Recieved My Snapdragon S20+ In the UK Posted: 07 May 2020 07:10 AM PDT First let me preface this by saying this is not intended to be an Exynos ranting post. I know people are happy with their Exynos devices, and that's all that matters. So I've been using my Galaxy S8 for the past 3 years and I felt like it was time to upgrade, however I had a bit of a nightmare getting a new phone. First I pre-ordered the S20+ directly from Samsung UK. I got the phone and used it for a week, and while I really liked the S20+ I noticed I was not getting great battery life, typically just over 4 to 4.5 hours SoT. I then started reading about the drastic differences between the Snapdragon and Exynos variants so for the price I paid, I wasn't happy to put up with that. I returned the phone and then heard about the upcoming Oneplus 8 Pro. I've never been interested in Oneplus before, but the 8 Pro looked like a proper flagship. Long story short I returned it, the screen was not good quality and I struggled to get decent photos out of it. So I almost conceded and bought another Exynos S20+, however I then saw people had been importing the Snapdragon variant into the UK via Wondamobile. I had a look and honestly I was hesistant, it looks a bit sketchy BUT other people on this subreddit had success with them AND Wondamobile accept PayPal so you're backed by PayPal's buyer protection. So I figured I'd give it a shot and I placed an order for the Hong Kong variant of the S20+. Some benefits of Wondamobile is that they include tax/import fees in the final price - what you see is what you pay, my phone was delivered to me with no surprise fees. I paid £860 for the phone including shipping, this is cheaper than buying the Exynos directly from Samsung! The Hong Kong variant also uses the same mains connector as the UK, so the included charger works. I also emailed Wondamobile a few times and they always replied within an hour, no matter what time it was. I opened the parcel and was glad to see that the original Samsung seal was intact and without a double seal or anything like that. Inside the box and everything was perfect, the Hong Kong variant also includes a clear case which is nice. So I've set the phone up and everything's working perfectly. The only thing that isn't expected to work is Samsung Pay, but I never use this anyway. Overall I'm incredibly happy that it was so easy to import a Snapdragon variant into the UK for less money than the Exynos without any fuss! Just wanted to let everyone know that if you're considering importing a Snapdragon variant - go for it! [link] [comments]

Posted: 07 May 2020 06:21 AM PDT Sorry for all the text but I felt the need to get this off my chest! Well I'm down in Florida visiting my cousin and he just got his Apple Watch Series 5 (stainless with LTE) the other day. Having my black 42mm LTE Galaxy Watch and my Gear S3 Classic on me I had an opportunity to compare them and I'm blown away by how competitive the Samsungs are, if not just being better over all!
So first off for the price and it being an Apple product I guess I just assumed that it was a MUCH more versatile product than it is. I will say that build quality is nice on the Apple Watch...the ceramic back vs. the plastic on my watches was a nice touch...but that's about it. Steel feels the same and the Sapphire face doesn't seem to matter in terms of feel or durability. I don't think that's worth the hundreds of dollars difference in price though so surely the software and interface/controls are definitely better, right? Well the controls sort of function the same in a lot of ways but the larger rotating bezel on the Samsung along with it's dual side buttons made navigation and using the watches way easier, especially with larger hands and work gloves. So definitely a preference thing but to me the Samsungs win here. OS and UI unlike the controls I found to be...odd. While the Apple Watches app select screen is pretty cool and the UI over all seems more advanced it's almost just more cluttered and overly complicating for it's own good. Like things took longer to do. Otherwise they both functioned similarly and again boils down to preference, not necessarily more or less features. So controls/UI aren't really any better so then surely the price difference lays in the app selection, right? Well, sort of. Now, other than the Apple having the more advanced health sensors (that Samsung might get?) as far as I could tell the Samsung actually does more for both of our uses. He got his watch for the same reason I got mine, ease of access to information and phone control. Ya know, quick glance at notifications, occasional phone call, timer, music control, etc. The Samsung did as well if not better in every category. Texting we didn't see a difference in, really. Both have on screen keyboards, gesture/writing, voice to text, MMS support, etc. Things like notifications and phone calls worked the same. Some things like music control though the Samsung was more feature packed in some instances. While both control music on the phones just fine things like the Spotify app on the Apple Watch only controls Spotify on the phone whereas on the Samsungs you can use the Spotify app independently of the phone. Apple Watch might support this but we couldn't find it. So in this case Samsung does MORE than Apple. Alas Apple certainly does have more watch faces and apps but, again, this really only matters IF it matters. For what he and I use our watches for both have more than enough options in the watch face/app department but again, Apple has more. Be it games and utilities and developer support etc so that's definitely a win for Apple but it's still not bad on Samsung, just not as good. Other quick differences to point out real quick for over all thoughts. The Samsung chargers are WAY better! The little puck on the Apple feels less premium and more cumbersome while the cradle charger of the Samsung looks and functions 100 times better. Speaker quality is about the same on both with my Samsungs being a tad bit louder while Apple sounds a tad better but in the end they're both shitty little speakers, but work. The mic quality is about the same. Both are waterproof. Apples watch band mechanism might be "easier" to use but both my cousin and myself have damaged different bands trying to put them in so there's that for what it's worth. The Samsung looking more watch like is more pleasant in my opinion. So in the end for our pretty limited uses of our watches (I guess? What else can you really do with them?) I'm surprised to say that I actually prefer my Samsung and found it to not be a more limited or less functional product than the far more popular and more expensive Apple Watch. I think my cousin feels the same though he won't say it lol, he's definitely a bit off about me paying $100 used for my S3 while he just paid $750 for his Series 5 even though they both do the same stuff. It is odd. Anyways, thanks for reading/commenting if you do! [link] [comments]

I can't cast my desktop directly to my samsung TV anymore Posted: 07 May 2020 09:36 AM PDT So it did work last year. I'm not sure if it's the fault of my Samsung smart tv or chrome, but I can't cast my desktop to my tv anymore. I can only cast things like youtube or netflix. But when I try to cast my desktop it says on the source tab [TV] samsung series "source not supported". I can cast my desktop to my chromecast though. So I suggest that it has something to do with my TV. I tried reseting it to factory settings and I've updated my TV but it still doesn't allow the desktop casting anymore. [link] [comments]
Posted: 07 May 2020 09:05 AM PDT I've never looked at anything besides S and Note series before. What are the best mid range phones now, and what are the real differences between them and the top models? Camera and battery both important to me. They don't have to be the best, they just have to be good. What's out there? [link] [comments]
