's Mediatek processor, but I don't know how well the Gcam Mediatek port works. Anyone have experience with this?

Any AX3600 router owners can confirm this?

    Posted: 01 Sep 2020 06:38 PM PDT

    Hi,

I'm considering to buy an AX3600 router to use as an access point. Basically, I want to use WDS or other functionality to have the AX3600 connect to to main router via WiFi 6 and then provide LAN ports for some devices in a separate room.

I've been searching all over and can't find specific mention of WDS but the router does seem to offer access point and bridge modes. Is this only via LAN or also possible via Wifi?

    Thanks!

Redmi Note 9 PDANet tethering problems, looking for help

    Posted: 01 Sep 2020 06:25 PM PDT

I just got a new Note 9 after having a Mi A1 for a couple years and using it for tethering with PDANet without any problems. But I just can't get it to work with the Redmi 9. My PC struggles to connect, if it does at all, and when it does it doesn't last more than 10 seconds before disconnecting. I tried both 2.4 and 5Ghz bands and checking the settings so there are no battery saving options for PDANet but it still doesn't work. Is the phone just incompatible with PDANet? If I want to get another Xiami with tethering as a priority, what do you recommend?

Does the AX1800 work with fibre optic broadband?

    Posted: 01 Sep 2020 05:41 PM PDT

I have Vodafone Gigabit Broadband in Ireland that is FTTH, and the standard ISP router they provide isn't terribly great. I was looking at the AX1800 on AliExpress which looked pretty good, but I want to know wether it works with FTTH.

    Thanks!

(Also I'm seeing some posts about the firmware not being in English. Is this still the case or is there English?)

A sort of issue where android system starts to take more than 80% battery usage?

    Posted: 01 Sep 2020 05:36 PM PDT

I don't know why but when I check battery stats it seems that Android System is using like 80-96% battery and I don't know how to reset it or make it less.

It's not apps auto-starting since I have disabled all apps from auto-start except system apps. Is it some sort of bug where pressing square and dragging open apps left and right doesn't close them or something similar.

I only used default wallpaper so it's not that.

If Xiaomi could add some sort of feature to clean that Android System App Battery usage maybe by closing all the apps and removing all retained data from RAM to reduce it from say 80-96% to like 50% or less. It would be great addition.

I noticed some sort of idle battery drain back then and mainly it was just android system taking lot's of battery. With MIUI 12 it has been reduced greatly but still if a feature like that can be added. Like click it to close all opened apps and reduce Android System App Battery usage down that would be great.

When I was on MIUI 11 I saw that Android System App was taking like 96% battery and my phone discharged from 100 to 0 in like 3-4ish hours. So hoping if there would be some way to just reduce that. With MIUI 12 it has been reduced to 69% and phone's battery lasts 6-7 hours way it was intended.

    Mijia projector youth edition 1

    Posted: 01 Sep 2020 04:33 PM PDT

    Dear all,

I just bought this project from China, and not from Hong-Kong.

It does not connect to my home wi-fi but it does connect to my android hotspot, with both WPA2-PSK AES, so I am not sure why?

It does connect to my home wi-fi if there is no security, but of course, not something I will keep.

Also, it seems Hong-Kong version has Google play store, which I don't.

Is there a way to change the firmware to get the Hong-Kong software?

Thanks for help, because as it is, I am amazed by the quality but so disappointed by the usage

Redmi Note 7 volume and power button issues

    Posted: 01 Sep 2020 03:48 PM PDT

The phone started randomly changing the volume by itself, it randomly goes up and down and i cant stop it, volume up button stopped working and seems to be jammed...? I'll rephrase that, from the outside all the buttons look completely normal and healthy but when i press the volume up button nothing happens, when i press the volume down button - it works but not always, usually the volume goes back up anyway. When this happens I cant turn the screen off, as the power button stops working. When the volume isn't changing by itself the power button might work, depends on luck. Is there any way I can fix this, or should i take the phone to a xiaomi technician?

[HELP NEEDED] Mi Mix 2S - strange behaviour

    Posted: 01 Sep 2020 01:44 PM PDT

Hello Community, I need your help.

A few days ago my Mi Mix 2S fell out of my bag while cycling. Since then it has been going off at the slightest vibration and then didn't turn on for a few hours. When I was able to turn it on again, it no longer had the original 80% battery charge before it went off but only 2% battery charge - sometimes a little more sometimes a little less.

Since Saturday, when my Mi Mix 2S fell out of my bed, it no longer turns on at all. Even if it hung the whole night at the current.

So I ordered a new battery and installed it directly. (I already know the Mi Mix 2S interior very well, because I already changed the whole display unit). Unfortunately also here no success. The cell phone is dead.

    2 questions:

    1. what can still be the mistake here? I would be happy to repair it so I can use it as a spare smartphone.

    2. how can I recover my data from a dead cell phone?

    Thanx!
