Envy 15 i5 10300h gtx1650ti, 16gb ram Posted: 28 Sep 2020 11:41 PM PDT I think this variant of the envy 15 is available only in India (INR 1,20,000). I was wondering if this would be sufficient for some video editing and 3D rendering, both of which are strictly occasional. I will be predominantly using this for uni. Other laptops at this price are either too heavy, badly built, or lack things critical to me (such as the webcam on the zephyrus g14). Is this a decent choice? Are there any good alternatives? Laptop for uni and gaming up to 600 USD Posted: 28 Sep 2020 11:43 PM PDT Hi. I need to buy a laptop for online classes, light gaming and watching tv series. I am planning on buying the laptop on Prime Day so I guess even the 700-750 USD ones might come down to 600 USD ( wishful thinking :) )
Oh and I would like for this to be a bit future-proof, so should possibly last me for the next 4-5 years if possible. [link] [comments] |

budget laptop for an older family friend Posted: 29 Sep 2020 12:49 AM PDT Hey, I'm looking to help out a family friend who asked for a recommendation for a new laptop. They are older and generally only use the laptop for its portability and to browse the internet/ online gamble. Their old laptop was a Lenovo with a touch screen so I would think they would appreciate a touch screen, though it's not a deal breaker if a laptop doesn't have one. I'm thinking somewhere in the under $400 budget as their daily use doesn't need a whole lot of power. That being said they are fairly well off, so if there is a more expensive laptop with more quality of life improvements they wouldn't mind paying extra. For example, I'm sure they'd enjoy a 2-in-1 laptop tablet so long as it isn't too pricey. Total budget (in local currency) and country of purchase. Please do not use USD unless purchasing in the US: under $400 though flexible Are you open to refurbs/used? No How would you prioritize form factor (ultrabook, 2-in-1, etc.), build quality, performance, and battery life? Portability is important, and touch screen is preferred. How important is weight and thinness to you? Fairly important. Do you have a preferred screen size? If indifferent, put N/A. a 15" 16:9 1920x1080p would likely fit them the best. Are you doing any CAD/video editing/photo editing/gaming? List which programs/games you desire to run. Only web browsing and whatever program they use for gambling If you're gaming, do you have certain games you want to play? At what settings and FPS do you want? N/A Any specific requirements such as good keyboard, reliable build quality, touch-screen, finger-print reader, optical drive or good input devices (keyboard/touchpad)? Touch screen would be nice, 2-in-1 form would also be nice but isn't important. Leave any finishing thoughts here that you may feel are necessary and beneficial to the discussion. Both of us thank anyone who read up to this point. Your advice is sincerely appreciated. [link] [comments] |
Asus Vivobook Flip 14 or Lenovo IdeaPad Flex 5? Posted: 28 Sep 2020 11:11 AM PDT Hello fellers! I am buying a laptop for collage and I need your help. As you can see I chose these laptops because I liked them but I can't choose which one cause: Flex 5 has a pen coming in with it but the ram is not upgradeable. I liked the design of the Flex 5 and they say Lenovo is cooler than other laptops. Vivobook's ram is upgradebale but I really didnt like the design. Which one should I buy? [link] [comments] |
Posted: 29 Sep 2020 04:17 AM PDT Iam planning to get a Huawei d14 or d15 but its the first time iam seeing this company makes laptops. The laptop should last for 3-4 years. I really like the design but i dont know if i should choose this or Asus m509da which has the same specs( 8gb ram, ryzen 5, vegra 7, 256gb ssd). For the price of 580€ [link] [comments] |
Portable laptop for windows remote desktop for wife Posted: 29 Sep 2020 03:41 AM PDT LAPTOP QUESTIONNAIRE Total budget (in local currency) and country of purchase. Please do not use USD unless purchasing in the US: $800, but would prefer to not use entire budget if possible Are you open to refurbs/used? No How would you prioritize form factor (ultrabook, 2-in-1, etc.), build quality, performance, and battery life? Build quality and battery life are most important. How important is weight and thinness to you? Both of these are very important. Do you have a preferred screen size? If indifferent, put N/A. 13" is ideal Are you doing any CAD/video editing/photo editing/gaming? List which programs/games you desire to run. No CAD/video editing, photo editing, or gaming. The laptop is only used for opening windows remote desktop and working off of her work computer. She will only be doing light web browsing and maybe pdf viewing on the actual laptop. Any specific requirements such as good keyboard, reliable build quality, touch-screen, finger-print reader, optical drive or good input devices (keyboard/touchpad)? Reliable build quality and battery are key. She keeps the laptop in her purse all of the time, so it will get knocked around a bit. Also looking for good battery life so she doesn't have to worry about carrying the charger with her in her purse all of the time. Leave any finishing thoughts here that you may feel are necessary and beneficial to the discussion. My wife is looking for a computer that she can use for running Windows Remote Desktop to connect to her desktop at work. She keeps the laptop in her purse and carries it with her all the time, so it is important that it is rugged enough to get knocked around sometimes (nothing crazy, but things happen). Also looking for a computer with good battery life. Feel free to join our Discord server at: https://discordapp.com/invite/pes68JM for a faster response! [link] [comments] |

Budget laptops with IPS screen + dedicated graphics card Posted: 29 Sep 2020 03:06 AM PDT I'm looking for a cheap laptop (preferably 700€ - 1,200€) and I'm struggling to find this particular combination, IPS screen + discrete GPU. When they have one, they turn out to not have the other. (Full form here) I was tempted to go for HP 15-DW2026NP, until I realized the screen is SVA. The TN panel on my Acer Aspire E 15 has awful colors, I can't use it for drawing at all. The viewing angles are horseshit. But it's also old - have current SVAs/WVAs improved to the point of being bearable? Just the same way, I was considering ASUS Zenbook 14 (which has IPS) but it only has integrated graphics. Actually, most ultrabooks are the same, decent screen specs but no video card. Is this how far I can get on this budget? I don't want external GPU either 'cause I'm carrying it. Can I even make do without discrete graphics? I will be using it for:
Specs:
(I'm looking for an utilitarian device, for the love of god don't suggest me a laptop based on the fact it has RGB backlit keys or not, thank you) Current laptop: Acer Aspire E 15 571G-5387 (i5-5200U / 4GB / HDD500GB / GF820M 2Gb / W8.1). Can do most of what I need but yeah, horseshit screen, and crashes on some really random tasks. Ideally, don't want to downgrade from this. Possible choices (based on pricing in Portugal): HP Envy 13, HP 15-DW2026NP, HP Omen 15, Asus ROG Zephyrus G14, ASUS Zenbook 14, Lenovo Legion Y540, Lenovo Legion 5, IdeaPad L340 Gaming, HP pavilion 14, etc. Actually, some of these are much cheaper than the others, I'm willing to settle for the cheapest required to run the things I listed above. Strongest candidates (suspiciously cheap): Lenovo Legion Y540 15IHR, HP Envy 13, HP Omen 15 Thank you in advance. [link] [comments] |
Laptop for school, coding and gaming (warzone) Posted: 28 Sep 2020 11:19 PM PDT I'm looking for a laptop around under 3000 usd, for school coding and gaming (warzone and among us) particularly warzone over 144FPS. Not too gamery looking as it will also be used for school. 17 inch screen size. Preferably 144hz aswell. Cheers! [link] [comments] |
RTX 2060 with 60hz QHD screen or GTX 1660Ti with 120hz screen Posted: 29 Sep 2020 02:36 AM PDT I'm looking to buy the ASUS ROG Zephyrus G14. Theres two configurations as that I listed in the title. RTX 2060 with 60hz QHD screen or GTX 1660Ti with 120hz screen. I want to buy the laptop primarily for gaming, if i understand correctly the RTX 2060 is the better graphics card but a high screen refresh rate is best for gaming? Any recommendations? Would it be feasible to purchase the model with the RTX and attach a high refresh rate monitor if I run into issues with the 60hz? Theres like a £400 price difference (120hz being cheaper) [link] [comments] |
Lenovo Legion 5 or HP Omen? (AMD VARIANTS ONLY) Posted: 29 Sep 2020 02:27 AM PDT after months of research, last month, I decided to buy Asus G14. But after asking here, I realized that it was an overkill to my purpose. Some awesome redditors gave me Legion 5 as a suggestion and I really liked it (except for design :/) After looking at legion 5, I also stumbled on Omen 2020 (I really liked the design and it's also 300$ more expensive) Please help me to choose one. Seems like Legion 5 does not have G-Sync does it matter much? links of the laptops I'm referring : I will get these from US in November or December. So, I'm in no hurry. [link] [comments] |
Lenovo Legion 5 or Asus ROG G14 ? Posted: 28 Sep 2020 03:36 PM PDT As the title says, which one would you recommend all things considered? Specs: Lenovo Legion 5 15ARH05 - Ryzen 7 4800H/16 GB/512 GB/GTX 1650 4 GB - 15.6" Full HD IPS 1920 x 1080 $1000 Asus ROG Zephyrus GA401IU - Ryzen 7 4800HS/16 GB/512 GB/GTX 1660 Ti 6 GB - 14" Full HD IPS 1920 x 1080 - $1600 Apparently the Legion offers 250nits and only 45% NTSC gamut. Is it worth the price going for the G14? The only thing that put me off is the 14" screen. I am planning to use the laptop for both work/gaming and programming. [link] [comments] |
COMPARISON MSI Creator 15M vs PcSpecialist laptop Posted: 29 Sep 2020 02:04 AM PDT pc specialist (I selected RTX 2060 and i7 10750H) or msi creator 15M. I don't know what to buy: I want a laptop with:
I found these 2 laptops that I can buy for 1200€, but I don't know which is better: I like more the MSI look, but it has worst cooling system (?) for what I have read online and it hasn't the numpad (I need to find a solution for this) What can you suggest me? Another one thing: the MSI comes with Freedos, is it so complicated to install Windows and drivers? [link] [comments] |

Nintendo Switch Streaming Setup (Laptop) – Please help Posted: 29 Sep 2020 01:07 AM PDT Hi, everyone. I would like to ask for some help regarding what I would need for streaming Nintendo Switch gameplay. I especially need help with regard to a computer hardware/software. I have roughly the equivalent of US$2,000 for a budget. For personal reasons, I would prefer a laptop as I need to be portable. Is there anything I can buy off the shelf to get started? I have heard I need a capture card as well. I am in Taiwan, near an electronics district, so I should be able to find stuff easily enough. I understand a camera, light, headphones/mic, etc. Really need help understanding what the computer would need to get me up and running. Specifications and/or model specifics would be much appreciated. Thanks.

[Intel i7 (8-9gens) + 2070/2080] or [Ryzen7 4800h +1660Ti] for After Effects and Premiere Pro Posted: 28 Sep 2020 12:11 PM PDT Hello everyone! I'm going to buy a used laptop from Ebay. Cannot decide what to buy. I play games like Rainbow Six Siege sometimes, but GTX1650 is enough for me (was testing it earlier). Now I'm looking for a laptop to use it in After Effects and Premiere Pro, 2D animation graphics mostly. I've read lot of articles and comparisons between new i7 10750h and r7 4800h, and 4800h is a real monster in multi-core and a bit smaller monster in single-core. Budget is about $1000. Laptops I'm considering are:
I don't care about RAM or SSDs cuz I'm going to upgrade it anyway. Just want to know, which configuration is better for After Effects and Premiere Pro. Is it worth going with slower CPU (i7 6-core vs r7 8-core) to get better GPU, or is it better to have better CPU and 1660Ti will be enough for AE & PP? [link] [comments] |
Early 2015 MacBook pro 13" vs HP Envy 13 2020 for music production and video editing? Posted: 28 Sep 2020 04:23 PM PDT LAPTOP QUESTIONNAIRE
£950 / United Kingdom
Yes
Performance, build quality, form factor, battery life
very important, would love something light as I'm a uni student and have to carry my laptop to multiple classes and studios.
-13.3"
-music production - ableton live 10 standard video editing - sony Vegas pro 11
-N/A
-relibale build quality, finger print reader would be nice but not too fussed, good input devices.
hey guys so I'm currently in the process of saving up 1k for a new laptop and I'm stuck between buying a refurbished early 2015 MacBook pro 13" i7 or the hp envy 13 i7. I'm going to be using it for mostly producing music and editing basic videos. I produce on ableton and edit my videos on sony Vegas. I've done extensive research on both, and I was so leaning towards the hp envy until I came across shit loads of complaints about the hinge breaking on previous 2017/18/19 models or fucking up 8 months after use or a year after use. I'm saving up and paying for this laptop all myself so I really want it to last at least 4 years, I've gotten 5 years out of my hp notebook 15 i5 and it was 700 quid at the time!! I'm on the fence about buying a refurbished mac book that is quite old as well, also because I've heard the mac os is very protected, and free plugins for daw are less likely to be available for Macs and I don't have the money to buy a lot of plugins for production (I'm a student lol) also I use a cracked vers of sony Vegas which I know is bad but again I'm a student lol. ideally I don't want to spend more than 950 pound on this laptop. can someone more educated than me on this pls help me out, any opinions are welcome tbh having such a hard time making a decision. thank u <3333 [link] [comments] |
