HTC Issue with U11 after 9.0 upgrade |
Issue with U11 after 9.0 upgrade Posted: 29 Jun 2020 02:50 PM PDT Hello, I have had this issue for almost a year, ever since official 9.0 came over with automatic update somewhere around this time in 2019. Im on Android security patch level 1 July 2019, sofdt number 3.31.401.1., Kernel 4.4.153. Issue is that after the update, when Wifi is OFF and Mobile data(2/3/4g) and GPS are on, phone basically bricks itself and loses connection to SIM and looks as if its trying to get to unlock screen after reboot(without actually rebooting). It's completely unresponsive and you cant get anywhere on the phone, not even turn it off. I even got worried I wont be able to save my data but after trying to figure out whats happening I realised, with brute forcing it multiple times with power button, that I can put it to Aeroplane mode.Once its in that mode phone works again an then I can turn off GPS and remove aeroplane mode and phone works again normally, without rebooting. If I have Wifi turned on, no matter if its connected to some network or not, I can use GPS normally, but if I disable wifi it "softbricks" again. So basically I always need to have have wifi turned on in order to use GPS for a year now.Since I dont have as much time, I tried to avoid formatting my phone and reinstalling everything again, especially cause there is so much hassle with bank mobile apps, authenticators, tokens and so on and just wondered if anyone has good solution in what to do. Is there even any chance to make a backup of ROM with all mobile/tokens saved that would work or only option is to actually do factory reset and see that way. I even had warranty until few days ago but never even bothered sending it there cuz I thought its exclusively software bug and I would have to make a factory reset before sending it to them. If there is anyone with same issue when u got ota update from android 8 to 9 or if anyone has smart solution, it would be greatly appreciated, even downgrading to android 8 without losing data would be great for now,but from what I have read, I dont think its possible...
