Why are warp chargers USB Type-A to Type-C instead of Type-C to Type-C?

    Posted: 29 Aug 2020 09:05 PM PDT

What is the logic behind using USB Type-A to Type-C if most modern laptops come with Type-C ports?

Even Apple uses Type-C to Type-C for the iPad Pro and Type-C to Lightning for the iPhone. The OnePlus Bullets are Type-C.

Why not sell a warp charger like this one: https://www.amazon.com/Charger-Anker-PowerPort-Laptops-MacBook/dp/B07PWC32ZD

Edit: Many people have stated that they don't need Type-C because Type-A is still far more common. What about the headphone jack that OnePlus removed? A lot of devices are wireless now but most headphones still are not. Does this mean that they should've kept the headphone jack? Did that stop you from buying the OnePlus 7/7T/8? You can't stop technological growth.

It's embarrassing that even entry-level brands like Motorola offer Type-C to Type-C charging: https://www.motorola.com/us/motorola-turbopower-15w-wireless-charging-pad/p

If OnePlus wants to be a premium brand and charge $700-900 for their phones, they need to give us premium things. Yah, there's an Apple Tax for their products but they deliver on premium features and services.

Is it normal to have black crush issues when Night Mode is on?

    Posted: 30 Aug 2020 02:52 PM PDT

I just got my OnePlus 8 a few days ago and I noticed that there is really bad black crush but only during Night Mode. That didn't happen on my previous phone so I found it odd.

Is that normal or is something wrong with my device? I won't be returning the phone because apart from this there aren't any other issues and I really like the phone. Just want to know if others have had the same experience.

Hide notch on the oneplus 7t?

    Posted: 30 Aug 2020 05:19 PM PDT

Has the ability to hide the notch found its way to the oneplus 7t? I know it is possible on older op devices but I've read that the option wasn't available on the 7t. I've also read that people were able to find this option using the "activity" widget in nova, and then the setting called "notch display" launching the settings page for the notch. Does this method work for the 7t? I no I don't want to use natcho notch

Are these apps okay to have disabled?

    Posted: 30 Aug 2020 06:08 PM PDT

I hate bloat, I hate having unnecessary apps on my phone, even if I do not see and/or use them. With that being said, I went on a disable spree but just wanted to check if all of these apps were okay to disable.

    Thanks.

Does the OnePlus logo fade on the Karbon case?

    Posted: 30 Aug 2020 05:24 PM PDT

i've been thinking of between the karbon and nylon case for the 7 pro and i'm not sure which one to go for. I love the karbon's aesthetic, but nylon seems to be grippier, but when I found out the logo fades on the nylon, it was kind of a bummer. i know, corporate branding bad, but i kinda like the sheen it has...

also cuz the older logo was better tbh.

replies from all karbon case owners (previous phones, newer phones) welcome!

I Need Some Clarification on OnePlus's Software Update Policy.

    Posted: 30 Aug 2020 11:19 AM PDT

I know OnePlus promises 2 years of software updates and an additional year of security updates.

What I would want some clarification on is, does it mean 2 major updates or literally 2 years of support?

Let me give a quick example. OnePlus 7T came out with Android 10, so did OnePlus Nord. However if you think about it, there is almost a year between their releases.

In other words, is it guaranteed that OnePlus 7T will get Android 12? Or, for example, if they release Android 12 in October, is 7T out of luck because it will be past 2 years from its release?

I'm new to OnePlus, I'd appreciate if someone with experience regarding this can enlighten me.

Why did OnePlus changed their sandstone case for 8 Pro

    Posted: 30 Aug 2020 04:03 PM PDT

I liked the "old" sandstone case over the new one. The old one had cutouts for volume buttons and charging port.

Now the sandstone case is only available as a bumper case. Does anyone know why?

Gallery Photos Mismatch between Google Photos and third party app gallery attachment

    Posted: 30 Aug 2020 07:38 PM PDT

    Background info:
Backed up photos via Google Photos on Pixel XL
Pulled photos from Google Photos to new phone, OnePlus 6T

After restoring all my photos, they are displayed in chronological order in the Photos app.

However, when trying to attach a photo in a third party app, like WhatsApp, the photos shown available to attach are from 4 years ago.
I have disabled the OnePlus gallery app and restarted the phone. What gives?
    thanks

Hi there! Confused between OnePlus Nord and Pixel 4a

    Posted: 30 Aug 2020 03:27 PM PDT

So I have been a Nexus 6p user for almost 3 years now and the battery degradation and lag is unbearable for me.

I've had my eyes on the Nord and 4a since they were revealed and I was mostly leaning towards OP as my friend has had an OP6 for 2 years and it's still as slick as day 1. I love stock Android and that's the main reason why I prefer sticking to Google but OP is pretty close to the experience with Oxygen OS....

That was till I saw a preview of OxygenOS 11 and now I'm leaning more towards the Pixel. I'm concerned about the longevity of both devices and that's probably what I would consider most.

Is Warp Charge worth having to use proprietary accessories?

    Posted: 30 Aug 2020 07:32 AM PDT

I'm using a Samsung Galaxy that supports QC, and USB-PD, which is pretty nice since it's compatible with every fast charger out there, but pretty slow. I'm considering upgrading to the 8 / Pro and I'm stoked to have a super fast charging phone, but I'm wondering how much having to use specific chargers and cables impacts your usage. Is the tradeoff worth it?

    Thanks fellas

Fingerprint Failing So Much After August Security Update

    Posted: 30 Aug 2020 02:18 PM PDT

Anyone else having this problem? It's the 6T on T-Mobile. I've never had my fingerprint fail so much, especially in apps. But it still fails a shitload on the lock screen. I've try redoing them and everything. It just started happening after I updated to the August 2020 security patch straight from T-Mobile.

Is MEMC worth it on OP8 pro ?

    Posted: 30 Aug 2020 05:05 AM PDT

I've been in a dilemma between op8 and op8pro. I don't really care about camera, but 120Hz and MEMC on OP8pro are in my interests. I use SVP (smooth video player) on my PC to play all animes (or any video file) at constant 60fps and it works like charm, and MEMC is a similar feature exclusive to OP8pro. My question to OP8pro users is whether MEMC is really worth it, or you'll get bored of it within a week? Does MEMC work only on select apps or any website or a local file (I see a lot of anime, never seen Netflix/Amazon prime). Please let me know, so that I will consider getting a 8pro over 8. Thanks!

Not getting notifications on 7 Pro.

    Posted: 30 Aug 2020 02:45 PM PDT

I'm not getting any notifications from anything except texts. I've checked the "battery Optimize" option and have disabled it for the apps I'm using. Is there any other ideas, before I do a factory reset?

    One plus nord bug

    Posted: 30 Aug 2020 09:26 AM PDT

So my phone recieved the update oxygen Os 10.5.5 a few days ago and I was really hoping it was going to fix the battery issue. Instead it seems , now the bluetooth just gets turned on by itself repeatedly within a minute of turning it off. Not to mention Google search results from chrome bar searches won't load anymore. So bloody annoying.

Anyone else having the same issue? Any ways of dealing with this other than factory reset?

Buying a new oneplus 8 pro

    Posted: 30 Aug 2020 12:52 PM PDT

I've been using budget phones my whole but I've finally decided to make the switch to premium smartphones. Oneplus was always on my list as I've heard many good reviews about it and it offers really competitive pricing. I'm about to buy the 8pro very soon but I've heard it's suffering many problems like display issues, bad night photography, inconvenient curved display etc. I'd like to know from existing op8 users about their experience with the phone and if they'd recomend it or should I look at other options?

Hey! I've been rocking the screen protector that comes with the phone for 3 months now, it's decent and doesn't give me any problems but i would like to upgrade.

    https://www.whitestonedome.com/products/oneplus-8-pro-tempered-glass-screen-protector

This just launched. What do you guys think of it? I can get it for 55euro at a local shop.

I've never used fluids or UV-glues at all and i am a bit nervous.

So I fell asleep watching Hulu last night only to wake up with the settings open, now sometimes when I try to use the volume the buttons work and the pop up shows that it's going up or down but the volume doesn't actually change. And it only happens sometimes, anyone know what this is?

Nord - WiFi calling on Three (UK)

    Posted: 30 Aug 2020 05:17 AM PDT

Has anyone got WiFi/volte working on a Nord using Three? Tried the logikit but no options showing for it. Nord isn't listed as a compatible WiFi calling handset on Three support pages.

My work Sim 2 on EE has it working and enabled, but could do with my personal Sim working too.
