[Germany] Lenovo Laptops with AMD Ryzen 4000 series are incredibly cheap Posted: 24 Apr 2020 12:50 PM PDT Hey, one of the currently hottest deals on a german deal website is for the new Lenovo Ideapad 5 with AMD Ryzen 4000 CPUs.
I ordered one myself since even though it does not 100% meet all my criteria for a perfect laptop, for 570€ (including VAT) I got a beast of a laptop:
(translated by me from German)
What I am basically saying is: this year a new generation of affordable laptops is coming with pretty amazing specs.
Have a great weekend everyone! [link] [comments]

Posted: 24 Apr 2020 10:21 AM PDT I have a Lenovo T420. I got it almost nine (9) years ago, summer of 2011. I've had it fixed a few times, but considering how old it is, it actually works quite well. However, I am looking for something newer AND faster. I'm not a gamer, but I enjoy the following: Also, I enjoy switching between tabs and using different browsers. I want to be able to have Word open, while listening to music, while playing chess online, while having tabs open for my emails and Reddit and YouTube and so on, without a freeze or skip or buffering if I decide to return to my Netflix. I like the Lenovo because it's survived falls and various accidents, but I'm sure there are other laptops that are able to withstand this sort of stuff. It's okay if it's a bit on the heavy side. Finally, I want to keep having a PC. I do not want an Apple product. I'm used to working with a PC. Thoughts? [link] [comments]
Posted: 24 Apr 2020 11:52 AM PDT Looking to get my significant other a laptop as hers was stolen. She's a student at the local university and I'm looking to spend under 800. She uses excel, YouTube, word, nothing crazy. Please recommend me the best performing laptop for this price range. Thank you all very much, I appreciate your help. This is what I was looking at but I have limited knowledge on laptops... https://www.amazon.com/gp/aw/d/B07QXL8YCX/ref=ya_aw_od_pi?ie=UTF8&psc=1 [link] [comments]
Recommendations for a high-quality laptop that can handle 2-3 games? Posted: 24 Apr 2020 11:17 AM PDT I'm not a gamer, but I do play maybe 2 games. These are the requirements for the game.
I don't really need a bulky "gaming laptop". I'd much rather use it for work and school, and watching YouTube, films and stuff - but I'd prefer if it could handle a couple big games. Also if it can be under $1000 that'd be ideal. I currently have like a 2013/2014 ASUS vivobook - don't even know at this point. As you can see from my terminology, I know nothing about laptops or computers. Please and thank you. [link] [comments]
Is there any difference between these two? Posted: 24 Apr 2020 02:10 PM PDT I'm reffering to the G15 with 240hz display. I mean, one is sold by ASUS but almost out of stock, and the other one has no reviews. [link] [comments]
Laptop integrated graphics performs way below expectations Posted: 24 Apr 2020 02:06 PM PDT Hey all, I recently bough LG Gram laptop, mostly for work, but I do play games sometimes (CS GO). I did some research and a lot of users said this particular setup should perform OK to play CS GO on basic settings. However, I'm getting 65fps MAX (should be at least 90) and the game is unplayable. I ran the benchmark test and it seems to confirm it: https://www.userbenchmark.com/UserRun/27115132 Unigine Heaven Benchmark 4.0 also came lower (366) than expected (532). Any suggestions? Specs:

Which would you choose out of these? Posted: 24 Apr 2020 02:05 PM PDT The hp envy 13 only has 8gb ram but that is the main difference between the two and it's considerably cheaper [link] [comments]
I have a question about HP built-in microphones Posted: 24 Apr 2020 01:55 PM PDT I wasn't sure where to ask this. I already posted under r/hpcomputers and didn't receive any response but here's my issue: Getting the obvious responses out it the way first. 1) Yes, the Microphone is enabled. 2) It is enabled across all apps and platforms. 3) Troubleshooting was no help (surprise, surprise) 4) Already looked on the official HP Help page and attempted multiple "fixes", none of them worked. 5) The test for the microphone shows that it is receiving audio input. Meaning the little sound bar moves accordingly when there is sound made either voice or ambient, but people on the other end do not hear us. 6) Microphone is not on mute. 7) Others do not have me muted 8) All the drivers have been updated I have scoured a lot of other websites looking for fixes and I've seen multiple other people reporting the same issue, but I have seen very few people report that any one particular fix works. Any and all suggestions and advice are welcome. [link] [comments]
Posted: 24 Apr 2020 01:33 PM PDT I got the version that came with a 512gb SSD. Is there a way to expand storage to another SSD or perhaps a HDD? [link] [comments]

Qualcom Atheros AR9485 WIFI chip on ASUS E402M Posted: 24 Apr 2020 01:26 PM PDT For some reason, my wifi chip on my laptop hasn't been performing up to par. It's been limited to 20mbps down when it should be able to support 300mbps. I'm just wondering if anybody else has had this issue and if you guys have any solutions. I've already tried updating drivers and such but no luck on my end. [link] [comments]

What can I expect from this used laptop? Posted: 24 Apr 2020 01:16 PM PDT I'm looking to buy a replacement laptop for office purposes; deciding between a Lenovo Thinkpad t450 (16ram, 512ssd, external battery addition, 1600x900 screen) and an Acer Aspire 5 (8ram, 1tb hdd, 1920 x 10180 screen) I believe the thinkpad is better all things said for specs, and the price between the two is a difference of $20 with each around $240 after taxes with the Thinkpad being cheaper. This being said, the thinkpad is used (office use) and came out in 2015 whereas the acer is new. Should I be worried about the thinkpad just not working after a month due to it being as old as it is or should I be fine? Is the thinkpad the way to go? [link] [comments]
Gamer on a budget looking for a laptop. Posted: 24 Apr 2020 01:15 PM PDT I'm new to the pc world and I was really hoping there would be a gaming laptop around 800$. I'm not expecting it to play triple A games at 60fps or anything demanding but I would like to play older games like fallout 3 or the mass effect trilogy. Am I expecting too much for too little or is there a good budget gaming laptop under 1000$? [link] [comments]
What is better for my battery? Posted: 24 Apr 2020 12:43 PM PDT I use my laptop as my main device and I use it heavily. Is it better for my battery health to keep it plugged in all the time? Or to let it go through about 5 discharge/charge cycles per day? [link] [comments]
how do I swap a SSD, and will it make my laptop faster? Posted: 24 Apr 2020 12:41 PM PDT How do I copy all the stuff on my harddrive to an SSD if I want to change my laptop from harddrive to SSD? Do I have to do anything else? Will the motherboard not like a separate component? [link] [comments]
to what level will adding RAM make my laptop faster? Posted: 24 Apr 2020 12:39 PM PDT I have 6 GB now. Based on ASUS specifications, I can have up to 8. But Crucial says I can have up to 16. Anyway, will this make my computer faster? RAM usage is normally pretty high. https://imgur.com/IKkpdj1 [link] [comments]
I need a good laptop for editing and rendering mainly after effects Posted: 24 Apr 2020 12:26 PM PDT My budget is around $200 / $400 maybe even more I have a laptop right now but it's really bad and I'm trying to use it for AE but I'm having a bunch of issues [link] [comments]
Posted: 24 Apr 2020 12:20 PM PDT Hi everyone, So a few hours ago I ordered a Lenovo Legion Y540 with an i7 9750HF, RTX 2060, 16GB RAM and 144Hz display. I got a pretty good deal for it. It was discounted from 1400 to 1260 euros and I quickly bought it because it said there were only a few left in stock. I just got on reddit and saw the new generation Legion 5 is coming out and I'm already regretting my purchase. Should I quickly cancel my order and wait for the new gen? Thanks [link] [comments]
