Posted: 05 May 2020 02:47 PM PDT Here is a screenshot of my new Samsung Evo+ 500gb SD card as viewed by Samsung Magician. I read the Samsung Magician page, but it only discusses SSDs. However, I know from experience that it will detect Samsung HDDs as well. I googled (and even duck duck go'd!) my question, but can't find an answer. As you can see, Magician does not detect the SD Card as a Samsung device. I have heard that these cards can be spoofed, but writing 500gb is going to be difficult as my laptop (the only thing in the house that can read sd cards other than my phone) only has 256gb storage. So I would need to plug in my external hdd, write from that directly to the sd card, and then interpret whether the read and write speeds are appropriate? That doesn't sound very accurate, and extremely tedious and time-consuming. So if anyone could answer whether Magician detects Samsung SD cards, or provide an accurate way to determine if it is legit, then I would be greatly appreciative! [link] [comments]  |

| Samsung Galaxy S7 has weird file Posted: 05 May 2020 11:16 PM PDT I don't know if this comes with the phone but I was searching through files to check something and I came across this sketchy file named com.skype.raider or something, I searched it up on Google and the results that were shown kept saying "Android Malware" and all that crap. I haven't done much with this phone, all I have installed so far is Discord, Twitter, Reddit, Twitch, and TikTok. | Wifi Control under Special App Access in Settings Posted: 05 May 2020 10:47 PM PDT I went through Wifi Control under Special App Access on my Android 10 OnePlus skin , and found that several apps had control by default like Tinder, Amazon, Instagram, WhatsApp and several others ,as in 'Allow app to control wifi' turned on, and the explanation was that "Allow this app to turn WiFi on or off, scan and connect to WiFi networks, add or remove networks, or start a local only hotspot". I never remember giving this permission. What does it mean, should I turn it off, or let it be, is its a privacy problem, what's to win and what's to lose? Please reply in some detail with clarity. | Question regarding flashing of Xiaomi mobile Posted: 05 May 2020 06:56 PM PDT BACKGROUND Xiaomi has its own Mi Flash Tool in which we select the .bat and flash. But if we use fastboot commands then we only need system.img, boot.img, recovery.img, cache.img and userdata.img So I checked .bat files using notepad++ and they contain commands for various other files too like modem etc that are present in images folder. But phone gets on with both methods! QUESTIONS 1. Are those other files not important?

| Enabling Android RNDIS on a tethering enabled plan? Posted: 05 May 2020 10:24 PM PDT Currently, both my Android phones (Moto E4, LG Phoenix 2) require/check they are on a hotspot/tethering enabled plan before it enables RNDIS. Question 1: It seems like after I root them, they will transparently forward the LTE connection over USB regardless whether the plan itself has hotspot/tethering enabled on it? Unfortunately, the LG Phoenix 2 is not rootable - but I have figured out how to bypass the requirement/check that it's on a hotspot/tethering enabled plan before it enables RNDIS It was an ATT locked phone that I unlocked via a code. The issue is within a few seconds of RNDIS being enabled the ethernet connection over USB dies. The Android switch shows enabled, but the ethernet interface is just gone until I toggle it again - when it stays for a few seconds to die again. During those few seconds I have full speed LTE - I can ping (ICMP), do DNS lookups (UDP) and of course, TCP. I would like to access the whole 50GB (plan limit) over RNDIS/hotspot/USB tethering instead of 20GB (hotspot/tethering limit) Question 2: What could be killing the ethernet connection over USB? Posted: 05 May 2020 09:58 PM PDT Busy trying to flash my AT&T S7 Active to stock 7.0 so I can upgrade it to 8.0, due to AT&T being AT&T and not allowing you to update unless you have one of their sim cards in the phone. And I'm in NZ, so I'm sweet out of fluffing luck on that front. Finally got Odin working though due to using a back panel usb port, but no idea if it's now gone wrong since it's just sitting there on emmc_appsboot.mbn with no pass/fail happening. Been like this for about an hour I think. Though thanks to fun with windows I'm used to shit taking forever to finish (hello check disk)... She also doesn't remember her Gmail account well, both the e-mail and the password. She also doesn't remember the spelling she used for her first and last name entries. All she knows is her phone number (which is inserted), and she has the phone's box (with the serial number) and warranty. We've tried factory resetting the phone and "forgot my password, e-mail, ...etc". We've even gone to phone-repair shops (not super-experts) and they said they cannot do anything to help us. Any way we can retrieve the phone or use it? (screw the data, she is too desperate right now to even care about them). Her phone is Huawei P30 Lite. This happened to her only a couple of days after she bought it as a gift to herself for her birthday. I hope it doesn't seem as if it's a stolen phone, it's really not. She's just that dumb. Tried making gallery app display videos only, and when I do that the option to view the trash folder is gone. I once used kingroot in an older device to do it, it was pretty simple. So I'm looking to having something similar or easy but without wiping my phone and still have the updates if possible. | Pixel 3XL Won't power down without being plugged in Posted: 05 May 2020 12:32 PM PDT Very strange problem with my Google Pixel 3XL. Any ideas? It will not power down nor turn off without being plugged into the charger but runs fine without it! Once charged it will run fine. Kinda. It will run for about 8 hours, seems to get pretty hot. Much less battery life than usual. Again when I take it off the charger, if I go to restart or power down, it will turn the screen black and then go back to the home screen - stops midway. Looking at battery usage, I cannot see any apps that are taking too much battery but it always shows a very high screen time like in hours. But the screen is off as before. I have tried safe mode, removing recent apps, battery saver, reviewing apps updates, and recently did a hard reset and reinstall . The original Samsung charger no longer works (does nothing) but some but not all 3rd party chargers are working (slow and fast). Any ideas??? [link] [comments]  |
