SkyDroid: Decentralized App Store for Android Posted: 29 Sep 2020 07:58 AM PDT SkyDroid is an open-source domain-based App Store, which means that an app is available on a specific domain. For example the SkyDroid app itself is available on the domain There's also rich metadata support, screenshots, multi-language support, multiple themes, search, categories and more. The latest F-Droid apps are already available on SkyDroid through a bridge as well as some apps which are directly published. Quick Start

Looking for an alternative to the late, great Timely Posted: 29 Sep 2020 06:34 AM PDT I've found other clock/alarm/timer apps that include challenges and slowly increasing volume for gentle wakeups, but the feature I LOVED most about Timely was the constantly decreasing snooze feature. Has anyone seen an app that replicates that particular gem? Thanks! [link] [comments] |
Posted: 29 Sep 2020 08:16 AM PDT Hey guys I wanted to come on here and share my app I'm currently developing. The app is called Telegraph and as the title suggests, it's a Morse Code chat/practice app. The reason I'm putting this post in r/androidapps is because I need some volunteers to help test the chat functionality of the app. For anyone that would like to help me test it, I'll be in the "TelegraphMain" chat room in the app. I put an Easter egg in the app that removes the ads specifically for those who want to help. Once you are in a chat room, tap the icon that shows the amount of users in each room on the bottom right 8 times and reload the app. I hope the app encourages people to learn Morse code and gives people a unique way to chat with their friends. We have a discord as well for anyone that wants to follow along with development. Thank you guys! I'll put a link to the store page in the comments. [link] [comments] |

How do you receive alerts when a specific app has a price drop? Posted: 29 Sep 2020 09:15 AM PDT |
Posted: 29 Sep 2020 12:06 PM PDT Hello, It looks like Android10 now natively supports many of the "mainstream" controllers (such as Xbox, DualShock, and Nintendo Switch Pro). I tried connecting my Nintendo Switch Pro controller to my Galaxy Note 10+ via bluetooth, and it seems to have connected! :D I was wondering whether there are any apps that would help me remap certain controller buttons to specific coordinates on my screen-- in order to use the controller with mobile games that have a slightly different layout. Other subreddit threads and forums seem to talk about outdates apps, so I thought I should ask on a new thread :) Thanks for reading 😊 [link] [comments] |

Looking for easy diary / note app with export Posted: 29 Sep 2020 07:31 AM PDT Hi, I need to start taking notes in a diary format, need to just hit a button, type in a thing and save, and have it date stamped and able to be exported as an evidentiary document or such. Extra points for multiple people being able to use it on different devices! [link] [comments] |
What are your favourite security apps? Posted: 29 Sep 2020 01:20 AM PDT Since privacy online is really widely discussed and important nowadays, I thought it will be relevant both for me and others to discuss and share what kind of apps and extensions you are using for this purpose. For example, I use Privacy Badger, NordPass for password manager, Https everywhere and ccleaner. It's not much so maybe you have some recommendations what else would be helpful? [link] [comments] |

ML + RFID to Read and verify the embedded chip in passports. Looking for Testers Posted: 29 Sep 2020 09:34 AM PDT I created an app that can read and verify the personal data on passports using the secure chip embedded inside. The app works by first using the camera to scan the passport's data page, a step that is needed because the key used for reading the embedded chip is constructed out of the visible printed passport data. Then it will read and verify the embedded chip and display the extracted information. Here is a 30 second demo: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VTdpOcG1NSw I am looking for users/testers with different passports to try it out. I wanted to see if my weekend hackathon project actually works or if it is only my passport and my friends that works. Feel free to use an invalid passport and/or use the app on airplane mode so that you feel comfortable. The app is available for both iOS and Android and requires an NFC-enabled device (most modern Android devices and all iPhones starting with the iPhone 7 are NFC-enabled). You will also need a biometric passport (sometimes called electronic passport) that you can read. Most modern passports issued today are biometric passports, and you can verify this by looking for a microchip icon usually printed on the passport cover. https://apps.apple.com/us/app/biometric-passport-reader/id1510585886 https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=app.iris [link] [comments] |

Any reddit alternatives that have swipe to hide topics? Posted: 29 Sep 2020 08:12 AM PDT I keep downloading reddit alternatives and can't find the only feature I really care about. I'm subbed to a lot of different places and usually browse by top past 24 hours. As I'm reading pretty preqhebtlu this ends up showing a LOT of duplication. In the official app, you have to hit the menu, wait for it to load, hit hide, then wait doe it to hide it and truncate the list. I hate it..is there a better alternative app to do this lol [link] [comments] |

Looking for an app that will increase the size of a pic so it prints across several pages Posted: 29 Sep 2020 07:49 AM PDT Android 10 Printer: HP 3050 I'm making stained glass patterns. So I'm taking a standard size pic and blowing it up to larger than a single page then taping them together I have the free version of a photo editor that I really like to use. If I can get it to blow up a pic then I'll buy the pro version Here's the app that I have. Or if another app will do the trick then I'll try that one https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=photo.editor.photoeditor.photoeditorpro Thanks! [link] [comments] |

FREE alternative to dropbox for android 5? Posted: 29 Sep 2020 07:17 AM PDT my mobile usb port is broken, thus i used dropbox to share files and images with my computer but sadly dropbox is no longer supported , i need an alternative that works in similar fashion and i mean just like dropbox, quick and simply share images between my computer and mobile phone, unlike all virtual drives i tried that are slow, complicated and dont integrate with my mobile properly i hate google drive, it is painstakingly slow and counterintuitive, more often then not i cant download my files an images quickly, and also has that awful zip function for multiple files thanks!
