Phone screen is static. How fast should I replace my phone? Posted: 02 Jun 2020 07:02 PM PDT Intermittently the screen goes staticy like an old TV. Started today. Has been happening intermittently all day. Attached an image of the screen. https://imgur.com/CEHS2TS -> The image shows my phone on a bed with the screen looking like a staticy TV Phone is a 2016 Droid Play Z. Purchased new Sept 2016. Money is tight I dont know how soon I can buy a new phone, was hoping to get another year out of this one. Don't know what to expect. [link] [comments] |
Android Hides Media from Gallery Posted: 02 Jun 2020 05:29 PM PDT Hello guys, I've been having a problem recently (since the last few months I think) with media. I have a Xiaomi MI A2 Android 10. It's a problem that affects videos. Any video I download isn't showing up in my gallery, at all. Either from WhatsApp, or from my browser, they show up on Solid explorer and I can share/view them normally however they will never appear on the gallery app (I've tried 5 gallery apps and also clearing cache and gal app data). What confuses me is that this started happening after I transferred my old images/videos to my computer through an USB cable. I then deleted around 2000 images from my phone since they were all saved on the computer. After this all new videos started hiding from my gallery apps. (but still show on file explorer folders) I checked and there's no .nomedia files in the folders, also, old files from the folders still show (for example, old downloaded videos on the Download folder), but the new ones won't show. I'm totally lost honestly I have no idea why the hell this happened. Please if someone knows help me I'd be extremely grateful. Thanks [link] [comments] |
Bluetooth headphones stop working when screen is locked Posted: 02 Jun 2020 09:31 AM PDT Hi guys. I bought myself s9. There was a problem. Bluetooth headphones stop working when I lock the screen while listening to music from spotify (the sound goes from speakers automatically). Found a thread in support on this topic I did all the methods described in it, and now the headphones stop working only in half the cases. Sometimes they stop working for a second after locking the screen, and then turn back on. Sometimes they stop working and do not turn on at all, and music is heard by everyone around me from the speakers. You have to unlock and lock it back until the headphones are turned on. I can't live like that, help fix this fucking bug please. [link] [comments] |
Galaxy 10 randomly downloading apps without my consent? Posted: 02 Jun 2020 09:29 PM PDT For the past few months I keep noticing random apps being downloaded onto my phone that I would never use or consent to downloading. They are typically random games or music apps. (The most recent one was Solitaire). As soon as I see them I just uninstall them but it doesn't seem like something a normal phone would do. Do I possibly have a virus on my phone or is this a glitch in the galaxy 10? [link] [comments] |
Posted: 02 Jun 2020 07:01 PM PDT More of a general question, but I've been curious about this. With a pc of course you would pick between 1333, 1866, 2133, etc and these days up in the 3000s but with a phone you don't exactly have that customization. The most I ever hear in any review or see in any article is "super fast lpddrx ram" but I'm interested if there's anywhere that states just how fast "super fast" really is. Not an urgent question by any means, just something I'm wondering about. Thanks! [link] [comments] |
Posted: 02 Jun 2020 06:26 PM PDT When I open a file, Android will present me with a list of apps that can open said file. I vaguely remember that there was a way to prevent an app from appearing in that list, how do I do it? [link] [comments] |
Touchscreen epair cost Galaxy S9 Posted: 02 Jun 2020 09:51 PM PDT I've been trying to find info on the cost of repairing a GS9 that has a horizontal rectangular band where no touch input is registered. All I find is Ifixit and full screen repair kits. The glass is fine, no cracks or anything. [link] [comments] |

How do you disable the 20% battery pop-up on android 9 (Oppo R17)? Posted: 02 Jun 2020 01:03 PM PDT So when my phone hits 20 or 10 percent battery, a pop up blocks my screen and asks if I want to turn on battery saver. I was wondering if there is anyway to disable this. When I am playing a game, it is very frustrating to die when I get a battery pop-up [link] [comments] |

Posted: 02 Jun 2020 09:30 PM PDT I wasn't able to find an internship for the summer before COVID hit, so buying a new phone at the moment isn't super practical for me. But my current phone is a mess. It gets hot when I use it, it's laggy, sometimes when I enter my pin it lags and goes back to sleep, etc. etc. Is there any way to restore some of its performance? Would installing Lineage OS help? Help Manually Change File Associations Posted: 02 Jun 2020 09:04 PM PDT I'd like some help with changing my file associations. I have an Galaxy S8, everything is up-to-date. Currently, I am attempting to make ".lua" and ".exml" files open with QuickEdit. I can access them from within the app itself, but I cannot get my phone to open the files in the app from any of my file explorers (My Files and X-plore). I have already tried the "Default Apps" deal (setting, clearing, etc.) within the phone's settings. I have already tried "Open with..." (I eventually got this to work, but it is aggravatingly monotonous to do this for every single file, especially when you have hundreds). The phone doesn't seem to think I have an app that can access these files, because it doesn't give me the option to set QuickEdit as a default. It only lets me "Search the Play Store" for an app that can or "Cancel". I would love to be able to manually edit their associations, without having to use the GUI, if at all possible. If not, any other assistance would be appreciated. There are several other file extensions that I would also need this for, so the process would have to be something I could replicate. If you need anything else from me, please let me know. [link] [comments] |
how do i disable the "emergency" button in the power menu? Posted: 02 Jun 2020 08:51 PM PDT I haven't been able to find a setting for it. My phone is a oneplus 7 running android 10. I want to disable it because I don't want to accidentally press it (which I have done in the past). [link] [comments] |

Help getting to a locked android phone on a Linux computer. Posted: 02 Jun 2020 08:19 PM PDT I have a Galaxy S8 that has a broken screen and I am wanting to get my files off of there but every extraction tool I'm seeing only works on Windows or Mac. WIFI router works perfectly but 1 phone doesn't Posted: 02 Jun 2020 03:42 PM PDT Starting about a couple months ago, my phone suddenly stopped connecting to wifi. I then restarted my router and the phone said it connected. I'm not sure what type of reset but I held the button on the side of the router for 5 seconds and it came back to normal in about 2 minutes. I tried to go onto reddit then it said "Internet Unavaliable with "such-and-such". I go back to settings and it says "Saved". Sometimes is says "Disabled". I tried connecting again today and go onto social media then it said "Internet Unavaliable with <unknown ssid>" This is really starting to piss me off, is there a way to fix this? Edit: Phone says WIFI is connected but cannot open apps that need WIFI connected. Says "Network Connecting Lost" and it still has the wifi icon at the top [link] [comments] |
Disabled Stock Keyboard, Switched from Pin to Password, Restarted and Now Locked Out Posted: 02 Jun 2020 07:25 PM PDT I've had the stock keyboard disabled on my phone for many months, but recently switched from pin to password. Now, after restarting my phone, the keyboard does not appear, and I cannot access my phone. Any ideas how to get in? It's a OnePlus5T, running the most recent update. Have tried restarting and booting in safe mode. Not rooted. Edit: Still unresolved, but just tried booting into recovery mode, and the keyboard there works, and I was able to put in my password and decrypt the phone, as it appears to be a different one from the stock one and a different one from the one I had installed. Any ideas for how to use recovery mode to get in and unlock normally? Or at least get my data off before factory resetting? [link] [comments] |

Recommendation for benchmark app, installing better OS on fake android, and security Posted: 02 Jun 2020 06:03 PM PDT I just got a fake galaxy S9+. It was very cheap so I plan to keep it just for whatsapp purposes, not as my main phone. According to "phone info" it has 1 gb RAM, while CPU-Z says 4. What is the most reliable specs app? I'd like to know what I'm truly dealing with here. Also, it tries to pass itself as Android 8, while those apps I mentioned say it's 5.1. It looks usable enough, the play store works, but I don't trust whoever made this. I'm guessing this is still Android, heavily tweaked to look like 8, right? Can I clean it up? Remove the tweaks and any other bs to help with performance and security? If not, can I change it to something better? I'm new to Android, but I've heard about stock android. Is it possible to install it on this thing? If not, any alternative OS? And finally, if I keep this current Frankenstein Android, is there any encryption or something to give me some security when it comes to accounts in apps like Reddit, Twitter? Or is it too risky? I initially linked my actual google account, but as soon as I realized what was going on, I disconnected it and made a new one just for this phone. Should I change my password? Sorry for the amount of questions. As I mentioned, I'm new to Android. I've heard it's really customizable, so hopefully I can make this little clone a bit more usable as a budget phone. Thanks for the help. [link] [comments] |
Completely dead Screen on s5 Taking all Suggestions Posted: 02 Jun 2020 05:22 PM PDT I have a Samsung Galaxy S5. Recently all the pixels in it died and I am looking at a completely dead display. To be clear, the screen is intact and is responsive but I cant see a thing. This phone is not rooted or anything like that. I would like to access the phone one last time for some data recovery that I def need the display working for (qr codes, settings turned on/off, etc). I have so far tried to link up my s5 with my TV using an HDMI cable and a micro USB to HDMI adapter. But to no avail. I have some questions about my other options.
All other options/suggestions welcome please and thank you [link] [comments] |
Apps keep stopping! OTHER CATCHY WORDS! Posted: 02 Jun 2020 04:44 PM PDT Hello everyone. I have a galaxy s8. And I've tried everything and researches this (albeit not very well) before posting this... hopefully someone just has some suggestions to try I havent thought of. Thanks in advance. I have youtube premium, and radio services on my phone, which used to work fine. First the radio app started cutting out randomly... only when my screen is off. It would cut back on seemingly randomly. And if I press the power button to turn on the screen. Now youtube premium, months later, does the same thing. Plays 2 or 3 mins, stops, the starts again for 20 seconds, then stops for another random amount of time normally between 2 and 10 mins. If I even turn on the lock screen it turns back on. And stays on if the screen is on. Edit: now google maps is stopping when I close my screen or sometimes even go to another app. I've tried looking to see which apps and services are running when it stops... nothing consistant. Iris and face services mainly, so I turned off face lock and deleted data. And I've tried catch and data reset. And lock screen settings. [link] [comments] |
