    Recommend me a Reddit app

    Posted: 30 Apr 2020 02:16 AM PDT

Hey all. I'm sick of the Reddit TV in my feed on my phone so I'm looking for an alternative app that can hopefully do the following.

    • Filter out Reddit Public Access Network
    • Remove read posts from my front page on refresh. The apps I've tested seem to either remove the post on read or leave it lingering for a while.
    • Quick comment collapse.

    I've tried:

    • Official Reddit App
    • BaconReader
    • Boost
    • Sync

None seem to clear out my read posts when I refresh the feed. I don't want them to dissappear as soon as I've read them, only on refresh.

    Anyone got any suggestions? Thanks!

I made an app that asks you to type a reason first and then use your phone. To reduce mindless phone usage.

    Hi,

A month ago I posted about the beta of Acture app. Thanks all who tried and gave feedback.

When you need to focus or when you need to declutter from the digital mess, turn on mode, and validated your usage purposes every time when unlocking your phone.

    Android version out of beta.

And also an iOS version available.

    Thanks

I get porn ads in the official YouTube app [NSFW]

    Posted: 30 Apr 2020 08:53 AM PDT

    Hi!

The official YouTube app has started to show me porn ads on my phone. I had my google ad profile deactivated years ago and recently I reset the ad ID. After a while I got ads like this: pooorn
I used to be able to report ads, but now I'm not.
Has this happened to anyone else? Is there a way I can report this, when there is no "report this ad" option anymore?

    Bluetooth quick settings replacement

    Posted: 30 Apr 2020 11:21 AM PDT

I'm on Android 9 and it's pretty annoying that long-pressing the Bluetooth toggle in the notifications shade opens the settings app when it would instead display a convenient little list of devices to choose from on my old phone. Is there an app that can bring back that behavior?

    Not receiving notifications on Gmail

    Posted: 29 Apr 2020 08:22 PM PDT

I have five different e-mail boxes and the ONLY one getting and making new mail notifications is the outlook.com mail. I have double checked every setting on the mail accounts and they are similar... Not even my Gmail account gives notifications on new mail arrival, it's driving me nuts...

    Any help?

My phone is OP5 with Android 9 based OxygenOS.

Secondary question: can Outlook and Gmail apps co-exist on the phone, if I'd give that a try...

Lawnchair v2 - Long press actions / shortcuts

    Posted: 30 Apr 2020 07:16 AM PDT

    Galaxy S10+

For the life of me, I can't figure out why shortcuts won't work for me with Lawnchair v2.

If you're not sure what I'm referring to, when you long press an icon, you're supposed to be given shortcuts and options for that app. For instance, on Nova Launcher, if you long press the Google Play store, you get a shortcut to go directly to "My apps".

On my S10+, even with "pop ups" enabled, I don't get anything when long pressing icons except for "Customize" and "Remove". I've tried various Lawnchair builds with the same result.

Yet, on an old Pixel 1 XL, it works fine.

    Any ideas?

Weird problem with Poweramp, anyone else experience this?

    Posted: 29 Apr 2020 05:48 PM PDT

I use Poweramp to play music via Bluetooth in my car and most of the time when I get out of my car and get back in Poweramp won't play any audio until I use another app that plays audio, like YouTube. Once I play a video for just a second I'll switch over to Poweramp and it'll work. It's been like this for a while and I can't figure out how to fix it.

I need an app that keeps track of any quantity

    Posted: 30 Apr 2020 05:11 AM PDT

Hi! I need an app like this one, that keeps track of your weight over time: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.gmail.makasewicz.maciej

But with a more general purpose. I want to record any type of data or quantity, daily, like income, temperature, hours of sleep etc. Even media files - that would be helpful.

Is there some firewall that block by country, like lostnet noroot firewall used to do ? Too bad it doesn't work anymore, it's the best I ever tried (no root)

Looking for a voice recorder app with the option, in one button to Stop current recording, delete it, start recording again immediately.

    Posted: 30 Apr 2020 08:54 AM PDT

I am recording my piano practice runs and if I make a mistake, I start over. Is there an app which allows me to just restart a recording without saving the previous one? Without confirmation dialogues, without extra taps. Just "start" -> make a mistake -> "restart from 0, delete evidence".

    Thanks in advance!

    Alternative to Clean Master

    Posted: 30 Apr 2020 12:32 PM PDT

I'm looking for an app that would be the best alternative to Clean Master. I used to use Clean Master on all my devices until it got removed from the Play Store because of what happened with the company. Now I need a replacement but I can't seem to find one that I like as much as I did Clean Master. Any good suggestions?

Video player that retains folder structure

    Posted: 30 Apr 2020 05:35 AM PDT

Hi all, hoping you can help me with a suggestion for a video player app that would suit my needs.

I've put a 64GB memory card in my niece's tablet and loaded a bunch of video files on there - so far so good.

However when I use either the default video player or things like VLC or MX Player, it just loads all of the files in to one window and doesn't retain the folder structure.

MX does a slightly better job of keeping the folders but brings them all to one level rather than retaining subfolders.

Is there a video player where I could select a folder from the SD card to display the files from, and the retain all the folder structure under that.

If it matters, the folder structure is something like:

PARENT FOLDER FROM SD CARD DIRECTORY

    • Folder 1
      • Sub Folder 1.1
        • File 1
        • File 2
        • File 3
      • Sub Folder 1.2
        • File 1
        • File 2
        • File 3
    • Folder 2
      • File 1
      • File 2
      • File 3

I want to be able to select the parent folder from the SD card directory and then retain everything below it.

    Thank you!

Any way to get notifications from reminders I add to Google Calendar with the Reminders "calendar" unchecked?

    Posted: 30 Apr 2020 07:29 AM PDT

I have some recurring reminders on my Google Calendar, but I don't want to see them on the calendar itself otherwise it gets really cluttered... so I uncheck the Reminders "calendar", but that way I don't receive the notification either... there's a way around this?

Is there anything like Route4Me on android? Need to input about 20 different delivery destinations and let the algorithm find an optimal route

    Posted: 29 Apr 2020 09:18 PM PDT

We recently started a small business of bottled purified water, we set out to do trips with about 10 to 20 stops where we deliver the water

2 days in we've been using google maps and its multiple stop/marker function but as far as i can tell, this is manual

Is there anything that would let us input a bunch of addresses so that an algorithm can find the most optimal route? A common suggestions is Route4Me but unfortunately it is a very costly service which right now we can't really afford

Any suggestions? (If you can think of a sub that could also give some ideas please do feel free to share)

    Cheers and many thanks!!

Anyone else having weird problems with Android Messages?

    Posted: 30 Apr 2020 06:17 AM PDT

I've been having some weird issues texting recently.

    1. I sent an SMS containing text and a link to someone and they never received that SMS, but received the ones before and after. This happened several times with two separate people (one iPhone, one Android but no Chat functionality was enabled with the Android person). (Edit: these links were not potentially suspicious links. One was several different Instagram links and in the other case it was a Spotify link).
    2. I've been receiving double messages from people and they report receiving double messages from me too. This is during a rapid exchange of SMS with iPhone people.
    3. Two iPhone people have reported attempting to send me a picture and immediately seeing a red exclamation point saying the picture is undeliverable. They are able to send me SMS at that time, however.

All of these things have started in the last couple of weeks. Anyone else been having these issues? I really don't want to change apps to test because I use the web app all the time.
