Five, six, tilde, minus and F five keys suddenly not working on laptop. Posted: 31 Aug 2020 12:52 PM PDT I have an HP Pavilion 15-au018wm and the five, six, tilde, F five, and minus keys on the keypad and six on the number pad are suddenly not working. About a week ago they became sluggish before becoming completely unresponsive. Unfortunately the keyboard is integrated into the "face plate" or whatever you call it and isn't a detachable piece so I can't remove the keyboard without disassembling and soldering the whole thing. I tried lifting the individual keys to blow/clean under them and they randomly started to work again briefly, albeit extremely sluggishly - I had to mash the keys multiple times for a single response. The shift function for five and six, however, still did not work. They eventually died again and I just resolved to find workarounds for those keys. A day or two later the keys randomly returned to full functionality and were working perfectly until today, when I switched on my laptop and noticed they were dead again. Note: the keys all suffer at the same time: they either work, are sluggish, or don't work in tandem, not individually. I had a brainfart when the problem initially happened and never thought to check online, as I assumed it was just a hardware failure. But looking today, I found it's actually a known problem, and not just with HP laptops, possibly centered around Windows updates. Unfortunately all the threads I can find are old and/or locked, with no solution given for the problem. I tried playing around with the keys and a screwdriver this morning, but nothing, I've tried un/reinstalling the keyboard from device manager but nothing, Any ideas? [link] [comments]

Pc cant find graphics card outta nowhere, cant do anything to find it... Posted: 31 Aug 2020 01:11 PM PDT Ive had this pc for months now, this time i tried opening forza a few times but it closed everytime so i clicked to restart pc but when i did no monitor came on and the gpu fans started spinning REALLY loud, ive tried disconnecting all usb, turning power on and off but im stuck on what to do now... Edit: CPU: i7 8700 GPU: RTX 2060 16GB RAM I also found the VGA signal on the ez debug shows up for a little, then it disappears and comes back on randomly for a little before going off again. IMPORTANT EDIT: So I cant find my RTX 2060 in device manager, I cant see anything to do with graphics cards in the BIOS, I deleted the older version of nvidia driver and when I downloaded the new one from Nvidias site I cant install it... it says windows version is not compatible what now? Someone in tech support sub said no. I'm counting on you.lol. Fingers crossed 🤞 [link] [comments]
Trojan keyboard issues persist Posted: 31 Aug 2020 04:45 AM PDT My laptop keyboard had been acting strange all day so I ran a couple of windows tests on my laptop but nothing came up; until I ran the test on my USB, and godforbid: a Trojan was found. I tried to remove the Trojan via windows, and I factory reset my laptop twice. I then followed this post But I'm still experiencing problems with my keyboard. (Also, since Trojans are spread by running .exe files, my USB wouldn't reinfect any other devices by plugging it in... right?) I'm clearly not very tech-savy so any insight / help would be MUCH appreciated!!! [link] [comments]

It did not bother me so much But this morning the computer freezes every time I finish an After Effect project and try to do a RENDER in Media Encoder The computer freezes completely and must be restarted. I work from home and I have to finish projects. please help . I tried CC CLENER I tried encoding in another software. In different settings. Still always freezing. I have a feeling this is something to do with a video card. All drivers and windows are up to date. (Windows 10) [link] [comments] |
