Is it worth upgrading from Redmi Note 7 (4G/64) to Redmi Note 9s (6G/124) for 50€/60$?

    Posted: 28 Sep 2020 01:22 PM PDT

I found a deal, 4 months old Redmi Note 9s with warranty, 10/10 shape, for 60$ compensation and my Redmi Note 7

Though it has UI lag? Which I'm guessing will get fixed with factory reset and MIUI 12 which will come in a few days?

    Thoughts? It it worth it?

    US wall adapter for Mi Note 10 (CC9 Pro}

    Posted: 28 Sep 2020 06:44 PM PDT

Does anyone know where I can buy the OEM wall adapter that supports US outlets? Mine came with the European plug and although it came with and an adapter piece, I would like another brick to bring for life on the go and utilize the 30W fast charging without extra pieces.

Camera2 API supported on Xiaomi Redmi Note 9?

    Posted: 28 Sep 2020 02:30 PM PDT

Hi there,Is the Camera2 API supported on the Xiaomi Redmi Note 9 model out of the box? I'm thinking of buying one and It'd be pretty nice to know this, thanks.

It apparently is on the 9s: https://www.reddit.com/r/Xiaomi/comments/g2z6wy/redmi_note_9s_camera2_api_support/

It can be checked by installing "Camera2 API Probe" app and looking at the "Hardware Support Level" table entry.
    The app: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.airbeat.device.inspector&hl=en_US

I got android 11 custom rom running on Mi 9t/k20

    Posted: 28 Sep 2020 06:24 AM PDT

I know there is an android 11 rom for the mi 9t pro, but I could never find one for the non pro, until today. The rom I found is called Posp (Potato open source project).

    Xda here

It is basically stock with a small amount of customisation options.

    Bugs I've found:

The text select in recents does not work at all

Most of the customisation features don't work

Not supported my twrp yet, so everything is just gibberish, so flashing extra stuff in twrp is impossible, have to use sideload

    Proof

    Gapps

    vendor rom

Let me know if you have any questions about the rom!

A couple of questions regarding rooting my Redmi Note 9 Pro

    Posted: 28 Sep 2020 05:20 PM PDT

Last time I had an Android phone was a Sony Xperia Z and it was so awful that I never even looked at any Android phone until a few months ago where I missed it so much I bought a Redmi Note 9 Pro (international) as my side phone. And for the most part I love it. but I wanna completely remove some pesky system apps and because of that I have to root my phone which has become a giant headache for me. I didn't know about the 7 day waiting thing or how bad the ROM dev community has become over the years. Anyways, now that MIUI 12 and then later Android 11 is on the corner, can I root my phone and have it easily update to the later versions of MIUI and Android in the future or should I keep re-locking and un-rooting my phone each time there is a major update?

However I was wondering if there's a way to remove the padlock icon on the lock screen? I just want it to show the fingerprint icon

Note 9s only vibrates for notifications?

    Posted: 28 Sep 2020 04:41 PM PDT

For some reason, I can't get the phone to do noise for notifications. Any idea what could be causing this?

EDIT: Additional details -- I get sound fine on calls, but text messaging going through the signal app somehow only vibrate. everything is set to default.

EDIT 2: Notifications make noise but ONLY when I'm in the app. otherwise it vibrates.

Unlock Bootloader tool stuck on 99%

    Posted: 28 Sep 2020 12:38 PM PDT

I decided to flash a custom rom onto my redmi note 8, so I have to unlock the bootloader. I downloaded the unlock bootloader tool from the miui website but it just gets stuck for half an hour at 99%. It doesn't even care if i remove the usb cable connected to my device. And why does Xiaomi make it so hard to unlock your bootloader? Some guy on youtube said I'll have to wait a week after the 99% have finished.

    Hi,

I just bought this phone a few weeks ago, but I notice that if I have wired headphones plugged in, sometimes the audio will stop working. The songs will still play, but the sound is not produced. I have to either quit all audio apps, or restart the phone. Dia this happen for anyone else?

Power button working weirdly (fastboot screen)

    Posted: 28 Sep 2020 04:01 PM PDT

I have a Xiaomi Mi 8 Lite. I was listening to spotify when randomly the power button stopped working (as in locking the screen) and when i tried to hold the power button it rebooted but got stuck in a screen saying FASTBOOT with a bunny. I tried holding all 3 keys and the phone turned on on safe mode, however as soon as i unlock it it won't lock again, and the volume keeps popping up and down as if i'm pressing it. I didn't let my phone fall, ever, there's not even a single crack in my screen, so i doubt the hardware broke or something but i'm not being able to fix it. What can i do?

    Delete/hide google calendar?

    Posted: 28 Sep 2020 02:46 PM PDT

I always used to preffer xiaomi's default apps rather than google's, and that's no different with the calendar.

As I just today bought my Note 9S, i noticed it had google calender (horrible, i mean just terrible layout, completely hideous, nothing in comparison with mi calendar's cleanliness), so i immediately downloaded mi calendar. problem is, now i have 2 calendar apps.

Any way to delete or hide google calendar?

also, why could i have just mi calendar on my note 7, like this?

Xiaomi Mi 10 Ultra CE mark

    Posted: 28 Sep 2020 01:45 PM PDT

    Hi guys,

I can't import anything that has Wifi to my country if it doesn't have a Declaration of Comformity.

So my question is, does the Mi 10 Ultra have that and if not any news on the global release?

Has anyone bought off giztop? Seems like the only place that will ship to where I am

    Thanks!

    My issues with MIUI12

    Posted: 28 Sep 2020 06:50 AM PDT

While using dark mode the status bar font and icon color is black and therefore barely readable on the home screen and some other full screen applications. I don't want to use light mode but this feature really is bad.

Screen turns on way slower from stand by. There is like a "fade from black" effect that's really noticeable when turning on the phone because the fade-in time is too long.

Clock in status bar isn't displayed on a home screen that has a clock widget. I see why one would do this, but the shifting of the notification icons is annoying.

The icon background color isn't affected by dark mode. Its a small thing, but annoying, especially since MIUI 12 was advertised with a lot of (positive) changes for dark mode users. Also the icon shape isn't working for some apps. I'm using rounded rectangle but a few apps (serenity, reddit, avast passwords,...) are still circles.

Also, you can't switch back to the last used app by swiping from one side to the center and keeping the finger in place for a moment.

These are the things I noticed within my first few hours of using miui 12 and I'm really considering downgrading back to miui 11 just because of the status bar color thing.

Is xiaomi in the same boat as Huawei?

    Posted: 28 Sep 2020 01:29 AM PDT

Hey, So I'm looking into buying the Xiaomi Poco F2. But I've read that it doesn't come preloaded with google play store(I know you can download it though). Is this just Xiaomi not preloading google features? Or is it google ditching Xiaomi?
