Help me choose between HP 2-in-1s Posted: 31 May 2020 03:45 PM PDT I need to choose between these two specific laptops I have linked: the HP Envy x360 and HP Spectre x360. I am specifically looking for a 2-in-1 for basic use and some gaming. The Spectre has a dedicated graphics card, but the Envy has a 4th gen AMD card. Should I prioritize having a dedicated GPU or the higher processor? Coming from a mid-2012 Macbook Pro, I don't know which would be more important. Additional comments is that I would want to upgrade the Envy RAM to 16gb in the future. HP Envy x360 with Ryzen 4700 HP Spectre x360 with 10th gen Intel [link] [comments] |
Laptop for gaming and YouTube? Posted: 01 Jun 2020 04:48 AM PDT Hey there. What laptop £1000-£1500 range would be good for gaming (mostly horror) and YouTube (recording, video editing)? Preferred specs would be RTX 2060, 16gb ram, 1TB storage. I'd like it with good WiFi since I'm taking it to uni, webcam and fans which aren't very loud if possible. Right now, my candidates are ASUS TUF A15 and Legion Y540, but I'm open to more suggestions as I'm so unsure. Any help please? Sorry cuz I'm not a tech expert. Thanks and stay safe :) [link] [comments] |

Adobe Cloud and standard business apps laptop about $2 700 Posted: 01 Jun 2020 12:25 AM PDT Hi there, so I'm looking for laptop for adobe cloud illustrator and photoshop and other business apps like excel etc. I don't do any rendering and so on, however possibility of some gaming would be nice. Now I have MacBook Pro and I prefer to switch back to windows. I though about - Surface book 3 - in the past I had first version of this model and I loved it, however it seems not to have best money/performance ratio - Asus G14 - Good money/performance ratio, definitely good for gaming with business laptop look - Dell Xps15 - Seems like cheaper version of Surface book, but without the extra options What would You guys suggest? Gaming is not a must. [link] [comments] |

Friend needs computer for Uni and light gaming Posted: 01 Jun 2020 04:26 AM PDT Total budget (in local currency) and country of purchase. Please do not use USD unless purchasing in the US: from 400€ to 650€ in Spain. Are you open to refurbs/used? No. How would you prioritize form factor (ultrabook, 2-in-1, etc.), build quality, performance, and battery life? best performance for the price. How important is weight and thinness to you? It's not important but better if it's not very heavy. Do you have a preferred screen size? If indifferent, put N/A. N/a. Are you doing any CAD/video editing/photo editing/gaming? List which programs/games you desire to run. I'll be using it for univeristy and light gaming. If you're gaming, do you have certain games you want to play? At what settings and FPS do you want? Light gaming like : cs:go, lol, valorant. 60 fps and i don't mind having settings at minimum. Any specific requirements such as good keyboard, reliable build quality, touch-screen, finger-print reader, optical drive or good input devices (keyboard/touchpad)? It would be great to have a good keyboard for the uni. Leave any finishing thoughts here that you may feel are necessary and beneficial to the discussion. If possible can i have 1 Tb of HDD. Suggest an AMD Laptop for Programming and Light Gaming Posted: 31 May 2020 08:48 PM PDT Laptop under 1500$ that will last me up to at least 6 years. I currently own an MBP 13 2016 Non-Touch, I like the laptop but it's just not powerful enough. I want something with AMD (with a sleekish - ultrabook look). I don't need a 2 in 1 or anything like that. I need a high res display (I like displays in MacBook). I don't care about the refresh rate. Weight preferably under 5lbs. Going to use it for intensive programming so I need a powerful future proof processor. I will also use it for light gaming occasionally for GTA-V and CounterStrike. I have my eyes on G14 but it lacks a webcam which I would really like. Let me know your suggestions! [link] [comments] |
Need help for buying a new laptop Posted: 01 Jun 2020 03:39 AM PDT Hi guys I wanted to get a new laptop, mainly for coding purposes. Like running react apps, python apps etc. Also for some other apps like Photoshop. So I enquired around my friends and they suggested I get a gaming laptop because they're really powerful and will be able to handle these tasks with ease. So the model I thought of going for is the Asus Nitro 7 with the specs as such: Intel core i7 9th generation, 8GB ram expandable to 16GB, 1TB SSD, 6GB Nvidia GTX 1660Ti. Now this laptop is costing me around 90k INR or around $1200. Now my friends also said how gaming laptops require servicing from time to time and one of my friend gives it for every 2-3 months. That is something I want to avoid as I've always had bad memories with service centers. Be it them breaking my screen or stealing my ram and blaming it on me. I'd really like to avoid this constant servicing.. Do you guys think this is a good choice? If not could you please let me know the specifications of a laptop that can handle this sort of heavy duty work and preferably in and around the same price range. I'd be very grateful! Thank you. Laptop for an artist who occasionally games (USA) Posted: 31 May 2020 02:55 PM PDT
Up to 1500 USD
Not particularly.
Performance and build quality are primary, battery life comes second (I usually keep my laptop plugged in with the battery removed). Everything else is important, but not as important as the formers.
Not at all.
Art (as in, with a connected screen tablet) and gaming. The programs I use the most are Clip Studio Paint and SAI and the games I play the most is Dead by Daylight.
I want to play games above the low setting without losing performance.
I prefer the storage to be HD or combination SSD + HD. Storage is pretty important to me. I also prefer a keyboard that isn't very flimsy or prone to damage (my last laptop had an issue where the top half of the keyboard became nonfunctional), with sturdy USB ports. I use a mouse so touchpad isn't that important. Also, an aluminum chassis if it's within my budget. Just anything that isn't plastic. A brighter screen would be nice as well.
My current laptop is a Dell Inspiron 5567, so anything better than that is a'okay with me. [link] [comments] |
Help needed! Multimedia laptop mainly. Posted: 01 Jun 2020 03:22 AM PDT I currently own a huawei matebook d15, works great except that the plastic hinge and bottom of screen came apart, i can see the metal screw and cant close the lid, because it will probably come apart. So.. Recommend me a reliable laptop, made from metal and with solid hinges, mainly for browsing, media, and some very very light gaming. I was looking at asus zenbook 14 with amd chipset. Any recommendations? [link] [comments] |

Posted: 01 Jun 2020 02:47 AM PDT Hey, I have researched a little while and CA not for the love of God pick a laptop to buy, I'm looking for something, $1400 Max usd, I want to try to get something with a 2060 or a 1660ti preferably the 2060, I've been looking at Asus laptops and msi laptops, mainly since I really like that metal look on them, really love that look, I like that look, open to any brand but I personally like msi and Asus (rog/strix Asus laptops) want to try buying new, won't buy used, located in the us, no microcenter near my house, that's all the info I have right now, I'm heading off to bed so if anyone needs some more info on something, just put it in a comment and I'll respond with a answer in about 9 hours from now, thanks in advance for your help! Edit: I would also like it to have thunderbolt 3 or normal USB c, doesn't need to be charging, I would like it to be a thinner and lighter laptop, but that is a lower priority [link] [comments] |
Is the acer swift 3 with amd 7 4700u a good pick? Posted: 01 Jun 2020 02:15 AM PDT This is the only laptop i can find with a 4700u currently but looking at 8gb soldered ram make me worry it will become obsolete soon. Since it igpu is shared so it will take about 2gb ram to make vram and so it will leave me with much less ram for photoshop, video editing and game like gta 5. Do you think i should skip it because of it? And what are the alternate for light weight laptop with a 4700u i can get under 850$? Posted: 01 Jun 2020 02:01 AM PDT About 1000€, Italy Hello! As in the title I'm here asking for some advice with choosing the right laptop for my needs. I'm a Nuclear Physics master student and I'm looking for a laptop to study and work with: I'll mostly use it for coding, some data analysis and reading. It must of course have to handle casual gaming and media reproduction. The caracteristics I'm looking for are durability, longevity (my current computer has about 12 years, i have high expectations for the new one), the ability to change/upgrade hardware if needed and Linux compatibility. My budget is somewhat flexible around 1000€. I've been thinking of a Thinkpad T490 but I really don't know if that's the right choice, so I came here for enlightenment! Thanks in advance :-) Form:
About 1000€
Not really
Build quality, performance, battery, form
Kinda important, but not the priority.
N/A
No Cad neither editing. Mostly coding and data analysis, some casual gaming and media reproduction.
Not really
Good keyboard, reliable build quality and good input devices. Finger print would be cool, but not needed.
The laptop must be linux compatible. My original idea was a Thinkpad T490. Edit: I didn't read the rules before posting! Edit 2: forgot the country [link] [comments] |
Really satisfied with my dell inspiron n5110 but it may die on me soon; looking for replacement Posted: 31 May 2020 09:36 PM PDT Total budget (in local currency) and country of purchase. Please do not use USD unless purchasing in the US Would like to keep it to $1,000 or less. More than $1,000 would really be pushing it. Much less than $1,000 would make my day. (USA) Are you open to refurbs/used? Yes, though I have a refurb now and I've wondered if it's time for new. How would you prioritize form factor (ultrabook, 2-in-1, etc.), build quality, performance, and battery life? Form factor (prefer standard laptop), performance, build quality, battery life. How important is weight and thinness to you? Not very important. Though, avoiding an outright brick would be nice. Do you have a preferred screen size? No smaller than 15.6'' Are you doing any CAD/video editing/photo editing/gaming? List which programs/games you desire to run. I frequently edit videos using Lightworks and Pinnacle. Any specific requirements such as good keyboard, reliable build quality, touch-screen, finger-print reader, optical drive or good input devices (keyboard/touchpad)?
Preferred but not required:
Leave any finishing thoughts here that you may feel are necessary and beneficial to the discussion. I've really liked my Dell Inspiron N5110 so I'm mostly just looking for a laptop that can mirror a lot of what I've already had. Video editing capabilities, storage space, and a sensible design. Also, I guess I'd like to be able to edit or multi-task without fearing my computer may overheat. Thank you in advance to anyone who may be able to chime in. [link] [comments] |
Best gaming laptop strictly under 2000 dollars? Posted: 31 May 2020 06:54 PM PDT Optimally, I would like a laptop that costs no more than 1800 USD, but I could probably foot another 200. I don't like the ASUS laptops that have missing webcams. I am fine with playing at FHD resolution and 60 frames for games like Destiny 2. I would hope for it to be a thin and light laptop. Many thanks in advance for any suggestions! [link] [comments] |

Hi guys, I'm at my wit's end trying to pick a decently powerful 2 in 1 laptop. I can't decide what my choices are. My at desktop PC's GPU recently died, so I'm looking for a new 2 in 1. I was considering getting a Surface Pro 7 and then buying a new GPU (I'm starting to think this is what ill end up doing) but I would like to know what other brands (Dell, Lenovo, HP, ect) 2 in 1 laptops have to offer. I'm trying to narrow down what I can pick from that meet my desire of a laptop with a GPU and Pen capabilities. I'm open to all advice. Thank you x [link] [comments] |
My wife needs a portable 2 in 1 yet it has to be durable and reliable Posted: 01 Jun 2020 12:31 AM PDT We're mostly buying it for work but she will also use it at home. The tasks will be very light tho, for work it will only be used to schedule clients and to manage some documents and at home for calendar, browsing and the occasional movie when we're traveling. So it will basically be a carry everywhere laptop and thus needs to be very durable and reliable, and it has to be a 2 in 1 touchscreen for convenience. The main reason I'm asking here is because I'm curious if there's any other choices except the regular ThinkPad ladtitue or elitebook. I know these laptops are very durable but I can't find many models in my shitty eastern European country and I want to buy locally for the reliable warranty. I find a lot of hp spectre or dell XPS or other lenovos but the business models are not as varied here. I found a Lenovo ThinkPad x380 2in1 but it's kinda thick, any other recommendations? Budget is around 1500-2000 euro. [link] [comments] |
