I have 2 laptops with an original windows 7 on each one, can i exchange the hard disk between those 2 laptops without lossing the licence?

    Posted: 27 Apr 2020 06:49 AM PDT

So i have 2 laptops, each one have an original windows 7 installed on, what i want to do is take the internal hard disk of the first laptop and put it in the 2nd laptop, and same thing with the hard disk of the 2nd laptop, just i want to make sure i dont loose the windows licences, since i have read that each licence will be assigned to a particular laptop, and i was wondering if also the license will be assigned to a particular internal hard disk

    Delete "New hardware detected" process

    Posted: 27 Apr 2020 07:29 PM PDT

I'm using a windows 7 PC for the sole purpose of recording multitracks from an audio mixer.

The issue I'm having is with the mouse; it works for maybe 2-3 minutes at most each day when I turn on the PC, and the rest of the day it won't work.

Once I turn on the PC with a new mouse, it works just fine until the PC detects that it's a new hardware and right then it stops working, the rest of the day it doesn't matter if I connect a new/old mouse, it won't move at all. By new and old I mean a mouse that has not been/has been connected to the PC before.

I tried changing the device driver installation settings but somehow the PC still tries to install the drivers, and I also tried changing the policy on group policy editor - with this I tried a new mouse after restarting but I still got a pop up saying new hardware detected, and that the installation was blocked due to the policy, still it didn't work.

So I was thinking if there's a way to delete the process that detects a new hardware, since I don't really use it for anything else.

All the USB ports work fine; I tried using a keyboard through those ports, works just fine.

I tried using the different mouse on different PC's and it works just fine.

I've also tried uninstalling and reinstalling drivers, still no luck.

Another thing I've noticed is that my flash drive wouldn't show up on my computer, but it does show up on disk management.

So my genius redditors, do y'all know a way to fix this?

    Hardware-accelerated GPU scheduling

    Posted: 27 Apr 2020 01:58 PM PDT

Since Windows 10 20H1 (or May 2020) is in the release preview ring and will be available shortly for public release, I was wondering if anyone benchmarked it since it is having new WDDM 2.7 which features Hardware-accelerated GPU scheduling. The Nvidia drivers already support it. Just curious to see what kind of performance boost in gaming we can get. 🤘

    Windows 10 stuck again

    Posted: 27 Apr 2020 03:56 PM PDT

I've been trying to get past the login screen but windows doesn't let me. It just doesn't respond and the dots stop spinning. I've tried ctrl alt delete but that doesn't help! I can safely boot into safe mode but can't into the normal mode. I had this issues two months ago and I just reinstalled windows. I thought I might get some help or I might as well reinstall windows. The problem is that these types of issues have been happening a lot to me. Like this login issue happened to me at least 2 time's before. I also had a issue where my pc would hang after signing in. I don't know why windows is buggy and Would appreciate any help that I can get! I always reinstall windows and might've reinstalled it like 7 times

    Nothing works with input.

    Posted: 27 Apr 2020 09:06 PM PDT

So I've had this computer for a bit and at first everything worked fine. Somehow it just doesn't work with any microphone I plug in, wireless and USB. I know this isn't just with microphones because I have an audio interface and that doesn't work either. I've reset my computer quite a few times but it just wont work.

I don't know about you, but I would really like to see a Bandwidth Limiter built into Windows 10

    Posted: 27 Apr 2020 08:46 PM PDT

The purpose of this would be to control each application's upload and download bandwidth. I can't imagine it would take much space on the ISO files

Program to allow more audio on side of a headset

    Posted: 27 Apr 2020 08:01 PM PDT

I've never been able to hear very well from my right ear ever since I was young so I thought If there was a program or software that was able to make the right side a bit louder. It makes it very hard to locate where a sound is coming from in real life and in-game so if there was something I could use to make the right side louder than the left. I know Windows has its own setting to change the Left or Right volume but I guess I need a little more for my right ear to hear properly.

    Windows old

    Posted: 27 Apr 2020 06:46 PM PDT

Is there a way I can rollback my old account from where it is now called Windows.old?

I used a disk to "upgrade" windows in an attempt to stop the constant inevitable unwarned crashing but to no avail. Now I have nothing in my desktop because it's a new user, no programs work because I have missing DLLs, and on top of that it still crashes when I open programs or defragment. All the shortcuts are blank, it forced me to make a new user and password and everything.

After that, I tried using the "restore" to the date where I installed this update, but all that did was plop me back to the beginning, where I updated it with the disk. But this time, the documents and desktop i moved over aren't there. So now they're no longer in windows old either.

My computer is having issues downloading, updating and resetting. Not sure how to proceed, please help!

    Posted: 27 Apr 2020 05:33 PM PDT

Situations started while trying to download some applications. Would say I needed to update my windows to proceed.

I would go to download windows, and it would get stuck at a certain percentage for hours. Usually something like 27%. It has done this for 6+ hours everytime I've tried to update, and most of the time would just fail and send me back to my main screen.

I think proceeded to try and reset my PC. It would also get stuck at certain percentages and not work.

Not really sure what to do. Seems really stuck and I would really like my computer back. Thanks!

Good app for saving passwords for a Fresh Windows 10 install?

    Posted: 27 Apr 2020 01:46 PM PDT

I have to do a fresh windows install because of repeated crashings, but I don't want to lose all my web passwords. Is there a good app that can transfer/ save all web address passwords so I don't have to put them all in manually after the fresh install?

    Ghost Icon on Taskbar

    Posted: 27 Apr 2020 05:26 PM PDT

My friend has this issue where after uninstalling an app, it left a "ghost" on his taskbar. Its transparent and doesn't do anything. If he rights click on hit he has the option to pin it and nothing else. We tried deleting the IconCache.db, restarting Explorer and the PC, to no avail.

I've seen many bugs in my life but this one beats me...

Storage Spaces - mirror storage space

    Posted: 27 Apr 2020 05:18 PM PDT

I have three 4GB SATA drives and W10 PRO. These drives will be used exclusively for storage. What I plan on doing is having two drives always connected and powered with the third drive kept off site at my work (if I have a house fire then I dont lose everything). Twice a year I back up all my home files to the drive I keep at work. There are three options that I am exploring to protect my personal data and would appreciate your feedback:

1.Set two drives up as two-way mirror with bit locker. Then twice a year mount my third drive and copy the data over manually.

2.I do not think this is a viable option but here I go: Set all three drives up initially as a three-way mirror with bit locker. Copy all the data and then disconnect the third drive that I store at work. Then when I am ready to do an off site backup I bring the drive back, connect the SATA and power, in theory W10 recognizes it unlocks it and mirrors it. It may be vastly different than the two other disk images so I am not sure this is even a viable option.

3.Get a hardware RAID card and just do RAID 1 for two drives. Hopefully bitlocker works with that?

I am at a loss trying to fix a bluetooth issue I've been having for weeks, nothing I've found helps

    Posted: 27 Apr 2020 05:42 AM PDT

For the past 2-3 weeks, my bluetooth headset which was peviously working fine with my Windows PC, has stopped showing up in my devices. My headset can still connect to any other device ( my phone and other phones), but windows can't find it.

I've tried reinstalling drivers, restarting support services, disconnecting other bluetooth devices(which do work), troubleshooting bluetooth as well as hardware and devices and nothing seems to be working.

One thing that I have noticed, is that the bluetooth trobuleshooter always says that it 'fixed' an issue with 'check bluetooth radio status'.

I don't know where else to turn, but if this isn't the correct subreddit for an issue like this thatn I am sorry and please show me a subreddit which can help.

Thank you for reading this. If you need any further information please ask, I'll do my best to provide it.
