Acer Predator Helios 300 (2019) or Asus ROG Strix G531GU ? Posted: 03 Jun 2020 11:02 PM PDT I wonder which one is much better than from the above two. Both of them are in closer price ranges in my country. Here I mostly consider the cooling systems and screen. Asus ROG Strix G531GU Intel® Core™ i7-9750H (12M Cache, up to 4.50 GHz) +Free Gladius II mouse Acer Predator Helios 300 Intel® Core™ i7-9750H (12M Cache, up to 4.50 GHz) These are the laptop specification which I consider here. The Acer predator has better specs over Asus ROG. But the Asus ROG laptop has a dust-free cooling system and more heat pipes inside the laptop. another one is I saw in some reviews the Acer predator has noticeably screen bleeding. So, guys, I would like to know which one really good along with these factors. thank you. [link] [comments] |

Posted: 03 Jun 2020 05:48 PM PDT Hey, Im looking for a gaming laptop in the UK for £700 ish. I was looking at a Nitro 5 (i5 9300H, GTX 1650) but it has gone out of stock now. Is there anything with those kind of specs? I would like to stay away from ryzen unless its 4000 series and the gpu in the nitro is adequate for me. Thanks [link] [comments] |

Posted: 03 Jun 2020 11:24 PM PDT I'm computer savvy but I havent bought a laptop for a while so I'm just getting back in touch with what's out - hoping someone who has been paying closer attention can help guide me. 13-15" display good, I'm not price sensitive, and totally fine with waiting if something might be coming out this year/next. I do some gaming and a lot of multitasking with fairly taxing programs for work. My current dual core i5 2016 Macbook Pro is painful to use for my work stuff even with 16GB ram (i think a quad core laptop would have been a better choice), pretty unusable for gaming, and I'm down to switch to Windows after bitter taste from Mac OS Catalina. But I really love the high res display for work stuff (I dont care for gaming) so I don't really want to lose that. I'm hoping that some new AMD Renoir laptop might fit the bill (Zephyrus G14 comes close, though the lack of a camera is funny and the refresh rate on the 1440p model is a little slow). Preferably something that doesn't look like a gaming spaceship, but I can deal lol. I noticed most laptops with a 120hz+ screen is 1080p though so that's kinda frustrating. And not sure how current/next gen integrated graphics can perform. Maybe an eGPU is an option too? I don't need to game on the go much lol. Any suggestions? [link] [comments] |

Need a laptop for graphic design and gaming, as well as work. Posted: 04 Jun 2020 02:58 AM PDT I'm big on drawing and recently decided to go in to graphic design, so I'd like to get a laptop that I can use for it. I'd probably need a touch screen or 2-in-1 so that I can draw directly on it. LAPTOP QUESTIONNAIRE Total budget (in local currency) and country of purchase. Please do not use USD unless purchasing in the US: Up to $1600 USD Are you open to refurbs/used? No How would you prioritize form factor (ultrabook, 2-in-1, etc.), build quality, performance, and battery life? Good battery life so that I can work/game on it for a while. Performance and build quality are key, I would like it run as cool and quiet as possible. I'v had one in the past that would heat up to like 94 degrees Fahrenheit with fans that sounded like a jet plane and it was awful. How important is weight and thinness to you? I'm petite so lighter is better, probably nothing over 4.5 lbs. Do you have a preferred screen size? If indifferent, put N/A. 13"-15" Are you doing any CAD/video editing/photo editing/gaming? List which programs/games you desire to run. Gaming, photo editing and drawing software (Adobe stuff) If you're gaming, do you have certain games you want to play? Any specific requirements such as good keyboard, reliable build quality, touch-screen, finger-print reader, optical drive or good input devices (keyboard/touchpad)? I want something reliable and that will last me a long time with a nice vibrant screen. I think a touch screen would be good so I can draw directly on it. I'm not against any of the things mentioned here, mainly just want it to last me a long time.I'd like it to have a keyboard with adjustable lights Leave any finishing thoughts here that you may feel are necessary and beneficial to the discussion. I mainly want this laptop to last me nice long while. I don't want it to run super hot when gaming, and I'd like to stay on the cheaper side but prepared to pay up to $1600 max [link] [comments] |
Laptop for Student <1000 euros Posted: 03 Jun 2020 05:02 PM PDT
United Kingdom or France, budget flexible but preferably not much more than 1000 euros (don't mind spending less if I don't have too though!).
No
Battery life, build quality, performance, form factor (though I don't really want a 2-in-1: it's a feature I have currently I never use and it just adds weight and cost)
Extremely important, I would be carrying it around daily.
13-15"
N/A
N/A
I would like some kind of biometric unlocking (face ID or finger-print) for quick startup. I would mainly be typing word documents on this laptop so I would appreciate a decent keyboard.
I plan to use this laptop mainly for university (taking notes, research, and essays) as well as casual browsing/youtube/Netflix. As such, I don't think I really need incredible graphics or processing speed, but rather a light device with a great battery life that's fast for simple things like browsing and typing documents. UK/EU: Gaming Laptop potentially good for music production Posted: 04 Jun 2020 02:41 AM PDT
I'm looking for a laptop to do a huge step from where I am now (medium-end laptop with a 940M which is still serving me very well with loads of tweaks here and there). I'm not sure if I need to wait another 6 months. There's no rush but I'm on here because the more I was looking, the more I opened Pandora's boxes like refresh rates, displays, 4k monitors, AMD vs. Intel and I just got plain confused. Thanks a lot in advance! [link] [comments] |

Looking for a student laptop. Will be majoring in Biology. Thinking about the Dell XPS. Posted: 03 Jun 2020 06:24 PM PDT
1300 USD
I know a few people that have Dell XPS and they have been satisfied. Right now, I am looking at the following deal: https://www.costco.com/dell-xps-13-2-in-1-touchscreen-laptop---10th-gen-intel-core-i7---1200p.product.100513808.html Is it any good? Is the 1200p screen a concern. I am open to suggestions however. My number one priority is to have a laptop that will feel fast and last for the next 4-5 years. [link] [comments] |

Posted: 04 Jun 2020 01:42 AM PDT I would appreciate if people would tell me if their touchpad is silent or not when you move your finger around and what brand laptop you have. I had a Toshiba many years ago and now have an old Lenovo and both were completely silent, it never crossed my mind the touchpad can have this "rough" surface making it audible. Then I got a Dell form work and it has this rought surface, hp pavillon as well. It really annoys me. I wonder if touchpads are consistent across the whole brand because I need to buy a laptop online and can't manually test it. So I'd appreciate if you could share:)
