What's the consensus on Genshin Impact so far?

    Posted: 28 Sep 2020 09:51 AM PDT

    •Update for those interested:

So far, I'd say the reception it's pretty mixed, leaning towards positive. The gatcha is very bad but the gameplay, even if a bit shallow, seems competent for a mobile game. Some have pointed out the game's a bit of a time sink, so we'll see if the gameplay elements hold up once you have to grind.

I guess we'll have more fleshed out opinions once players start hitting paywalls, but this is everything as of today. Also there's no controller support, definetly a deal breaker for most on this sub.

    •Original post:

Ever since it announced everyone's been saying that the game would be great because big = good, but now that it's out and I've seen gameplay it just looks... Like a mobile game.

Has anyone gotten far enough to give a decent first impressions? Are the gatcha elements bad? Is the open world an excuse to make you go from point A to point B or is there a point to it all?

I would play the game myself but some of us are not willing to download +5gb for something that's going to be uninstalled in probably minutes (I'm looking at you, Dragon Raja).

    Recommendation request: yahtzee for multiplayer

    Posted: 28 Sep 2020 09:18 AM PDT

I'm looking for a fairly simple yahtzee game which can set up to only play against my friends lists. I have a sister who is on bed rest for the last three months of her pregnancy, and my wife, brother in law, and I all want to keep games going with her. All the games I've found only allow two people at a time to play, and I'm looking for a game that supports 4 individual users. Any recommendations would be appreciated. Thanks!

Need a new game (apart from Among us and Genshin Impact) where friends or players cooperate with each other to win

    Posted: 28 Sep 2020 10:17 AM PDT

I played Among us, but people got bored. Genshin impact is not compatible with many phones.

So plz any other games where we can cooperate with each other and communicate to win the game? Just need some reason to get united in this pandemic.

[REQUEST] Game for Teen with Disabilities

    Posted: 28 Sep 2020 05:40 PM PDT

    Hello!

I work at a home for kids with developmental disabilities, and I'm always looking for new ways to interact with them. Most of the kids at my home are cognitively about 2 years old (or younger), but my buddy Alex (pseudonym) is 16 and very capable of making his own decisions and communicating (cognitively and physically a teenager). Unfortunately, Alex can't speak and can only communicate by laughing, moving his head and raising his arms. While that is usually enough for me to understand him on a basic level, it really limits the ways we can interact. In the past, we've played a lot of Akinator (basically 20 questions), since it is easy for him to answer yes or no to the game's questions, but that's about it as far as phone games go.

I was hoping you guys might be able to give me some suggestions for games the two of us could try together. Here's what we'd be looking for in a game.

    - no mechanical challenges... Alex can't move his fingers, so I'll be touching the screen. While he'd probably think it was pretty funny to watch me fail at platforming or something, it'd get old fast, and I want him to be the one playing the game.

    - no super mature themes... Alex can definitely handle it, and actually thinks sex jokes are hilarious (he watches a lot of family guy), but we'd likely be playing the game in a public space near other kids... and I don't want to get fired.

-some humor... This isn't a requirement, but it'd be nice. Alex has a pretty great sense of humor. He especially slapstick stuff like jackass and impractical jokers.

-can be played in 15ish minute sessions (or less)... I have a lot to do at work, and while I sometimes get opportunities to hang out with Alex for 30 minutes+ at a time, it'd be nice to have a game or two I could play with him in between jobs.

-involves decision making... (not mandatory) I was thinking maybe some game where I can read options to him and he picks em? I'm not sure what is out there in this genre tho...

Thanks for any suggestions! I'd really appreciate the help. :)

I have a pixel 3a if that matters.

Is connecting a PS4 controller to my phone directly better than through bluetooth?

    Posted: 28 Sep 2020 11:02 PM PDT

    Hello.

I have a question to people who game using a PS4 controller on Android. Are there any benefits to connecting it via cable over just using bluetooth? Is lag lower? Will my phone charge the controller? Etc.

Thank you in advance for answering!

    Genshin Impact: First Impression

    Posted: 28 Sep 2020 09:39 PM PDT

    Genshin Impact: First Impression

I have only played the game for only a few hours, but I am really enjoying it. Here is my First impression of Genshin Impact:

    https://preview.redd.it/6wf4ucqwm0q51.png?width=1280&format=png&auto=webp&s=8a81b795930b9766b2b23efe0d9eeb2378dd034a

    1. Plot: The game starts as a single player in an open world where your character is trapped. You used to travel with your siblings, which you choose at the start of the game. The other one gets taken away, and now you're trying to get them back. You seek the help of the locals but just like in real life; everyone is busy with their stuff. So like a hero in an open world RPG game, you take it upon yourself to save the day.
    2. Cross-Play: You can cross-play between mobile, PC, and PS4. There is also an option to cross-save between PC and mobile if you are someone like me who keeps switching between PC and Smartphones; this is a huge benefit. However, there is no cross-save for PS4, which I really don't care about because I don't have it.
    3. Cross-Regions Problems: If you want to switch the servers, you basically have to start the game from the beginning and if your friends are on different servers, just say goodbye to them. Asia players can play with other Aisa Players only, Europe with Europe, and so on. This is the major down point I have come across in the game so far, and if that is not a dealbreaker for you, you are good to go.
    4. Gameplay: The game starts as a single-player game and evolves into a multiplayer. Your character can roam the entire world, do story missions, side missions. The game mechanics are similar to other similar game like you can climb any surface for as long as you have the stamina, you have a wind glider. The world is filled with activities, be it enemy camps for you to clear, environmental puzzles, challenges, etc. But instead of providing locations for every little activity on the map, the game encourages you to use your own eyes and scout things in the distance.
    5. Monetization: Genshin Impact is one of the most Free-to-play friendly games I have ever seen; that's to say the players who don't want to spend money on it can enjoy the game as much as any other player.
    6. Concluding Remarks: I Love it!

Would a 6.5inch screen be good for adult hands to game with?

    Posted: 28 Sep 2020 06:29 PM PDT

I was thinking about buying the Samsung FE because at best buy you can get them for $549.99 which is super cheap.

I had the Samsung Galaxy S20+ and returned it thinking I wanted a pure android experience. But it seems like these days thats impossible if you want a good CPU in your phone.

Now the Samsung S20 FE is coming out with a 6.5 inch screen. But then the bezels.., etc. I was really wondering is it actually much bigger from the original?

I even thought about just getting the regular Samsung Note20, the regular one from best buy for $749 cause its on sale and has the 865+ and the 6.7 screen. But I am assuming the battery life wont be as good?! I dont know, the cell phone market is getting crazy when trying to find a phone. One thing I realize is its getting harder and harder to find a GOOD flagship pure android phone.

Anyone think Genshin Impact combat is Meh?

    Posted: 28 Sep 2020 02:30 PM PDT

It might be just me, and everyone is saying I gotta get further, but if I have to get further for it to get good then why should I play? I want this games combat to feel as fun as BOTW (they're alike) but I just don't see how ability combos will be fun forever.

Maybe some more options, like block, parry, or heavy(w/ charge) and light(w/charge). Idk maybe I'm just dumb.

[REQUEST] Puzzle game you can easily turn on and off

    Posted: 28 Sep 2020 12:09 AM PDT

Recently I got twins. I often have to stay awake at night or just to be nearby in case they need something. I want something to keep my mind busy but obviously not too deep. I wanted to go casual and try those puzzle games that plagued Android 10 years ago or so, like Cut the Rope but it looks like the genre is dead. The closest thing to puzzle I see are all the match 3 games and Icm not sure I like those. So the request is:

    1) Puzzle game with no requirements for precision, probably relatively casual. I like Desktop Dungeons but that game doesn't work on mobile well - even on my big screen everything is too small and one wrong tap of a shaking finger in a middle of the night can break it all.

    2) Short sessions you can easily stop. I'd play Hearthstone in a casual mode but it's a multiplayer game I can't put off. Desktop Dungeons and similar games have no saves in a middle of a mission. Same for something like Solitarica.

    3) Understandable progression, I guess. A game like Fire Emblem Heroes gives you all the tactical puzzles you might want and the session is short but there's this huge metagame that is very far from casual and lighthearted feel of battles themselves.

    4) Paid would be fine as long as there's demo.

    Thanks for suggestions!

Looking for a good arcade racing game without NOS.

    Posted: 28 Sep 2020 08:31 AM PDT

So i would really like to play a racing game without nitro, cuz i'm kinda tired of it. The game must have drivable cars (so no boat, bike or plane racing games). The races must be at least 3 minutes cuz i hate short races. Prefer no microtransactions, but since so many games have them it will be fine to have them there, as long as they don't impact the experience.

Yeah that's pretty much it. Have any suggestions? Think Need for Speed 3 Hot Pursuit but for mobile, any similar games?

    New to mobile gaming

    Posted: 28 Sep 2020 01:36 PM PDT

Not so long time lurker here but definitel kinda new to mobile gaming, I must thank this sub as it helped me find pure gaming gems. Currently sinking time in Bard's tale (an absolute blast) ended up buying/installing Bad North, Space Marshals, Xenwerk, Game Dev Tycoon, Dead Cells, Atom RPG, Genshin impact, peace death!, Archero, Room 3 and Among us (now breathe!). All installed in a matter of a week lol. Now can you please extend further kindness by guiding me towards a good controller that would fit a note 20 ultra. From the list above, are they all controller compatible? What other games are a must play in your opinion? Thanks

[REQUEST] Looking for a high quality detective game

    Posted: 27 Sep 2020 10:37 PM PDT

I am looking for a game that is detective based where you can find clues, interrogate suspects, and examine evidence.

This describes most games, but they're all hidden object games. I dont want that. I'm looking for a game which requires thinking and logic to solve a case.

Sleuth:Noir is a good example of what I'm looking for. It's a web game where you have a case and ask suspects questions along with examining evidence.

    I'm not picky on graphics.

I understand if there is no such game on android at the moment, but thought I'd try to look.
