Posted: 28 Sep 2020 12:43 PM PDT Hello, I'm a first time laptop user, always been on pc or console. I've got a HP 15s-fq0017na and it's perfect for what I need, mainly uni work and light gaming (runescape WoW) but I only have a 128g SSD and wanted to know if anyone had any tips and tricks on upgrading laptops thanks for any help! Posted: 28 Sep 2020 12:32 PM PDT i got a brand new acer nitro 5 with rtx 2060 and intel core i7 9750h 9th gen and when i play minecraft its very good but it wont go above 144 fps? its 144hz screen and the fps limit on minecraft is unlimited and it just stays at 144 consistently and im thinking that if it does that then it can go above it, but theres just a random limit somewhere i cant see. so minecraft fps limit is unlimited but fps wont go above 144, and im pretty sure it can run higher fps [link] [comments]
Dell XPS or Inspiron for college? Posted: 28 Sep 2020 08:36 AM PDT So it's buying time for college, and I see a lot of conflicting opinions on Inspiron vs XPS. It seems like XPS is generally more loved, but similar spec models of each make it seem like the XPS is a bit overpriced compared to the Inspiron. I will not be using the laptop for any games, demanding graphics software, etc. I really only need it for research/storing data, which makes me think the Inspiron will be fine. What do you think some pros/cons are for each, and do you think the Inspiron will be good enough for primarily data-logging and reading papers? Thanks for any opinions given :). Laptop slows down a while after windows reinstall Posted: 28 Sep 2020 05:24 AM PDT Hey everyone. I have Lenovo y520 with gtx1050m, 16gb ram and 2.8ghz. A while ago i decided to reinstall windows since laptop was slowed down too much. This is the first time i reinstalled windows by myself and after that laptop become much faster. I mainly play rainbow6 and did the benchmark with high graphic settings. Results were awesome straight 60fps (vsyinc on) and played smoothly that day. But one day after i re opened the game and graphic performance dropped to 30'ish fps. Benchmark results were awful. Laptop gets faster after formatting but why 1 day later graphics performance drops down? Ä°nstalled programs are only graphic driver, brave browser, lenovo nerve sense and steam. Asus TUF vs MSI GF63 what should I buy? Posted: 28 Sep 2020 11:10 AM PDT Can't decide between these two. These are the only laptops that are in the range I can afford in my country and that provides the specs I need. Would like to know your opinions or if there are any alternatives. Acer was one of my options but I see many bad reviews about it. I need the laptop to last at least 4-5 years MSI is lite weighted. That's one plus point ASUS TUF Gaming FX505GT Intel i5 with GTX1650 LKR 175,000 =USD 945.06 MSI GF63 Thin 9SCXR i5 with GTX 1650 LKR 182,000 =USD 982.86 [link] [comments]

Should I trade my 2017 13 inch MacBook pro for a 15 inch 2018 dell XPS? Posted: 28 Sep 2020 06:19 AM PDT I was wondering, would it be worth it to do an even exchange for my 2017 13 inch i5 MacBook pro 256gb SSD 8gb DDR3, for a 2018 Dell XPS 15 inch, i7 1tbSSD and 32gb ddr4 ram. I use both operating systems equally so I don't have much preference. I'm just asking cause they are priced used very similarly. Thanks! [link] [comments]
Dell latitude or dell Inspiron ? Which is better? Posted: 28 Sep 2020 09:57 AM PDT Hi guys I have two dell 2in1 laptop/tablets, I do not need two so I'm going to sell one of them. I was hoping that some of you could help me out and let me know what the differences are and which one is better than the other as well as how much they sell for retail and how much I should sell for! So I have a Dell Latitude 7389 and a Dell Inspiron 13 - 7000 series The Latitude seems to be a tad bit smaller but also seems to maybe be a bit newer and something about it just seems to be better I'm not sure if it's just because it's smaller and has a more sleek look or what!? Lol Thank you In advance for any and all help! [link] [comments]
Laptop for Digital Marleting/PPC? Posted: 28 Sep 2020 09:30 AM PDT As title says, I'm looking for a Laptop for a Digital Marketing job. I do PPC (Google Ads, FB, etc.), so running tons of excel, tons of chrome tabs for multiple client websites, competitor websites, etc., then photoshop and lightroom for display ad creation, tons of documents and ppt presentations, and portable for client meetings. I'm thinking of Base model MBP 13" 2020. 256SSD, 8GB RAM but not sure if it's enough. Especially in Excel and Chrome (not a tech head so not sure if I should go for more RAM or Higher CPU cores) then storage for those PSD files. I know it's better to just go for a custom build pc but I need it to be portable. My other option is Asus G14 (but it's kinda weird to pull a gaming laptop in client meeting), or Base Dell XPS 13. Looking to buy a modest Gaming Laptop to replace my old school laptop. Posted: 28 Sep 2020 09:24 AM PDT So I have my 7 year old Dell Laptop that I bought for college that has treated me well, but it's been on its way out for a while now. Super long loading times, random crashes, etc. I only primarily use it for music and picture storage, writing here and there, and sometimes a simple Steam Game. But in its later years, even those simple steam games are too much for it handle. Oxygen Not Included and the Five Night at Freddys are the prime examples. The games are unplayable on my old girl. Never mind the one time I tried playing a FPS like Skyrim on it. So I figured a modest gaming laptop would fit my criteria of what I'd like a laptop to be. Plenty of storage, long-lasting and reliable, and could easily handle the few Steam games I intend on playing on it. But I don't know the first thing about gaming laptops. And so when I tried doing my own research about prices and brands, all I found were comparisons of specs and other technical nonsense that I couldn't comprehend. But I was also genuinely surprised to see some new gaming laptops can go for 1400-2000 dollar range, since that is my currently my budget. TLDR; So if anyone can recommend some modest and reliable Gaming laptops under or around 2000 I'd really appreciate it! Thanks, have a great day. [link] [comments]
thinking of buying a refurbished laptop... Posted: 28 Sep 2020 05:31 AM PDT i've been meaning to buy a refurbished hp pavilion laptop (since events throughout the year has caused the price of laptops to increase) but i'm sceptical with the quality and lifespan of their refurbished products. if there is anyone who is willing to share their experience with a refurbished laptop from hp it would be greatly appreciated. Suggest a laptop with great GPU and support Linux under INR 100,000 [India] Posted: 28 Sep 2020 08:44 AM PDT Hello Everyone I am in college this year doing btech in cse. I want to buy a great laptop which has some specs like this RAM: 16 gb (3200mhz as its amd) GPU: minimum 1650ti Fully made of metal. OS: Linux Thunderbolt port will be a great choice but will need to switch to intel for that. Slim and light weight will be good as i need to carry it around a lot. I am preferring 14 inch screen. I want to get into machine learning and robotics but absolutely beginner in machine learning but yes I have tried ROS and made some basic robots. I am having an HP Pavilion Laptop and its a very poor machine its about 8 months old and till now its display and motherboard has been replaced, its also having a very poor hinge which snapped off when one of the service engineer came to inspect the laptop. I want a machine which is reliable and delivers great performance. I want my laptop to last minimum of 5 years. I have seen Zephyrus G14 is a great machine but its having issues while running in Linux. I also searched for T14 its a great laptop but has only iGPU and only intel variant has thunderbolt support. Please suggest me some great laptops. Thank You :) [link] [comments]
can I wipe a windows 8 laptop and install windows 10 on it Posted: 28 Sep 2020 08:39 AM PDT
Posted: 28 Sep 2020 08:26 AM PDT Hi there! I've decided to get a new laptop primarily because I want to swap to windows. I have a 2017 13-inch macbook pro. I've been thinking of this setup: Dell XPS-15 i9-10885H 16GB DDR4 1TB SSD NVIDIA GTX1650Ti then at my desk: eGPU (GTX980Ti) Monitor I also like gaming but only at my desk. My thinking is I'm going to get an eGPU case and plug in my old GTX980Ti I got off a friend. I have an HD Monitor to setup at my desk. My thinking is that the CPU in the Dell is on par with high end desktop CPUs, and then I can have my killer gpu and monitor at home and hey presto I have a really nice (effective) desktop when I plug my laptop in. How easy is it to upgrade the Dell's RAM? Details on future hard drive options? Thanks so much! [link] [comments]
Posted: 28 Sep 2020 08:25 AM PDT I own a Matebook 13 2020 (i7 10510U, mx230, 16GB RAM DD3 2133) and i was wondering if it would be possible to replace the CPU with an i7-1065G7. I know that this one is just slightly better than mine, but I'd like to have a cooler CPU if possible. If you have any other suggestion, I'd gladly hear them out. [link] [comments]
