Why does Android show previous notifications from an app in new notification dialog?

    Posted: 01 Sep 2020 02:46 PM PDT

New to Android after lifelong iPhone use. Getting used to everything little by little but one thing that won't stop bugging me is the new notification dialog while using the phone. It will show the new notification as well as the previous unread notification from the same app. This boggles my mind - the important info in that dialog should be what is being received now and not what was unread it's distracting and confusing. Been looking for a setting or tweak to change this to no avail. How do you all deal with this??

My alarm hasn't gone off in the morning twice but it's activated for all weekdays

    Posted: 01 Sep 2020 05:17 AM PDT

I, like many others use my phone as an alarm to wake up to in the morning. Last week on Thursday, my alarm didn't go off in the morning. It almost made me late. This morning it happened again, but thankfully I naturally woke up 10 minutes after it was supposed to go off. It seems my alarms are occasionally not going off, so if there's a fix for this please let me know.

    What causes the loading issue?

    Posted: 01 Sep 2020 09:21 PM PDT

I want to play a game but the game gets stuck at loading and it isn't letting me enter it. My internet connection is fine, can use other social media apps.

What is the issue and what can be done to prevent it from happening?

[Newbie] What Happens When Choosing a Factory Reset on a Custom ROM?

    Posted: 01 Sep 2020 03:23 PM PDT

I did the Root-n-ROM thing years back, and haven't thought about it since. It's an HTC, so I didn't need to know much of anything, it was so easy. I still don't know much of anything about phones, so my question is, if I boot to the loader and pick a hard-reset or whatever it's called, what does it load?

My guess is that the custom ROM overwrites the factory ROM image, so my ROM is factory-resetting itself, NOT the phone picking the original factory ROM and loading that, forcing me to rebuild again. Is this correct?

Need some help here.. (Huawei Nova 5t)

    Posted: 01 Sep 2020 05:13 PM PDT

So I got my Nova 5t last year at around launch. The phone has been amazing so far, with the flagship-like specs at a fraction of the price.

However recently, I realised that my particular phone will not be able to get the Android 10 update (I believe my phone's country of origin is the US, which might explain why other Nova 5ts have got the update but not mine).

So my questions are, 1) How long more would Android 9 stay viable?

    2) Is there any workaround to get Android 10 in some other manner?

    3) Should I be moving away from Huawei at this point? And if so, what phones should I be looking at? (was eyeing the Pixel 4a)

Does anyone know if there are any custom ROMs(official or unofficial) available for the Kyocera DuraForce Pro 2?

    Posted: 01 Sep 2020 02:11 PM PDT

Or at least a way for me to search custom ROMs by device? I realize this device isn't popular at all but I'm hoping there's at least a few out there :) Thanks

New app download in old phone

    Posted: 01 Sep 2020 01:56 PM PDT

I have a old LG G3 with Android 5.0.3. I want to download some apps there to make the phone useful, but some apps do not show in the play store. Looks like I cannot upgrade the phone higher than android 5 either. I could download some of these apps a year ago. How can I download these apps where they require newer android version to my old phone.

When i return magazines on rbdigital it doesn't remove the magazine from internal files.

    Posted: 01 Sep 2020 01:29 PM PDT

This is taking up a lot of room on my phone. For instance i checked out 3 issues of a magazine. I returned them using the app, but they are currently taking up 666 mb on my phone. I can find the particular magazines under internal files/android/data/com.ocd/files/.resources/magazines/3490. How do i get rid of this stuff. If i try manually deleting the pdf images then if i try to check out the magazine again i can't view it.

WiFi connects, is fine for a few hours, then just stops working.

    Posted: 01 Sep 2020 05:50 PM PDT

    Phone: SAMSUNG J3 (SM-J327T) (Yeah it's old I know)

    Android Version: 7.0

    Carrier: T-Maybe

ISP: Comcast (With my own cable modem)

Issue: WiFi will connect sometimes first try when I get home from work. Usually I'll get the wifi error exclamation point on top of the phone. Sometimes the exclamation point means I have no connection at all, but sometimes it means I can't connect to certain apps. For example, sometimes I can get on the reddit app just fine but I can't check my bank. Or vice versa.

If I get the WiFi to work, generally after restarting my phone, it works fine for a few hours and then will stop responding. Pages won't load. Messages won't send/receive. No exclamation point. No error messages, just won't be able to do anything that requires internet or cell service.

When it does this, no troubleshooting step fixes it unless I turn off the wifi completely to use data or restart the phone. If I try to turn wifi off and on or airplane mode, I'll end up with the exclamation point and won't be able to do anything. Rarely it will connect without the exclamation point, but the phone still doesn't react to having a connection. It's getting quite irritating.

What I've done to try to fix it either temporarily or permanently:

    Airplane mode off and on

    Wifi off and on

Forgetting the network and re-adding it

Forgetting the network from my wireless network history completely and re-adding it

    Swearing

    Resetting my modem

    Using a static IP

    Clearing caches

Googling the answer to only come up with advice like "reset ur phone doofus" over and over again

Resetting my phone like a doofus

Trying software updates (there hasn't been one in a long time for my dinosaur phone)

    Changing DNS servers

Resetting my winsocks and ipconfigs on my main computer

Using developer tools and selecting aggressive wifi handover (this does nothing)

Using smart network switch (this does nothing)

    Turning off smart network switch

Ignoring it and hoping it would magically fix itself.

This has been going on for months now and I'd just like the wifi to connect without me having to reset my phone. And once the wifi connects, I would like it to stay connected. Like how a normal phone should work.

Thanks in advance for any assistance or advice.

Is GameGuardian safe? How do I know? Is the risk worth taking?

    Posted: 01 Sep 2020 05:02 PM PDT

I have a xiaomi redmi note 7 android phone, and I've tried to download this app, but... I've read dozens of posts saying that GameGuardian is completely safe and that the phone's antivirus calls it a virus because it's a hacking app, but I want to be 100% sure. Please tell me if it's safe or not, and I would like to get proof from a GameGuardian user that has the app downloaded into their phone for quite some time. Is the risk worth taking? Thank you all so much for reading, have a nice day!

    phone keeps rebooting

    Posted: 01 Sep 2020 08:31 AM PDT

Hi, I recently managed to root my Samsung Galaxy A3 2016 (SM-A310F) and decided to install /e/ OS onto it. when the WiFi is off, it works perfectly, no glitches, bugs, etc, however, when I turn WiFi on and try to connect, it freezes, shuts itself off and keeps doing that every time it connects to WiFi. I was on Lineage OS 16 before, and I know they pre-warn that it can brick the device, however, my phone isn't actually bricked, it just reboots once it connects to WiFi. I have tried reinstalling the OS multiple times, but that doesn't seem to work. The android version it's currently on is 8.1 oreo. if anyone has any ideas on how to fix this, please let me know.

    Vibrate keeps turning off

    Posted: 01 Sep 2020 11:45 AM PDT

I keep my phone on vibrate pretty much all of the time. As of a month ago, I started noticing that my sound would randomly reactivate and I would get sound notifications. It seemed only once in a blue moon but now it's several times a day that I put my phone back on vibrate only to get sound notifications and see that the ringer/sound is turned back on.

Any ideas where to look for help on this?

I've got a Samsung Galaxy S10+, running Android 10 on Verizon. I've restarted the phone several times. I haven't installed any new apps in this period of time. However, apps update all the time on their own so I'm not sure if that has an effect.

My problem is I want to have computer (over USB to phone) and tablet (over wi-fi / hotspot to phone) to be in one LAN, because they doesn't seem to be when they're connected like that.

Does anyone know how to easily solve this problem?
