So I picked up a OnePlus 7 Pro Posted: 24 Apr 2020 04:28 AM PDT I decided to take advantage of the $450 sale at TMobile and see how Android has changed since almost 10 years on iPhones. I thought I would outline some differences between this and an iPhone XS as I have been trying to get at least a similar phone experience to what I'm used to. I am so happy Android has a setting for gesture control to allow app switching a bit like the iPhone. It's not quite as good, but it's very serviceable. The curved display of the pro even makes using the back gestures easier to work with. I do like the other finger gestures like drawing a V to turn on the flashlight or an O to open the camera, but I do miss the ability to simply swipe down and access volume controls that an iPhone can do. I know people have said Siri is less useful than Google assistant, but for what I use it for most.. to call people, the experience is so much better on the iPhone. To just say Hey Siri, call so and so or hold on the power button and say it is so much better on an iPhone. The restriction to unlock Android first is so cumbersome. YouTube being able to play video higher than 1080 on Android is very nice... being able to install ublock in Firefox to have it also be ad free is even nicer. Almost all my iPhone apps are on Android... except Apollo... which I will sorely miss. Battery life is quite good, I've gotten 13 hours of usage with 25% being actively playing games and the rapid charging is very nice, I went from 1% to 20% in a few minutes. Gpay is certainly different, I like how it will just work when the phone is unlocked... if it works. A couple of my cards don't seem to want to work with Gpay at a merchant even though they were successfully added. Never had such an issue with Apple pay. All in all, this phone is pretty nice for the price. If anyone has a good work around to call while phone is locked or adjust volume without buttons, I'd appreciate the info. [link] [comments] | ||
